Druid question

Silver Crusade 5/5

This was presented to me by one of my players. I don't know Druids very well. So in my supreme laziness I present it to you.

The druid armor proficiency section states "A druid may also wear wooden armor that has been altered by the ironwood spell so that it functions as though it were steel." - could it not be read to refer to a wooden ironwood varient of metal armors; or It could also be applied to the wooden armor listed in the advanced players guide with some kind of bonus? What options do I have?

It is a reference to armor crafted out of wood then enchanted using the 6th level Druid spell "Ironwood". The spell lays out how it works.

For the most part, a druid is limited to hide armor or light armors.

Not sure what book wooden armor is in, but you can check that book's entry in the Additional Resources to see its legality for PFS.

Ironwood spell is not available, not unless you're prepared to pay for it over and over every adventure. By PFS rules, the ironwood spell expires after every scenario.

Few things Dan..

This is a rules question not a PFS question...

ummm, It says Ironwood spell, it means ironwood spell. That said..

The important part of the Armor of Druid is "Druids are proficient with light and medium armor but are prohibited from wearing metal armor", so as long as the armor is no metal *Studded leather has metal* they can wear it. They can wear Wooden armor because it has no metal, there are a few others as well.

Where is Ironwood Special Material?

The key question is "In what PFS-legal resource is wooden armor statted out so it may be purchased and altered with an ironwood spell?"
My answer is "I don't know of any". I suggest your player look at some of the non-metal armors available in Ultimate Combat.

Wooden Armor is Stated out in the APG, and does not need to be altered by ironwood, it is legal for druids, and legal for PFS.

The context of the question was presented to me for a PFS character. So, yes, yes it is a PFS question which I know have implications all of which I may or may not be aware of since I have yet to see a Druid play under me in...ever. So, have never given them more than a cursory glance.

Thanks Dragn, right you are. But what we don't see are things like wood breastplate, wood scalemail, wood full platemail, etc. In a homegame the GM could easily stat it out and set a price or a Craft DC. Then the druid PC could buff his armor with an ironwood every fortnight or so. As we all know, in PFS there's no such latitude.

To further lay the context why I didn't just look it up myself. I'm at work with limited access to rules digging ability. I am also pressed for time to dig through the additional rules for druids, as I'm prepping for a session tomorrow, a session Friday, and a session Saturday. I knew there was probably some conflict with the rules from memory, but wasn't sure if there was a statted out wood armor somewhere. Thus, I asked you guys who may have more time than me, or more experience with Druids.

The druid could just use Dragonhide armor. It isn't metal so druids get full functionality.

he could use 2 PP to buy a Dragonhide Breastplate.

If he would rather have Dragonhide Full Plate he would need to wait for 18 Fame to buy it.

and if he goes with the Full Plate, he needs Heavy Armor Prof.
