The Bornash is coming!!!!!!!!

Homebrew and House Rules

Ok, this idea is still in its early design phase.

A little world background… the setting is high magic towards magipunk Victorian age.

The Bornash is a gigantic sized Turtle who wanders the world eating and destroying everything in its past. On its back and burrowed into its shell is a community of gnomes (maybe Halflings?) living, 50 to 100. Like the turtle the roaming residents consume all resources they pass by. With its population maintaining a large warrior culture none can stop it.

To the world this is an unstoppable plague that travels unchecked the world for lifetimes. The Bornash is coming!!! In Enter our Heroes.

Design ideas? Please help flesh this idea with me.

how would you stat out a turtle whos shell is 20 acres across?

i invision bands of archers shooting down arrow on anyone brave/stupid enough to try a frontal assult.

Raiding partys attacking and pillageing anything wanted/needed for the bornash and/or village.

well the residents of the bornash clearly need some flying capacity.

i'd also tend to assume that the bornash itself was relatively immune to most normal methods of attack - presumably the PCs are supposed to find some ancient artifact or something to help stop it.

do the residents of its shell have some control over the beast? what keeps them from being ousted from their perch? since presumably the shell is the safest place for miles around.

Flying no problem. average citizins would use ropes, but magic is cheap and easly used by 90% of the world. only the poorest of the population havent been trained in basic magic.

control over the beast... ive spent the day with that on my mind... not sure if he is
1. intelengent and aware of the syimbotic relationship.
2. just a beast of burden that the gnomes control.
3. ?"??

I wouldn't try to stat him out, make him a dungeon. in order to defeat him the adventurers have to destroy his heart, etc. instead.

also he doesn't have to even be aware of the gnomes, what if he just destroys because he's a beast and the gnomes just live on his shell picking up the scraps of what he leaves behind. being that large he probably wouldn't even feel gnomes and like scurrying across his shell.

just some ideas that I thought of. hope they help

yea. more or less The Bornash is a walking, eating, and smashing fortress for the gnomes who call it home.

The bornash's Gnomes protect the Bornash from folks who try to kill it. ie. farmers whos fields it walked thru... the village survivors whos village it walked over... the empires army after it smashed the adquduct that feed the captal with water. '

The Bornash is not Evil just the last of its kind and is to big/dumb/old to care what it "steps on in the way". the Gnomes have a safe home and take advantage of the ever changing resorces that come there way.

Q. relativeally how fast and strong would a turtle this size be? a snapping turtle with a shell 20 acres across?

he should be slow, so that the entire world is not a burning ruin behind him. perhaps he takes long rests, but can move rapidly for short periods when inspired to do so?

why is he not in the water, or trying to get to water?

the gnomes should have flying cavalry, imho :P

st00ji i get that... but if a 1ft long turtle walks 4mph, longer legs meeans it walks fasterbut not to fast... maybe.. sleeps 8 days a month not 8hrs 1 day...

water... i dont know... i have a active imagination, im a truck driver i have lot of free time to think. i just envisioned it land based. my world is georaphicly earth (saves me time on maps) so over the millina it might of swam across seas or oceans...

flying cavalry? may be, i see tamed flying beasts only avable to the rich and powerful... griffins and Rocs aren't cheap... plus im not sure what CR this should be for. The gnomes dont have a army or a nation they are just a viggage on the back of a turtle. they are relitave simple. they steal what they need to survive.

I dont have a group right now. (new to town and cant find gamers, Wyoming isn't a big gamer pop :( ) so im just developing for fun.
