He's pretty cool with most of his Leads (they thinks he is Lead material *yay I'm proud of my man moving up in the world /squee*), and I know of at least 4 fellow gamers on staff. Maybe we could get something done. He won't get home for at least another 1 1/2 hours, though.
Go him! Sometimes with those kind of tickets, it's just trying to get them coded right so they hit the right team first, versus being bounced. I'm sure he has plenty of stories where his ticket bounced for a long time before it found someone who got it. :)

Any Paizo commentary on what the heck Amazon was doing?
I've posted on the vagaries of Amazon and release dates many times.
The short version: if there are any hiccups in release date, and sometimes even when there aren't, Amazon's system doesn't handle it very well.
In this particular case, we pushed the released date back a month. At some point, Amazon's system reverted the release date to the original date and then decided that it couldn't get the book and cancelled all the orders.

26 bucks from Amazon, and I can have it in my hands in two days with 0 shipping fee. You can't beat that.
Heh. For those not around for the great Core Rulebook fiasco of 2009*, I can see how you'd think that. :)

I don't doubt that. I even told her that it was a ridiculous statement and I know for a fact they will be carrying it. But both her and the second rep said the exact same thing, so I said eff it and bought it local.
I nor 90% of shoppers have the time to argue with poor and misinformed customer service/sales reps.

I really don't see why this surprises people anymore. It seems to happen with just about every RPG release. I've never noticed it with anything else from Amazon besides RPGs. But, that is most likely because I don't often pre-order other things. I order them after they've been out for a few weeks.
For a very long time the general rule has been if you even remotely care about time-sensitivity on a product then don't order from Amazon. They are horrible at it. And I say this as someone who loves the company.
Back in August 2000 several Amazon customer service reps promised me over the phone and by email that I would have 3 copies of the D&D 3.0 Player's Handbook on the release date. Not that the order would ship on the release date - that I would have it in hand on the release date.
After several weeks I picked up a copy at the FLGS. And by the time it finally shipped - over a month after I was supposed to have it in hand and after the DMG release date - I knew the rules backwards and forwards.
Gave the extra PHB to a new guy we recruited for the group. And I will never forgive Amazon customer service. :-)

My order from amazon has not been cancelled. It does say however a Jan.2013 delivery date. Has anyone preordered the Rise of the Runelords Annv. Edition and it has not been cancelled?
I assume if my preorder has not been cancelled I should still receive around July 8.
If you order from paizo right now when would you receive the book

It would ship within the next couple of days. How long it takes in transit would depend on how far away you are and what shipping method you choose—if you put it in your cart and start the checkout process, you'll be given specific estimates on time and cost before you commit to purchasing.

After having talked to customer service and re-ordering the book after cancellation (with a 3$ discount due to the first flubb) I just now got an E-mail from Amazon stating that the order THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO SHIP YESTERDAY has been delayed until AUGUST 1st.
Screw you Amazon. You just lost my business.
Now I need to borrow money from someone to make up for the additional expenses of going retail.

$10/hour is essentially minimum wage...
Not in our region it isn't, it's one of the better paying jobs you can get without a specific degree. The only things better are Coal Miner, Pipeliner, or Iron Worker.
But we got our book from Amazon last Friday. It wasn't supposed to be here til sometime this week. Probably depends on which Fulfillment Center you guys are near.

There are other discounters that have it in stock. Here is one.
