Grand Lodge 4/5

I wanted to take a minute to welcome aboard the new Venture-Captain assigned to Turkey. I will let Can Sungur introduce himself, advise about the websites he will utilize for coordinating, and any other information he wishes to share.

As for areas that fall within his region, these include Istanbul, Ankara, Eskisehir, and Izmir for the time being, as well as any other areas he wishes to add to his region. Once he finds candidates for Venture-Lieutenants in those cities, he will assign them.

To assist him with making sure the PFS scene in Turkey hits the ground running, he will be aided by his Venture-Lieutenants, Mustafa Yılmaz and Yücel Okçu.

Welcome to the team!

We have Venture-Captains and Venture-Lieutenants in 11 countries. However, I know PFS is played in quite a few more, such as Germany, Italy, Spain, South Africa and Mexico just to name a few. I just haven't found the right people to fill the role of VCs in those yet.

Good evening from Turkey!

Thanks for the warm welcome. We are very glad to be a part of this community.

Our first official PFS game will be on tuesday (15/05/2012), and this little step that we take for increasing our pathfinder players let us have this oppurtunity.

I am sure when you visit Turkey next time, you will have a chance for either finding a PFS game or anyone who are interested to talk about something related to Pathfinder. :)

Hello everyone! Thanks for your kind welcome.

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Hello everyone,

Being a venture-captain for Pathfinder had been a dream of mine for a long time. I had been working through many unorthodox channels to promote both the hobby of roleplaying and Pathfinder with it for three years now, since the first alpha release.

I have been a D&D GM since 1999 and in 2009, my past GM and mentor, Selçuk Gözübüyük (who was 56 by that year) introduced me to Pathfinder. He said "Yes, I understand these house rules, but have you checked this new Pathfinder game? They have solved most of it." And indeed, Paizo had done it. Unfortunately, Selçuk passed away after an heart attack in 2011 and I wanted to mention his memory here.

About me, I am an online marketing specialist and keynote speaker who likes the spotlight, which is a handy skill in my line of business. Whatever project I pick-up, I tend to approach it with a marketing strategy eye, so our new society in Türkiye will be analysed and worked upon as a market.

The number of roleplayers in Türkiye is very low (probably around 2000-2500), but the number of MMORPG players are raising every year (around 1.3 million subscription based players). This tells me the handful of people who know about tabletop roleplaying can't or won't reach the younger audiences and call them to their roots.

This is still an issue, and the first issue we will be adressing in Türkiye. And can we do this? Yes, because we have done it before! :)

Three years ago, I came up with a little organisation called 'WoI' with a couple of friends in Istanbul, which was a little roleplaying convention focused on training newcomers about established systems. This open-minded approach worked well, and in 6 months, we swept past most of the established college conventions in Türkiye. I met both my lieutenants and introduced (evangelized!!) Pathfinder to them in this organisations, like many others.

We will, with my two lieutenants and a handful of enthusiastic candidates create an online established community and try to expand with the Beginner Box games, move on to the Core Rulebook and have actual Society Characters created, and then move forward with the GameMastery products and Advanced Rulebooks.

I am open to any suggestions and contributions from your past experience on 'introducing MMORPG gamers to tabletop d20' which will be our main concern for the coming years.

Any way, this has been a wall of text, but I would very much like to keep all of you guys updated and involved with anything we are doing in Türkiye.

Thank you all for reading! :)

Wellcome to the ranks! :D

Cool! I like your approach already. Wonder if I have anyone with a marketing skill set in my ranks? That's an awesome way to approach this considering what we do. :)

Welcome to the club!

You know, I can only admire and respect the way that Michael makes sure that he writes all our weird European names with our oddball letters correctly.

Or he just uses copypaste, but still.

Welcome and good luck, Can and Yücel! I love Turkey. What a fantastic spread of history and culture you have there and I have vivid memories of sailing over beautiful Cappadocia in a hot air balloon. I do hope you make it to PaizoCon UK one day. There will be a warm welcome for you.

Congratulations and welcome :D
