Cleric of Gorum with a 2 level dip in Barbarian (Armored Hulk). You become a Cleric who wears heavy armor, can rage (with 1 rage power), and if you select the Strength (Ferocity) domain you gain Ferocious strike (+ 1/2 your cleric level to damage on one hit (3+wis a day)).

Max your Strength and pick up Power attack.

Smash.

Hmm, If it is only one domain, you could do the same thing with an inquisitor, and get the inquisitor's judgements....

Isn't there a Rage Subdomain that gives you extra rounds of rage (stacking with Barbarian) and two more Rage powers? I don't remember which domain it's in, but I refuse to believe Gorum doesn't grant it.

Rage Subdomain

Associated Domain: Destruction.

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the destructive aura power of the Destruction domain.

Rage (Su): At 8th level, you can enter a fearsome rage, like a barbarian, for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. At 12th and 16th level, you can select one rage power. You cannot select any rage power that possesses a level requirement, but otherwise your barbarian level is equal to 1/2 your cleric level. These rounds of rage stack with any rounds of rage you might have from levels of barbarian.

Replacement Domain Spells: 2nd—bull's strength, 6th—moonstruck*.

I'm not talking about Gasault or however you spell it, I'm talking some good combos that you wouldn't necessarily consider making.

I've seen a Wizard/Bard combo do pretty good and it got me thinking of other combos to consider.

Monk/Rogue = Flurry + Sneak Attack is sick

Rogue/Barb = Sneak Attack + Rage is also sick

Cleric and pretty much every other class in the game. Seriously. Name a class, and I'll name a Cleric domain that most folks in that class would happily spend two feats on.

Barbarian? Strength, Chaos
Bard? Charm, Knowledge, Healing
Fighter? Strength, Rune, Travel
Monk? Plant
Paladin? Good, Law, Healing, Strength
Ranger? Feather
Rogue? Darkness
Sorcerer? Magic, Travel, Weather
Wizard? Magic, Rune, Knowledge

And that's just from Core, without even checking the book. (I left druids out on purpose, because they already get to pick domains.)

Liberty's Edge

barbarian[urban] is meth-laced nitro for any high DEX melee concept.

i'm surprised nobody's come up with paladin/ninja yet. wasn't that everyone's wet dream when you where 13? now you know why ninja uses CHA for ki pool ;)
just kidding, doesn't actually work that well...hellavulot of mindbending neccesary for that one

I wouldn't be so sure, you could totally go dark knight on someone with that idea. For extra fun make it Paladin/ninja/shadowdancer.

TW fighting synergizes well with both sneak attack and smite evil, the shadow dancer gives good opportunities for sneak attacks, and all three of them require a good CHA score. A Dexing paladin seems funny but it works mechanically.

As for justifying flavor? Well I'm not sure if there is anything in RAW prohibiting paladins from benefiting from sneak attack, I mean they are allowed to coup de grace and can flank with a rogue. You could say that a spirit of dark justice is inhabiting the paladin's body, and uses such ruthless tactics only out of a nessessity to combat evil. Plus who doesn't think batman can be interpreted as lawful good?

This is my interpretation

also comes with a handy "remove paladin status now"-button, aka poison use. in case you ever wanna go real badass. seriously, i really respect players who lose their paladin-hood and go bare-bones afterwards.

Hmm, I wonder for a PFS concept if a magus would get enough benefit out of a sor 1 dip to warrant the slower progression.

+ wildblooded sor 1 (karmic), AoO if you fail to cast defensively, a 4/day immediate action minor curse when someone hits you, true strike and liberating command that have no need for arcane spell failure checks. Greater spell trigger item access without investing in UMD, and a couple more class skills.

- Cha cannot be dumped, magus casting/ability progression slowed by one level, and -1 BAB.

Liberty's Edge

+1 Paladin/Ninja = Dark knight.
My combo would also include Oracle of Lore/ Side step Secret for 1 lvl dip and take the hit to dex. Offset with reactionary trait & Improve iniative and go for 20 Charisma by lvl 4. Works because Batman has all of the intel, which means revelations for cha to knowledge checks and focused trance. This guy will be in your face from the start of the fight to the end, but on the off chance he needs a battarang, Smite evil compensates for a crappy dex score. by 5th level,+5 AC, +9 fort, +12 Reflex, +9 will, 5 1d6 lay on hands make for a quick field medic, 5 ki pool and forgotten ninja trick gives you enough to play with and keep to the shadows. After this, the build can go a lot of ways. 3 levels in monk + 10 in ninja would net you the awesome martial art prowes batman is known for with monastic legacy and the 12thlevel ninja master trick that adds your ninja lvl - 4 to you equivalent monk unarmed strike damage. You'd be ready for Arkham City then.

Another combo, less likely to come up because you loose a lot, but gain massive constant benifits is Magus/Arcane Archer with your focus more on archery than casting. Enchant your + 1 Seeking & Corrosive bow with Haste, flame & Frost, while every non magical arrow you draw is +5 Holy, distance & Shocking burst. I'm puch-drunk tired right now, so I don't remeber the combo, but I had a +16 base with rapid shot, many shot and speed i was some how getting 7 arrows doing 7d6 + 15 per hit. 7d6 cause I was using a shortbow.

What's turning into my favorite combo, is the untouchable (abyssal) bloodrager/Sacred mountain monk/Boxer Pugilist, the DR stack is fantastic, the negatives to AC from bloodrager are completely balanced out by the benefits to AC via monk, and your spell resistance is high too; just go look into it (try the dragon style feats with it for a nasty surprise)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My 2 favorites currently are
Magus/Oracle(wind): vortex spells with a 18-20 (eventually 15-20) crit range is pretty cool.

and
Druid/Ninja: turn invisible with vanishing trick, wildshape into something nasty while inviso, scare the crap out of your opponent when you attack them and become visible again.

6 year necrothread, impressive.

While I'm here, I may as well mention 3 wierd combos that work for me and are a blast to play. All are currently active in PFS play

1) CORE Campaign Cleric of Urgathoa/3 Fighter/2 Shadowdancer/3 Barbarian/1 wielding a scythe while Spring Attacking or Whirlwind Attacking. Next two levels will be Barbarian/2 and Rogue/1 She's a mentally disturbed half-elf from Nidal with a Shadow she calls Mommy.

2) Regular Campaign Mesmerist/2 Telekineticist/1 My Jadwiga Sith Lord wielding a two-bladed sword. Based off Darth Zannah and is all about the fear and mind-affecting with an ocasional force push.

3) Regular Campaign Pack Rager & Sea Reaver Unchained Barbarian/7 Freebooter Ranger/2 My Tengu pirate dual-wielding a +1 Blood Crystal Rhoka Sword of Wounding and a +1 Adamantine Swordbreaker Dagger (Scabbard of Bleeding Edges). All about disarming opponents and then bleeding them dry.

the ultimate punch you in the face character scaled fist unchained monk, enlightend paladin, sacred fist warpriest and free style fighter gets multiple styles at the same time along with cha to ac and cmb wis to ac and cmb cha as a dodge bonus and many other really nice goodies

Paladin rogue is a great combo but I'm pretty sure the paladin will instantly fall. ;)

nope just cuz your a rogue doesnt mean you have to do bad things there was a group i know of who had a paladin rogue and he was the lawyer for the group when half the party got arrested under false charges paladin rogue can make a potanat combo if done right

Paladin/Ninja works better

Oracle of Lore 1 combined with any charisma based class. Get reflex saves and AC based off charisma, take extra revelation to turn knowledge skills into charisma based if you want (add circlet of persuasion to them too now). Take the deep one curse for a free swim speed. Take the dual cursed archetype and another extra revelation for the amazing misfortune revelation.

Dark Archive

The builds concepts I've put together are:

Oracle 1 / Shaman X: Noble Scion War + Lunar mystery for CHA to AC, Reflex, and Initiative) - all mental stats to pull from wizard list/cleric list.

Paladin 2 (Divine Hunter)/ Mesmerist X: Go Ifrit for free improved initiative - this guy a decent archer and can trigger a delayed progression SA equivalent from the mesmerist painful stare while giving out debuffs or illusions or enchantments from range. At level 4 mesmerist painful stare can effect things immune to mind compulsion so you get SA at range once per round guaranteed with archery DPR. Some nice spells for survival and mesmerist tricks to round out the build. CHA to saves, lay on hands, and 1/day smite from the Paladin dip as well as the free precise shot feat from the archetype.

UnMonk (scaled fist) 1 /Paladin (Divine Hunter) 2 / UnRogue X (Scout/Thug): Intimidate, switch hitter, DEX based reach fighter. Also has great skills/UMD and uses a finessed elven branched spear for Dex to hit/damage, lots of AoOs, and SA. Phalanx Formation and Deadeye Bowman trait from Erastile allows him to ignore all softcover for range and reach, making him versatile. SA from Cornugon Smash + Shattered Defenses or on a charge. Monk gives him unarmed strikes for inside reach (couple with extend arms or enlarge for battlefield control), CHA to AC, Flurry, and early access to Dragon Style. CHA to saves, lay on hands, and 1/day smite from the Paladin dip as well as the free precise shot feat from the archetype. Both dips maintain the BAB of the character.

Oracle (Spirit Guide) X / Sorcerer (Cross-blooded) 1: Go Kitsune for +1 DC to enchantments, grab Noble Scion War + Lunar mystery for CHA to AC, Reflex, and Initiative. Grab Fey/serpentine for +2 DC to enchantments and enchantments effect more kinds of things. Grab all Kitsune magical tail feats with wrecking mysticism curse/level progression feats. Grab Tiger Animal companion from Lunar mystery (only 1 level behind from 1 level dip). At level 4 oracle take ancestor spirit for CHA to all INT skill checks. Pump CHA sky high as it goes to so many things, then get a headband of CHA +4 and circlet of persuasion to add to CHA checks (includes the initiative from Noble Scion War). Its my make everyone do anything you say build.

1 Swashbuckler (Inspired Blade) / X Investigator (Empiricist): This is hardly a new multiclass though. Tons of forum arguments over this dex based build vs. a straight str based build.

Various Oracle/Paladin Oradins builds out there

Antipaladin/Rogue has some options to become the deadliest intimidate-based warrior in existence.

I've been toying around with a theoretical character design I might play someday.

Tattooed Sorcerer 1/Witch X

You pick the Fey bloodline for +2 DC with Compulsion spells, and Enchantment school for your free Mage's Tattoo for +1 CL with Enchantment spells. Then as a Witch you have access to lots of fun Compulsion/Enchantment spells with those bonuses, and you don't need to worry about your Familiar getting killed because it's a tattoo.

I've just started running a new campaign, so have been building some NPCs for possible use later on in the game. A few of the more interesting combos are:

* Monk (wanderer)/master spy - a spymaster for a foreign military power.
* Rogue (acrobat)/sorcerer (shadow)/shadowdancer - leader of a criminal organization that reveres a god of shadows, thieves, and tricksters.
* Bard (sandman)/rogue (rake)/arcane trickster - a silver-tongued magic-wielding braggart. [Created by my wife for the fun of it, released to me for future use.]
* Fighter/duelist/inquisitor - ex-royal guard who joined a vengeance cult after her king was killed.
* Druid (plant domain)/sorcerer (verdant)/mystic theurge - fey master of plant magic.
