[Rite Publishing] Martial Arts Guidebook Patronage Project seeking Patrons!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

And the funding site is live! The promotional video shows some of the artwork for this project, too-- especially a great image from project artist Eric Quigley.

This is looking like a great project and a very reachable funding goal. I know we have many tiers planned depending on the response. If this is a project you want, please sign up! (just in the time I wrote this, we received our first backer and we're $100 closer to a green light!)

And joined. ^^

We're not quite a day out and already at $425! Thanks to everyone who's helping make this happen!

-Ben.

Just two days in and already we're at nearly the half-way mark!

This is fantastic progress, and I want to thank all of the current patrons for your support so early and so generous.

I know we're all looking forward to the green light, so we're trying to keep the momentum and spread the word by sharing news about this project as far and wide as possible. We think we know how to produce something worth playing, and every $1000 step we can manage past the first means another 32 pages-- at least for the first three! :D (and hey, there's always room for more and better art, or possibly adventures!) This isn't just Rite Publishing's project, it's yours too, and I know the development team is looking forward to brainstorming and talking with all of you.

Together we can make a this more than a good book, but a great project!

(Check out the link for a look at some of the artwork and the promo video, complete with a more detailed pitch!)

Is there any expected date for release after this gets funded? I assume additional pages will push back a release date.

Who's actually writing this? I couldn't see any info on that on the IndieGoGo page.

I don't believe a date is set yet, and probably won't be set until we close the funding period. I know there's some development going on now, to provide some preview material and to stay a bit ahead of the curve, but we don't want to do too much, so that there's nothing for patrons to contribute (just comment on).

The author is Timothy "Hawkins" Wallace, who's done quite a bit of Pathfinder conversion work at Rite Publishing and pitched this idea to Steve. Steve asked if I would join in a developer role after my work on Coliseum Morpheuon, Breaking of Forstor Nagar, Streets of Zobeck, and my patronage project experience. Eric Quigley is signed on as the artist.

Bump!

Look for an interview with Tim Wallace in Pathways #13 released tomorrow.

Also there is post showing the development of our promotional images by Eric Quigley HERE

Liberty's Edge

Really enjoyed the interview.

I'm very interested to see The School of the Golden Kirin now.

We are hard at work on our preview and a podcast.

Liberty's Edge

*bump*

I'm working with Timothy to make sure we've got a fairly meaty preview of some material. The hope is to have it up by next week. Steve's working on the podcast, I know he and Tim did some recording last week.

Thanks for the update.

Any news on this? I noticed it wasn't mentioned in your 2012 update, even when you specifically talk about how well work is going on the other 2 kickstarters that you did (which you mention as the only 2 kickstarters for the year), and my comment on your blog asking about this, which was submitted over a week ago, hasn't been approved yet.

Funny thing is this is run by Ben McFarland who I trust so much I forgot to ask about this when writing up the update. (sadly the blog does not notify of pending posts, I have to check it manually). We are still developing a manuscript at this point, and we have brought on additonal folk, like Matthew Stinson. I will get Ben and his crew to get you a more detailed answer on this.

Liberty's Edge

I figured that was the case with the blog, I just didn't want it to seem like I was trying to call you out here as a first option. Just so long as it is still moving forward I'm content, I was just worried that it being left out meant I'd missed an e-mail or something.

We're ready for playtest-- something I posted to the Rite forums for the project last week. With something as mechanical as this, I want to make sure we give it a good review before putting it into the world.

If you're interested in playtesting, contact me and we'll get you sorted. For this project, it's probably best to engage us via the Rite Forums-- I have those set to notify me about new posts, and didn't see this until Steve pointed it out to me.
