I'll have a Martini too please, served straight up and with a twist of lemon.

Also, may I echo that actually having a legit reason to study Burlesque in such detail is pretty epic.

Awesome! I already follow that Tumblr blog!

Awww, you guys are the absolute best! Thank you all so much for taking time out to vote for me and visit my blog, it means a ridiculous amount to me.

As for the shoot thing (not sure if you were talking about me, but I'm going to assume) I did just have a circus themed shoot and should have those photos back soon. Even better, I met amazing women who are hooking me up with other burlesque academics, so that means lots of summer research for my thesis.

And just in case my nerd cred needs to be re-validated, I am currently the king in Kingmaker (we're in the second book going on third, so technically baroness for now) and once this semester is over I'm starting Council of Thieves (just finished Second Darkness).

Thank you all again, just knowing that there are people who are voting and visiting my blog makes me smile like a total derp. *BIG HUGS*

Nice shoes. The sparkles and texture remind me of the Ruby Slippers.

Side note and worth a nerd credit (1.609344 nerd credits in metric: Do you read Green Lantern? If so any specific titles? Will accept New Guardians as a valid answer.

Thank you, they were too cute not to wear with the shirt and I do read GL, but mostly things with GL in it (like JLA). I'm a huge Kyle fan (though Guy is also the bee's knees), but I really enjoyed Hal in New Frontier, amazing comic. GL isn't my favorite hero, but I wanted to wear the Batman panties and thought it'd be funny to wear the GL shirt because Hal and Bruce hate each other. The shirt also matched my green lightsaber (not in this photo) and went with the shoes better than my other nerd shirts.

My favorite comic series is actually Fables (just wrote a paper on it for my Comic Literature class), but I enjoy the non superhero comic series more than the actual traditional style.

Only because when this picture was taken it was just the green light portion of the lightsaber and looked super awkward, but it is in this picture. ^_^

Hmm. Lightsaber—that's a plus. Fewer visible Pathfinder covers—that's a minus.

Yep—the first one *is* better!

Methinks Kitty needs to assemble new photo shoot to placate all the necessary Pathfinder and Star Wars swag into a spread.

Provided Vic doesn't go into cardiac.

If only I weren't a broke grad student, otherwise I'd gladly do another nerdy shoot. Alas, these things tend to cost a bunch, so I try to limit myself to once a year. What I really need to do is make more photographer friends, oh and someone to do my hair and makeup. The problem with being a tomboy who plays dress up is that you tend to be clueless on how to do any of the actual dressing up parts, I was a little too busy learning the Forgotten Realms when I was younger to actually figure out eyeliner...

However, I am noodling a Shelyn cosplay, which if I could get that done I would totally do a shoot for. The hard part is realistically creating that neckline, but still having something that can support the ladies. Stupid goddesses and their gravity defying bodies...

Definitely need new friends who dabble in photography. I know lots of people in my area that do so and it doesn't have to be as costly as it sounds. And besides, going the tomboy route actually adds to its simplicity. It doesn't have to be all fashion made-up noir. =)

To be honest, when going through your deviant art photo portfolio, a lot of good photos came from the ones where you were just being your natural self.

One word: Kickstarter

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, I miss that bookshelf, I sadly lost it and half of what it contained in a recent breakup.

I am glad you guys like my normal pictures, and I can see what you are saying about the natural look, though I still need photographer friends. I mean, duck face bathroom shots are great and all, but I think I want something a little less Instagram inspired. ^_~

As for Kickstarter, I couldn't imagine people actually pulling together to pay for a shoot for me, I don't think I'm that popular. Which really, I wouldn't drop money on a chick to have photos done either, so I don't expect others to do so.

Either way, I have a lot of fun playing in front of the camera when I get a chance so, I look forward to whatever shoot I end up in next. ^_^

I'm sorry to hear about the breakup! It can be hard to separate all the stuff after you decide to call it quits.

Thanks, it was a really difficult decision, but we're still friends and get along very well. But it's going to be a very long time before I think about getting involved again. Besides with two games, grad school, my job, my blog, burlesque, and a social life when do I have time? :p

Come on, who doesn't like ducky lips? It's actually a joke with my friends that I do pin-up, but personal photos of me I make dorky faces or I'm shoving cake/burgers/hotdogs in my mouth. So full of class!

You sound like me :P Me do hair? FAIL. Make-up I just really started to figure out as I grew up in a family where even my mom did not wear make-up. A dress was rare even at a wedding or funeral or formal gathering. It's only been the past few years I started to care. Even after I broke away from the family mold, then I was to busy playing in heavy metal bands, and back then the metal I played you NEVER wore make-up or had big hair. It was those Hair metal people that did that and my kind of metal you'd be laughed at.

I used to do photo shoots once a year, then the place I went left the area so no more :(

Now I DO photography, but not make-up or hair and if you lived closer I'd say lets hook up and we would play dress up and game :P

Stupid lack of proximity to cool people, seriously I would love that. I sadly know too few nerdy ladies and would love the chance to game after playing dress up! The boys have come to accept when I want to wear hats and stuff at the game table, but it's just not the same.

I'm getting better with makeup thanks to youtube, but hair seems to be beyond me. I have super thick hair, which, while great for people who like to play with hair, sucks for me because I get lazy after the first 30 minutes of curling...

What kind of photography do you do? And are you still in a metal band?

I have the opposite. I have a ton of hair but baby, baby fine. I holds a curl for a whopping 10 seconds and goes flat :P Well not that bad but you get the point. it has it's own curl and does what ever it wants for the most part. Usually I will pull it to the side and side ponytail it or pull it back on the sides and clip it or even twist the pony tail and clip it up and let the loose end fall over the clip, easy stuff.

Yeah Youtube tought me everything I know about hair and make-up and then some.

I game with 7 other guys and I REALLY want another girl in the group. But every girl we get wants to needle point or knit while gaming.

Photography I do what ever. Renaissance Faires is what I tend to shoot most and have been published for that. I've done some "Pin-up" but they where Pirate Pin up for a magazine.

You can find my photos at My Photos

No left playing in bands when I got married the first time. When I was getting divorced I started looking for a band but could not find the musicians that suited me and ended up damaging my vocal cords. With out tons of money like famous singers that do that, I am no stuck with a voice that does not have power or the range. While I also was a guitar player also, I want to sing and not play guitar as I'm no speed demon player and it means I cannot have long finger nails and be as girly as I want to be now.

Yeah, definitely wish I was closer Iceni, your pictures are awesome! Sorry about the vocals, but at least you do get to be a girly girl. Funny enough I still keep my nails short from when I used to play (and that is being incredibly generous with words) guitar.

I probably would have an easier time curling the sport than the hair, considering how TERRIBLE I am at it. Sadly Vic it's true, hair does take that long. When I'm getting done up for a shoot they take almost 2 hours to do my hair and makeup, which sitting perfectly still is really rough on the body. I actually get more of a workout from shoots than I do the gym, it's like yoga in heels and it leaves you famished.

Ohhh I can definitely see Kitty as Shelyn..but then I've always been partial to redheads.

Sovereign Court

Thanks Kitty

When I gave up music I said to hell with short nails and keep them long now. Trade off is worth it, and my BF loves the backscratching he gets with them.

Yes I will attest to Kitty's words on hair curling. It is not as easy... well for use two, and does take time. If I am REALLY Lazy I put hot rollers in the hair, sit around for an hour and take it out. But in that hour, who wants to look at me? My BF maybe. But the end result is worth it I think.

Kajehase HAMMERFALL ROCKS. Love that band, as well as many others similar in style to them. And that video is funny, and NO we do not refer to the ice sport but the hot iron none sport

Shame neither of you are close enough to teach my niece. My sister is such a tomboy. (so much that at her 10 year reunion she was asked if she played for the other team).

Liberty's Edge

Aww, thanks Wellard! I've actually gotten a lot redder since this picture (it was taken last year), so I figured Shelyn would be a great fit without the need for a wig. ^_^

Iceni, I have hot rollers, I'm just always running out the door before I can justify spending an hour shoving them in. Same goes for my sponge rollers, though my group has often had to deal with me sitting in curlers at the game table. I've given up the ghost of being anything more than comfy for the mass amount of time spent there, so cute has long gone out the window. PJ's for the win!

And Matt, if it makes you feel any better I was always a tomboy and eventually just figured a lot of this out on my own or by watching my girly friends. If your niece really wants to move into the realm of girliness she'll be at the very least covered by Youtube, if not her friends, so don't worry. :D I do have to admit, I have a ton of fun teaching my nieces tips and tricks that I know, but really they teach me just as much (as my brothers did marry girly women), like braids!

Once again, your disappointment strikes a deep chord within my soul, but consider that it might be necessary to lampoon the nay sayers early for they always initiate the attack via surprise, and invariably move in with their labelling and haterade - best we lampoon them before they arrive so their bluster is seen as comedy.

I can only assume you were hoping to launch such an attack, and thus your disappointment at being banjaxed.

Now if we are done here, there are hot women to talk about.

I am now disappointed by your seemingly tireless commitment to making assumptions about others.

Aww, thank you! But really, you are giving me too much credit, especially considering I'm wearing the same thing two days in a row. Writing massive papers on the Crusades is difficult and I don't have time to find clean pants when in dire need of coffee. Hello Foul Bachelorette Frog meme, thy name is Kitty. At least I've managed a shower or two, so not completely beyond hope.

Sovereign Court

You and I sound alike Kitty. the ONLY time I use the hot rollers. is If I am going out for an evening and have time to "play" with my hair which is like ummm. once or twice a year. I have no time in the morning and my hair is still damp when I head to work so no curling iron action there. Don't want to blow dray as it gets frizzy and no girl wants the frizzes.

When gaming, I wear what ever I had on for the day. Usually jeans and what ever top, sometimes a casual comfy dress or skirt, this weekend, shorts and bare shoulders, it was to hot and I wanted to try and stay cool. Besides it distracts the guy gamers... well 1 of them, making it easy for this Dungeon Mistress to control the men :P or to control the GM

Now if you are done here, can we getr back to talking about chicks? Seems odd that with chicks posting in here all you want to do is talk to another dude about your lifes disappointments. It's pretty clear my summary was spot on.

Back on topic, I am still unconvinced about the Gamer Girl competition, in that they really should make it a bit more precise about what being a gamer entails.

I think there's a huge difference between a PnP gamer girl, and some sports model who fires up The Sims once and again on her Wii.

Can we have a REAL girls of Gaming comp?

I don't know where you live, but if it's close to St. Louis one of my very dearest friends is a former gamer and a current professional photographer. I could probably talk her into a heck of a deal for you.
