It's time to change your password at the very least, and you're probably going to want to keep an eye on your credit card account just in case.
From the news I read, only the forum database was compromised. So, if you have different passwords for the forums and for the account, you're probably golden.

I would usually assume the compromise was deeper than the party is letting on. Even going public with this is a cost in terms of reputation and confidence. Admitting that CC data was stolen is a much deeper, highly damaging "breach of trust". From what I hear, SOE is still recovering from the attacks.
I hope steam is telling their customers everything, but if I were affected, I would keep a very close eye on my credit card.

I've been coming across some conflicting reports from different folks("they thought it was Steam-wide but it was just the forums"/"they thought it was just the forums but it turned out to be Steam-wide").
What's for certain is that Gabe Newell himself sent out a letter saying that they found that Steam user data may have been compromised while investigating the forum hack, and he pretty much came right out and said "change your passwords and watch your accounts". That's probably the most worrying thing, to have the big guy himself come right out with what Sony would have considered the worst case scenario to dance around. Taking precautions regardless. I never used their forums but better safe than sorry.
To be honest I have a lot more faith in Valve being upfront about what's going on than Sony was with their situation. This sucks, but knowing their rep it wasn't for a lack of security.
Good thing they didn't adhere to Valve Time for this situation too...
(we'll probably get some new TF2 hats out of this)

I havent bought anything on the credit card I use for game purchases since the Sony hack. I cancelled those cards from the sony hack, and never bothered to buy anything new on Steam since then. Steam still has the info from my cancelled card.
I really hope they nail these hackers and prosecute these idiots to the fullest extent of the law. I'm getting tired of this.
