Surprise Round Actions

Rules Questions

I was just rereading the rules for combat in the rule book, and I noticed on p. 178 that it says "Combatants who started the battle aware of their opponents each take a standard or move action during the surprise round." I thought, that the combatants who were aware received a full action, but apparently this is not the case.

Yup, aware characters only receive one move or one standard action. I believe it's been this way since 3.5, though I could be mistaken.

how about a swift action?
Can players that act in the surprise round take a standard action AND a swift action?

And there is ways to get a fullround action in the suprise round..

You cannot take a swift action during a surprise round, though you can perform as many free actions as your GM allows.

I know this is a horrible necro, but this is factually incorrect. Look up swift actions and when you can take them. They specifically state that they can be taken if you are allowed to take free actions. And you are specifically allowed a free action in a surprise round.
