OK let me clarify I haven't had any problem with an overly high DC.

I have had a problem with Low Rolls.

Its One handed for him with regards to spell striking and if he wished to just hit (or is out of spells) wields it 2 handed for extra damage.

That isn't a Polearm nor does it have reach. But still an excellent suggestion.

You can get a lot of nice Weapons via Races. Half-Elves, Dwarves, even Elves.

Magus also comes with built in class abilities to boost concentration for casting defensively. Improved spell combat and greater spell combat. I would never suggest Combat casting or any other feat for this as they will become obsolete feats or circumstantial at best.

The other mechanic from spell combat along with improved/greater spell combat and true magus should be all you will need.

This is definitely the most posts I've seen made in response to a thread necro'd from 8 months ago without anyone realizing it was a necro...

I noticed. I just love the thought of this build.

I just wanted to add to the thread necro and say there is a 3rd party arcana in the super genius ultimate options new magus arcana, that allows a magus spend 2 arcane pool points to weild a 2 handed weapon and cast spells and use spell combat with a follow up arcana to make it last longer.
