Hello everyone. I didn't end up moving when I thought, but I'm going to be moved to Franklin by this weekend. It seems, looking at the previous posts, that there will be a game this Saturday. I'd love to play. I've already played We Be Goblins, but I loved it. Are there going to be other games as well? Honestly I wouldn't mind playing that scenario again just as long as I get to play.

I'm not sure where you guys play, so please give me directions and more information on what's going to be played and what times. I look forward to playing with you all :)

Great to have you with us, leej! I'll save a spot at my We Be Goblins table for you, if you haven't already signed up for it at the Warhorn sight.

We are moving into our brand new FLGS, the Wyvern's Tale, which is on Merrimon Avenue, up by the university. Best way to get there coming from Franklin is to take 19-23 over to 40, and 40 to 240 East. Go up 240 east until you hit the Merrimon exit, and turn away from downtown. It's about 2 miles up, on the right, located at 347 Merimon avenue. Don't ask me about parking, cuz I don't know, but I'll be there with bells on!

See you all then! Sharpen those Goblin voices, and bring orange juice for throat-repair.

There is some parking behind the building and more behind the building next door if you get there after they close.

So I didn't realize until today that Free RPG Day was tomorrow (my FLGS doesn't have any RPG player base, so they aren't participating). I signed up for a couple of games tomorrow. Especially excited about playing my freshly level 6 Monk, with New-and-Improved Trip!

Also, I've never played down in Asheville except for Geekout. Do you hold strictly to the sign-ups on Warhorn, or are you likely to have people showing up and throwing off the table arrangements? (Those level 3's signed of for Dawn of the Scarlet Sun are in for a surprise, at least...)

Silver Crusade 1/5

We usually gather there every other Saturday and make tables when we see who shows up, this was a special event so We had the sign up, although there is possibility of extra tables being formed if we have extra players and a GM. This is the Saturday between our regular gatherings.

Everyone uses pregens for scarlet sun.... so no level three characters and also not your level six character. We accommodate as many willing positive people as possible.... we are never "strict"... sorry if that throws you off.

Granyt brings up an interesting point... is there room for an overflow group, and is anyone else planning on bringing GM gear besides Jake, Jason, Justin and Dain? Both 5:30 games are full so if there is room, a third table would be wise. I'm working all day tomorrow... can you guys hash these things out with WT first thing? Let me know if I need to bring GM stuff.

Sovereign Court

I know I will most likely not be there for the second session of games (schedule conflicts ... gotta love 'em).

Also, Jake, no luck on the minis (they shipped out today, no chance they will get here before 11am tomorrow), so we're looking at making due with what we got.

3/5 RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2013 Top 16

How come it's pregens only? That's not part of the rules for the scenario.

And not being strict doesn't put me off. It's just that it's a 1 1/2 hour drive for me, so I don't want to go all that way if tables are likely to fall apart.

Silver Crusade 4/5

RainyDayNinja wrote:

Dawn of the Scarlet Sun is a strictly Pre-gen scenario as it stands for Free RPG Day. The scenario was written for 6 lvl 5 15point build characters, Society is a 20point build.

This comes from the Free RPG Day discussion on the boards. It will most likely be a different story after tomorrow but we will be using the Pre-gens for the event.

Thanks for trying dude, if I can't pick up one tomorrow I have some figs that will work nicely.

Sovereign Court

Well, with it being Free RPG Day, running with Pregens allows both folks who have never played PFS as well as those who may not have a PFS character at level 5 (for 6 players) or 6 (for 4 players) ... this does include me as well as many, if not most of the APL folks ... to play the scenario. Everyone still gets a scenario sheet for playing through and it can be applied to a PFS character of your choosing (though we will need to know which one to report the scenario).

As to the "strict" nature, I would say that those that signed up via Warhorn have priority, though if they are not present at the start time, their seat goes up for grabs. It only makes sense for using Warhorn for signups ... otherwise there is no point to using it. ;)

EDIT: ninja'd by Jake!!!

Could you point me to that post? All I can find says you can use either the level 5 pregens, or a level 4-6 PFS character. I don't see anything making distinctions between Free RPG Day, and other events.

EDIT: Found this post from the Free RPG Day thread that says the exact opposite.

Michael Brock wrote:

The Chronicle download will just be a Chronicle. It works exactly like all other sanctioned modules.

You can use your own PFS character that fits in the level range.

Per the OPG, page 23, a player who uses a pregenerated character in a sanctioned module must apply the Chronicle sheet to a newly created 1st-level character. This is for sanctioned modules. The rule on page 4 that allows you to hold the chronicle until your character reaches the level the played pregen is referring to modules only. It is unclear wording and will be cleared up in Guide 4.2.

It works the same as every other sanctioned module, with the exception that it will award 1 xp like MotFF or We Be Goblins due to it being approx. the same size as a scenario.

As well as this one and the reply, again from Michael Brock.

I don't mean to seem confrontational or pushy, but I'd just hate to miss a chance to play my highest-level character. I don't have a more local game around, so I don't get to play regularly.

As another has commented he seems to keep changing his mind depending on what thread you look at. One place he says we can only use the Pre-gens due to the scenario not being built specifically for society then switching it on us in a different thread.

Lvl 4-6 characters will be excepted into my game tomorrow, and the Pre-gens will be the lvl 5 ones it comes with if a player does not have one.

I haven't seen any mind-changing on allowing regular PFS characters, but I did see that on the issue of what pregens to use. However, the Devs seemed to come to an agreement on using the level 5 pregens for PFS just on this one module here.

What time do things start?

Early game at noon, second game 5:30, The store is supposed to be opening at 11

Yep, reading through it, I have to agree. Pregens or level 4-6 PFS characters. Pregens would have the chronicle sheet applied to a new 1st level PFS character of your choosing (to clarify my earlier statement ... that's what I get for posting while exhausted).

You know how every satchel has that one pocket you never use? Yep, the sheet was there.

Whew!

Hello all. I recently attended the Wyvern's Tale grand opening and I met a few of you that attend the Lodge's meetings. I was wondering if I could ask someone to fill me in on the setup and scheduling and let me know if I can jump into Pathfinder with you guys. I would really appreciate the help and the experience.

Thanks,

Lucas Rumney

Silver Crusade 1/5

We usually meet every other Saturday, this would normally have been the weekend to not meet, We have been starting about 6 but there is talk about trying to move that to 5. As far as jumping in goes, just make sure you have a good acrobatics skill so you don't hurt yourself.

Liberty's Edge 2/5

Congratulations to everyone. That was a pretty magnificent turnout. To those who couldn't make it into the We Be Goblins game, my sincere apologies. To those who did, congratulations on a very successful run! I hope all you new players had a lot of fun, and I will see you at the next couple meetings of PFS!

What're we running next week? I think I need to dust off Buliwyf and get some quality clobbering time in.

Lucas,

Yes, Granyt is correct for our schedule and our next official session is next weekend. Start time has been 6pm , but we are pushing for a 5pm start time. Keep an eye on the boards for updates for next weekend.

Also, I just wanted to say if you are the Lucas who got bumped from the Scarlet Sun table at noon, it was very classy to let the two walk ups play. Kudos to you on that and you are welcome at my table anytime.

Silver Crusade 5/5

I just wanna say thanks to the Goblin King and "POOG KILL DOG"...

Gotta take a one session break, so skipping next week, but I shall return!

Luth/Poog/James out.....

I look forward to playing with all of you! I do not believe that was me, but I would surely like to someday meet this twin of mine who must have great Karma. I give my seats to old ladies if that counts enough to still receive your invitation to play at your table. I wouldn't want to take credit for a good deed I didn't do. Where exactly are the meetings going to be at?

Hello! I'm one of the new players who got to be a goblin yesterday! I had lots of fun and look forward to playing more soon. Just wanting to confirm that it's completely okay for a brand, brand new player like me to start showing up to regular meetups? (the person who talked me into playing in the first place told me to just jump in and see what happens.) anything special I should know before hand? (I promise to have a slightly better grasp of which skill does what this time. lol)

Sovereign Court

Hey y'all. There was an adjustment to the way 16-page Pathfinder Free RPG Day Modules (this includes Dawn Scarlet Son, We Be Goblins! and Master of the Fallen Fortress) were to be handled that went into effect on June 7th which I missed completely; and I'm not sure if Jake or Justin caught it either.

Rewards for these modules is 1 XP, 1PP and the GP amount listed on the chronicle if you are running on the Standard advancement track or 0.5 XP, 0.5 PP and 1/2 the GP listed on the chronicle sheet if you are running on the Slow advancement track. The updated FAQ entry can be found here.

for those who have played one of these 16 page adventure prior to the 7th, the original values remain the same, so no worries on that front, but it does affect yesterday's games.

that said, I will prep replacement sheets for the folks who were at my table (the 12pm Dawn Scarlet Son table) and bring them to next Saturday's regular session.

Yep, all comers are welcome to join in the bi-weekly festivities.

As to what you should know, if you have not done so already, you should download the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play. It's a free download and goes over the PFS specific rules for character creation, class adjustments, etc.

If you do not have the core rules, I would recommend picking them up (you can get them at Wyvern's Tale or if you prefer PDF, you can get that here for $10).

There is also the PRD if you are strapped for cash, BUT just remember that PFS does require the player to provide the documentation of aspects to their character creation, no the GM, so you will want to eventually pick up the books (or PDFs) ... we're pretty loose about that requirement at our regular meetings since there is never any shortage of books amongst all the regulars, but for Con play, it's better safe than sorry.

thanks! I'm looking through that guide now and I'm sure I will have no regrets dropping money into the Wyvern's Tale for the book sometime in the near future. I had been looking through it yesterday with much excitement to learn something new.

It was so good to see so many familiar and new faces at the grand opening! I for one, had an absolute blast.

For next week, I'll be running 3-02 Sewer Dragons of Absalom. (Seriously this time). It's a 3-4 tier, so sadly it will be veteran pathfinders with a 3rd level character or above only. Eaghen made some noises about running some 0-season mods... who else is running? We may very well have 3 (or dare I say 4?) tables worth of people.

See you guys around 5pm!

Sovereign Court

Oooo ... dare I bring my 4th level Rogue and get in a game? Dare I?

I'll prep something just in case, but if there is something Sarina can run in, that would be cool.

There was some talk last night about possibly running two session blocks on game weekends. Is this something folks would be into? The only way I could see this working would be to do a 12p-4p slot of games and a 5p-9p slot. This would also give a 1 hour break so folks could grab some grub if needed.

If folks are interested in this, I would be willing to run a 12pm slot this upcoming weekend (partly so I could also get in some gaming time with my 4th level Rogue). Of course, this would depend on people actually being interested in an earlier game slot, so speak up folks if you are interested.

I would be down with that. I would prefer running at 12 so I can get into that same high lvl game that evening too.

So it would be Zylph and I running at 12 then Thorynn and whoever else at 5.

That Is if we have the players to fill two tables at 12...

I and Mark Would be interested, and Courtney says Maybe.

Scarab Sages 1/5

yeah, I can't rock out all day like I did for the grand opening. I can usually pull that off once every three months or so, but other than that, I think I'd have to restrict myself to one slot. Tho it is tempting now that we have such an awesome space...

Scarab Sages 1/5

Also, does anyone has those flyers that Eaghen printed up back a few months? We should get some info up in the shop for people who are interested.

While the fliers are awesome looking (I'm looking at one right now) they contain no other info then an e-mail. We need to make one with more info.

What info do we need? I guess our meetimg times, and the URL of this forum, right? I could throw something together...

And address of WT, sounds like We have enough for at least one early table if not two at noon, and the second starting at 5, so I would suggest put both start times.

Much love to the Wyvern's Tale Krewe for hosting such a slam-bang awesome new opening. It was great to see all sorts of new faces mixed in with the old faces.

I have taken care of the event listing. You'll find it here. I do hope the two-headed Lodge meeting will work out nicely. We'll just need to make certain that peeps is keeping to the schedule so we don't run long and delay games from starting.

Catch y'all around the Lodge.

Hey, I had a lot of fun there on Saturday. Thanks to all the GMs and my fellow players. I just hope I can get that kind of turn out when I start my game here in Kingsport.

Sovereign Court

FYI, there is a Pathfinder Quest that is in KQ #17 that I may run if the scenario I run gets completed early enough. It's a short 2-3 encounter thing, grants no XP, but you get a boon of sorts.

That said, I will be running with a 20 second turn declaration (if you don't say what your PC is going to do in 20 sec, you are holding your action until you figure out what you want to do). Hopefully, it will get us through the scenario quickly enough to run through the quest as well.

As to the scenario, I'm thinking Quest for Perfection Part I ... and then Part II and II as the next two scenarios I run.

Scarab Sages 1/5

We made it all the way thru those in APL-South. All I've got to say is if you've got a monk, bring him to the third part of quest for perfection. Seriously awesome monk item there.

Silver Crusade 5/5

Really want to complete the Quest for Perfection trilogy... only missing part one.... Someone promise to run it next session pretty pretty please... still taking this weekend off.
