Conjuration Focus school

Homebrew and House Rules

Ok i want to make a Conjuration Focus school that allows a Conjurer to get an Eidolon. Im thinking it would be Acts as a summoner of level X for the edilons Power and evolution points. What would be a good level penalty to make its balanced.

-3 or -4 is pretty standard for animal companions and such. Eidolon is (arguably) more powerful than that.

I'd go with half your conjurer level, like a Master Summoner does. School powers aren't typically very strong; they're more like icing to a wizardly cake.

Hmm seeing as how Edilon are more powerful than animal companions I think the half level is good. Or ill make it level minus 7 and have it replace a conjurors level 8 power. This should make the edilon roughly equivalent in power compared to a summon monster 9 spell by 20th level.

That's not a bad plan.

Question--Does the eidolon take up the wizard's familiar/bonded item "slot"?

Depends on what it's replacing.

Nah i was thinking it would just replace the level 8 specialist power like so.

Edilon: This replaces Dimensional Steps. The Conjuror gains an edilon as a Summoner of the wizaeds level -7 just as if she were a summoner. However the Summoner dosenot share the lifeling trait that a Normal Summoner and her Edilon enjoy. One this summoned creature is called or dismissed it cannot be called again for 24 hours.

1/day thing I did this so it didnt take to much flavor from the summoner as i think wizards have some damn fine buffs compaired to the summoner.

Next question. Does the school add some of the Eidolon-specific spells (EG: Unfetter, Evolution Surge) as school spells?

EDIT: Nevermind, got Wizard Schools and Cleric Domains backwards!

Okay, so, a friend and I were talking about this and we've got this figured out.

Eidolon Subschool
Associated School: Conjuration.

Replacement Powers: The following school power replaces the dimensional steps power of the conjuration school.

Lesser Eidolon: At 8th level, you can trade your familiar for an Eidolon, as the Summoner class feature of the same name. Treat the Eidolon's level as your Wizard level -7, or Wizard level -4 if you have the Improved Familiar feat. You do not benefit from any other Summoner class features, such as life link or bond senses.
