I'll be there on Fridays most of the time, and I am working of learning how to make a great druid for you! Also, you can always bring other new people to the Training Lodge!
Thanks Justin for the assignment... added a new member to my Cheliax Family
EDIT: I will be running The Frostfang Captives (1-5) on Friday if anyone wants to show up and fill out the table

I'm currently working on a new character idea. He's a level one rogue and in making him I'm planning out all his feats and talents.
I'm wondering though since it isn't specified anywhere, does a rogue have to qualify for a talent in order to use take it on their list?
A good example would be at level two you get a rogue talent, could I use "Combat Trick" to take Vital Strike even though it has higher requirements than I currently have?

I think I've got it. Looks like I have it. Looks like I picked up a mini of a blonde character by accident.
I'll hold on to it until I can get it to you.
Excellent!! Thanks for checking Chris. I'll get her from you next APL weekend.

Also, you can only take any given rogue talent once, so if you take Combat Trick, make sure it is something that (1) you really want and (2) is not covered by any other rogue talent.

Welcome aboard Ashleigh. I promise I won't hold your PC being a Cheliax member against you ... too much. ;)
No shes Silver Crusade... Bleh... But Justin is having me do druid research for her so i am making my inquisitor's twin as a druid
As of now I have
Iriel Lassire- Inquisitor
Kaylee Lassire- Gunslinger (Iriel's Half Sister... She's a Half Elf)
and now Drusilla "Dru" Lassire- Druid (Iriel's Twin Sister)
Andy, What scenario will you run so I can set up the Event?

"Rogue Talents: Any rogue who meets the prerequisites can take any of the following rogue talents. A rogue cannot take a talent more than once, unless the talent states otherwise. Talents marked with an asterisk (*) add effects to a rogue's sneak attack. Only one of these talents can be applied to an individual attack, and the decision must be made before the roll is made."
Just as a reference, Sonne.
Galen and Andy, I'll list your Friday games on the WarHorn site. Sign up, people!!! I'd suggest making the game times 1PM and 6PM if you're going to run two separate games....it gives people more time to finish the first game, and allows those who work until 5PM to get to the WT for the later game. Thanks for stepping up, guys! Time to use that GM 101 knowledge.
Speaking of GM 101....I want to thank everyone who made it possible, starting with Deklan and Simeon and the WT crew who boxed out the entire upstairs for us on a Friday night. Many thanks to my fellow faculty, and of course, the 16 gamer-students that rocked the course. We've taken notes and already plan on running it again in January with some refined content and more emphasis on the Deck of Many Encounters!!!
Awesome APL Saturday, people. I understand we almost had a TPK (total party kill, for those of you not hip yet to the lingo)....I'll be expecting some player obituaries from the responsible GM (*cough cough* Jake).
MACE is this weekend in Charlotte. Awesomeness and fun. Get in on a day-trip if you're not going to be there the entire time. Here's the link.
Happy Monday, my malicious Mwangi.

Something for the Season:
The Cats - H.P. Lovecraft
Babels of blocks to the high heavens tow’ring,
Flames of futility swirling below;
Poisonous fungi in brick and stone flow’ring,
Lanterns that shudder and death-lights that glow.
Black monstrous bridges across oily rivers,
Cobwebs of cable by nameless things spun;
Catacomb deeps whose dank chaos delivers
Streams of live foetor, that rots in the sun.
Colour and splendour, disease and decaying,
Shrieking and ringing and scrambling insane,
Rabbles exotic to stranger-gods praying,
Jumbles of odour that stifle the brain.
Legions of cats from the alleys nocturnal,
Howling and lean in the glare of the moon,
Screaming the future with mouthings infernal,
Yelling the burden of Pluto’s red rune.
Tall tow’rs and pyramids ivy’d and crumbling,
Bats that swoop low in the weed-cumber’d streets;
Bleak broken bridges o’er rivers whose rumbling
Joins with no voice as the thick tide retreats.
Belfries that blackly against the moon totter,
Caverns whose mouths are by mosses effac’d,
And living to answer the wind and the water,
Only the lean cats that howl in the waste!

anyone going to be at the Tale this Wednesday after 4pm that has herolab? I'm folding under 10 characters that all need love and recovering from being sick. I need to get at least 3 characters ranging from level 2-7 up to snuff before MACE or I may have some frusterated GMs (other then me).
This is a lesson to all the new players from a friendly GM (I didn't mean to kill them) keep track of ya 5617, a level 7 with whole levels of purcheses not tracked (blame it on SCARAB ;P ) is a pain. It is not the sole responsibility of the GM to track all of that stuff. Set aside a few minutes after each session to take a breather and reflect on the potions and charges used, pick up that cure mod to fill the void left by that yeti that really wanted to eat your spleen. I want to start seeing Chronicle sheets that tell me how your breakfast was (or how much you wish you had one).
Again this is a friendly reminder and also a cautionary tale. Learn to love writing stuff on those sheets you get after every Session.
- best wishes from a GM on Pain meds

Happy Gobbo-ween, people!
1) MACE this weekend! See the post above by DC (the one with 5 stars) to check games.
2) PFS at the WT this Friday! One afternoon and one evening game on the schedule. Check it out HERE.
3) PFS at the DeckBox next Tuesday! We had seven people last week.....we may need two tables this week!!! Check it out on Warhorn (above).
4) A full slate of games (including some higher-tier stuff - COOL) has been posted for the 11/10/12 APL Lodge Game Day. Sign up on Warhorn today, and if you're interested in running a game that day, hit me up here.
5) The one year anniversary of the Asheville Pathfinder Lodge (APL) is rapidly approaching - make sure you've cleared out your schedule on 12/15. We will be running the mega-mega-awesome multi-table mayhem special scenario BLOOD UNDER ABSALOM. You need to be there.
Now go get some candy!

Several GMs have asked, "What to I need to bring to MACE?" If you are running/GMing for SCARAB at MACE or anywhere else for that matter you do not need to bring anything other than a great attitude and enthusiasm and it is recommended that you bring the copies of the core assumption you need.
- We provide maps and mapping materials
- We provide Minis, counters, etc
- We will have the scenarios printed and ready to go (NO you may not keep them - they belong to the SCARAB library)
- We will have chronicles printed
- We will have the handouts and faction missions printed
- We will have a printer available
- We have extra everything, dice, minis, pens, pencils, etc
- We have dozens of copies of the core assumption available
- We will have Hero Lab available and usually bring at least one Hero Lab computer
- We have PFS IDs for new players and sign-in sheets for GMs

I'm in Charlotte already, I brought all my GM stuff even after experiencing SCARAB GMing at a past con. I will be leaving it all in the car though, a light pack makes for a happy back.

Well, I've been meaning to make a magic user for some time.. Just never did research into it. Its my pleasure to help!
If your learning divine is a great start, arcane has a few more rules to make it tricky, like armor spell fail chances... My favorite is divine, more flexible and can usually do anything an arcane caster tries with a proper build.

I agree that divine casters have a bit more flexibility (full spell access, no spell failure checks, etc.) and are a blast to play, but I have to disagree that divine casters can usually do anything an arcane caster tries with a proper build. The two are vastly different creatures.
Spells being the prime example, and while there is some overlap (detect magic, read magic, dispel magic, etc., there are plenty of spells that are not emulated by the other caster type with the bulk of variety weighted to the arcane caster (there is no divine build I know of that gives the equivalent to disintegrate, dimension door, black tentacles, magic missile or grease to name a few ... flight is even not an option unless you take the Travel Domain ... the closest they come to being able to teleport is word of recall which is a much less versatile spell in many ways).
But, as with anything, YMMV.
Additionally, divine casters are indeed the best place to "get your feet wet" as far as playing spell casting classes. You still have the basic mechanics without some limitations imposed on the arcane classes.

Also you might want to look at spontaneous casters, it is a little easier to master when you only have to worry about knowing 3 or 4 spells at first level. And you can cast the spells you know alot ;)

Yeah, in my experience, arcane casters get the better spell list, while divine casters get better... well, pretty much everything else.
