And of course Darelion, Shield of Flames: it was given from the fire god to a cavalier/crusader maiden belonging to the same party.
All bronze, with a giant lion's head protruding from the middle: it had all the powers of a Wand of Fire, but didn't expend charges.

A simple Shield +1. But we did retrieve it from Kobolds who used it as a soup bowl cause they didn't know it was useable for other things too. The smell of Koboldsoup never went away :-).

Dark Archive

Shield that reflected gaze attacks. GM forgot he gave it to me and then set us up against a succubi that had a gaze charm attack that induced lust. It took him a whole minute to decide if that meant she lusted after me or herself.

...I'll let you finish that story in your imagination...

Liberty's Edge

I know it's technically a wondrous item, but I'd have to go with the 2E Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity. One month I got nailed by three of them in three separate campaigns. It's a wonder that I still wear belts at all.

It wasn't anything special, but our gm gave us a +1 flaming burst spear, expecting us to sell it. Instead our group barbarian took it and used it to great effect. It was great watching the dm's face when the guy crit'ed with the spear, which he did a surprising amount, that he expected we'd never use.
