If you were multiclassed as a fighter/weapon master (p109 APG) and a cleric, would your total levels count toward your fighter skills? For instance, if you were a Fighter/Weapons Master and gained +1 to hit and damage with your favored weapon -- your diety's weapon -- would cleric levels apply to that or just your fighter levels?
I found the explanation on page 31 of the PH too ambiguous to figure out. It talks about total hit dice apply but sometimes not.
Anyone want to take a crack at this one? In Plain Common English?

When a class's ability descriptions refer to the character's level, it should always be read as if referring to levels in that class only.
Unless an ability specifically states something to the effect that "levels in xxx class stack with levels in yyy class when determining your level for how the ability functions".

So, if I understand you correctly, three levels in fighter would only give you three levels in any class abilities. Ten levels of cleric would NOT count. Do have that right?
A character that has 3 levels of Fighter and 10 levels of Cleric would have all the abilities of a 3rd level Fighter (at 3rd level ability, for those that increase by level), and all the abilities of a 10th level Cleric (at 10th level ability, for those that increase by level).
Put specifically, the character would have 2 bonus fighter feats (from 1st level and 2nd level), Bravery +1, and Armour Training 1. He would also have the cleric's aura, channel energy (5d6), spellcasting ability (at 10th cleric level), and any powers granted by his domains. If a domain states he gets a power at 12th level, he would not qualify (as he's only a 10th level cleric, even though he's a 13th level character).
Base Attack Bonuses, Saving Throws, Skill points, and hit points all stack, of course. This character would have a BAB of +10 (+7 from cleric levels, +3 from fighter levels), 10d8 hp from cleric levels, 3d10 hp from fighter levels, a Fort save of +10, a Ref save of +4, and a Will save of +8. All of this is assuming there are no extra bonuses from anywhere, of course (such as feats that increase saves, high Constitution adding to hp, etc.).
Did I clear it up, or muddy the waters even more?
