A question that has come up as my hubby prepares to run Jade Regent. He absolutely hates the 'forced' over the pole path and insists it would be much easier to sail. So I showed him the world map from the aiming and the quote about the distance from Avistan to Arcadia being 4,000 miles. He then wanted to know why the gravity of such a massive planet didn't crush the inhabitants.
So, is there any info on the sizes and distances involved?
Oh, and it's not that he hates Golarion specifically, he just prefers his own homebrew world, claiming that using modules and pre-existing worlds is lazy.

Golarion has the same size and mass as Earth - James Jacobs explicitly stated that the designers decided to go with Earth values to avoid any need for astrophysical number crunching to make it work using Earth physics.
Yes, I just looked up the Atlantic and 4,000 mi is about right. The Pacific is three times that in places.
Sigh. I'll have to give him a little geography lesson, I guess.
And, reviewing my post, I hate my kindle fire's autocorrect. I did type WIKI, but in lowercase. How did it get 'aiming' out of that?

Question was already answered of course but...
Golarion could be the size of Jupiter as long as the mass was different. Entirely possible considering the empty spaces that account for the Darklands and whatever lies even further below that. Maybe it's full of gooey marshmallow.

Or "a wizard did it" is always an option for a fantasy world...literally...I mean , those Vault Keepers seemed like pretty powerful guys to do hat they did. They could've messed with the gravity somethin' awful...
But seriously though, considering how similar Golarion's general landmasses, structure, and distances are to earth (even the same number of moons and position to a yellow star...) I'm guessing its as close to earth as one could get

The whole point of APs, modules and campaign settings is laziness.
Although I would replace 'laziness' with: I work really hard and don't have enough free time to build a homebrew world. So, I let an expert build one for me instead.
Seems like a neat plan to me.

+1
It sort of irks me when people say that using Pre-Made Modules is Lazy...
I Gm PF and I use (modified) published materials from time to time. I don't consider myself lazy, but the real-world responsibilities of family, friends, and job can make it tough to spend the time on a game I could back when I was in college or only working part time.
So, thank you Paizo for excellent Published Adventures we can use in our own games...

I'm kinda lazy I guess, but I mainly use it because they always seem a tad more polished than anything I can come up with, since, God oh God am I not a game designer. Writing: sure. Design? I don't even know where to begin half the time. At least in the APs and modules the dungeons and encounters and treasure make sense...in my world, I usually ad lib and its not nearly as fun

I was similarly disparaging of published modules until I started working here. Then I ran Savage Tide for a bunch of my friends and was immediately like: "Wait a minute... I can play an awesome game with this little prep time? HOW DID I NEVER REALIZE THIS?"
Also, back to the original post--if folks want information about planet sizes, gravity, etc., it's all in Distant Worlds! :D

Sailcraft are a lot more primitive in Golarion they tend to be coast huggers and that doesn't work that well close to the pole. Ships that try to cross the ocean the other way tend not to be heard from again.
