Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Here is a prestige class that I've been kicking around as a replacement to the Dragon Disciple for Sorcerers. The Dragon Disciple still exists for other classes. It's also made to go side by side with my expanded half-dragon template which I've included here as well. Included within the HotD file is a small update to the Draconic Bloodline to account for the other True Dragon types that Paizo has released.

Liberty's Edge

Wonderful! I've had issues with them before is why I asked. Now if people would voice their opinions on what I've created.

I like what you're trying to do, but it seems overpowered. If I assume Dragon Disciple or eldritch knight as a baseline PrC. This class would be tier 0. Don't get me wrong I like the idea and would even like to see DD busted into 2 classes 1 for sorcer/casters and another for more melee classes.

Liberty's Edge

I've never understood the whole concept of tiering all the classes. You'll have to give suggestions on how to tone it down.

I am a bit tired now so maybe I miss something, but the only difference I see between HotD and classic Dragon Disciple is that Heir grants higher ability score boosts, more natural armor than DD and earlier Dragon Form with more uses at 10th level. So it seems to be just a better DD for a cost of extra feat and obligatory Draconic Sorcerer level.

Different ability scores for different dragons seem interesting but DD has them deliberately cut down from the half-dragon, which was intended as a template not a playable race (in fact James Jacobs specifically stated that it should be rarely applied to humanoid beings, instead being intended for non-humanoid monsters, such as dracolisk). Thus this should be a variant DD with the same ability boosts at the same levels with variations between ability score actually boosted (e.g. dragon color that you deem the most agile should apply the highest bonus to Dexterity instead of Strength, dragon deemed the most intellectual should favor Intelligence, etc.). Regardless of variable bonuses there should either be no bonus to Charisma or all dragon colors should grant the same bonus to Charisma to avoid too obvious choices.

the problem is that out of all Prc's DD actually is one of the best. Its easy to get into its got a lot of benefits for a lot of different builds. Then the issue becomes how to balance the change and I'm drawing a blank man sorry.

Liberty's Edge

My problem centers around the fact the the Dragon Disciple, and the original Half-Dragon Template, were one set of stats for 10 (or more) different types of half-dragons. So I rebuilt the template, and then discovered that the disciple no longer worked. So now I'm trying to rebuild it as well.

Liberty's Edge

I'll make some changes that I've had ideas for and then re-upload the class. I'm still interested in hearing what others have to say about it, and what ideas for changes that they may have.
