Hey all,
Little problem. My group is tends to be a bit on the power gamer side so I run CR+1 on all encounters normally and they handle them fine. Most of the creature modifications I handle in prep or on the fly.
Well they just started adventure 3 and I'm sure I'm going to need Vordakai at a non-atrophied level. While that is not a problem, his phylactery is. He'll be 11th or 12th level and and will be able to come back in his phylactery. So now the protection magic on it will become important. What kinds of protections should I put on it? Remember, he was 20th level at one point so I don't want to make it far to easy for a group of 10th-ish level PCs to beat it, I don't want to make it impossible either.

Dale, I'm sure you've seen the 6-person Kingmaker thread, but if not check here. General Chaos (big props btw, GC) built an awesome protector for Vord. It could definitely be a way to get the challenge without worrying about the Phylactery (although they then have to worry about the protector's "Phyl").
Also, I photoshopped some much more talented artists' work together to make a picture of Vord's Protector (which is why I won't just post it, since the pieces in and of themselves are not my original artwork). If you'd like it for your game Dale, just let me know and I can e-mail it to you.

Though frankly if a 20th level lich's phalcry isn't Nigh impossible to destroy I'm shocked he made it to 20th level.
