True Form - lycanthropy

Rules Questions

Okay- ... There's a member of our party that has managed to catch Lycanthropy- (And we didn't know they had it-... thus we were unable to remove it before the first full moon).

Said person is now running around the City as a Wererat..

What I want to know is- .. if I cast True Form on them- and they fail.. At the end of the spell, do they turn back into a Wererat? due to the full moon- or has the change been broken for the night?

"If the second save fails, the creature is locked in its true form for the duration of the spell", which is a minute or two. When the spell expires, the creature can polymorph again.

An afflicted lycanthrope can change its shape with a CON check as a full-round action and I don't see any limit to how often it can do so.

Reading further on, it looks to me as if the afflicted lycanthrope forgets its identity on the night of the full moon until the next dawn (unless it is cured of lycanthropy before that) regardless of whether it changes back into human form for any reason during the night.

I think the party member still has the mentality of a Bestiary standard wererat and wants to change back into animal form as soon as it can. When the spell expires, most likely it will immediately try to change in the next round.

Looking over the curse- ... I don't know if I can disagree with what you've said. I've always just kind of assumed that, when it comes to Lyconthropy- the Hybrid form would only be crazy on the night of the full moon... bbbuuutttt- I'm not so sure now.

I think I need to just talk to my DM for his ruling, I was just trying to find out if there had already been an official ruling on this subject anywhere. ^^

That seems almost right, except that an afflicted lycanthrope doesn't change into the hybrid form at the full moon, but rather the animal form.

If he's in his normal state of mind and deliberately makes a CON check to change form, he doesn't forget his identity.
