1 person marked this as a favorite.

We've been playing D&D 3, 3.5, and 4e, as well as a few other RPGs in #d&d on Austnet IRC for around 10 years. We've been playing PFS for about a year now and we're always looking for players.

Playing on IRC is super convenient. We've got:

  • A site, for where characters are uploaded to (among other things):
    http://dnd.ballig.net/

  • A newbie guide, for anyone new to playing online.

  • The creator of Combat Assistant, which is a much better and far-simplified version of Maptools (CA is really fantastic work, well worth taking a look at, and getting better with upcoming changes).

So if you're in Australia, it's absolutely worth coming in to see if it's your thing:
irc://irc.austnet.org/d&d or through Mibbit, though you'll eventually want a real client.

If you're not in Australia, we do have a few international people who fit our timezones, and if you fall into that category, you're just as welcome.

In the interests of speeding things up, we've recently started using Skype to talk about planning and for general banter (we've got a pretty relentless sense of humour in the group), but you're not obliged to use it if you don't want to.

Everyone's really helpful, if you have questions, you can always ask in channel and someone will help you - and there's no such thing as too many questions.

how do you handle chronicle sheets for the characters over IRC?

Shadow Lodge 3/5

Extract the PDF from the book, use a PDF editor to fill it in. Signing them is a bit of a bigger problem in terms of digital signature security, but we don't make too big a deal about that (worst case scenarios is initials on the signature line, but some of us have met up in person at cons and just signed it there).

Sending people a PDF is no issue. Harder to create than pen and paper - I'd love for Paizo to give us an online alternative, or to fully recognise that initials are fine for the signature as long as it gets reported.

We've got a new Google+ page.

I've been wanting to create this for a while (especially since Google+ opened up Pages), because the d20 circle I've been posting to isn't cutting it in terms of posting publicly.

We'll be posting interesting threads about the games, updates on new articles or content we release, and probably some more cool stuff down the line that I'm still thinking about.

Some of the older links I've posted in my D20 circle have already been reposted on the page for anyone who would have missed it.

Shadow Lodge 3/5

Aaand maybe I should post the link to that Google+ page.

D&D and Pathfinder Online

Dark Archive 1/5

Thought I should come here just to mention that the website has changed domains - we're now using http://www.pfrpg.com.au in the hopes of attracting more people looking to play Pathfinder and PFS online. We're not just for Australia, though; we have a number of people playing from the US, Canada and Singapore. I think there was a post on the boards here from a Venture-Captain who played with us - yep, found it: http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz5es3?Pathfinder-Society-on-IRC#2

Colour me interested! I used to spend hours on irc back in the day. And Australian time zones too! Bless!

Shadow Lodge 3/5

If you're interested, join up and tell us what brought you there and what you need.

Everyone in the channel is helpful, just tell them why you're there and they'll help you get set up for the upcoming sessions.

Grand Lodge 1/5

I am interested for sure

Don't email, IRC is chat rooms ("Internet Relay Chat").

There's some links on the front page of www.pfrpg.com.au, but this one is the quick lite method of getting in. Just come in and let us know who you are and why you're there. If nobody's around (unlikely), just wait a while and keep trying to grab our attention.

Bumping, because this thread is two years old and we're still going.

Games run once or twice weekly, and you'll get invites once you're registered on the site.

Mark off any scenarios you've already played by clicking on Pathfinder Society on the site, and you won't get invites to those games, and we can run games tailored to you. If more people haven't played a scenario, the more likely we are to run it.

I mentioned earlier that if you're in Australia it's handy, but about a third to a half of the channel isn't Australian. So you'll just get to hear some funky accents when we play.
