Summoner Equipment

Advice

Grand Lodge

I have a question about the kind of gear that is good for a Summoner.

Details of my character::

Full Pathfinder Society restrictions
Gnomish Level 6 Basic Summoner
Primary Weapon: Light Crossbow, almost never used.
Secondary Weapon: Mace, never used.
Feats: Point-Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Extra Evolution

Spells known::

Acid Splash
Detect magic
Read Magic
Guidance
Mage Hand
Message
Enlarge Person
Grease
Rejuvenate Eidolon, Lesser
Shield
Evolution Surge, Lesser
Glitterdust
Invisibility
Haste

Eidolon::

Is a quadruped strength-based mutli-attacker. I'm trying to max my attacks and then max the damage those attacks do.

Gear I have::

I'm only going to bring up the items I think are significant, masterwork, or potions.
+1 Cloak of Resistance
+2 Headband of Alluring Charisma
+2 belt of Giant's Strength (on Eidolon)
Ion Torch
Metamagic Rod, Extend, Lesser
Wayfinder, standard
Wand of Cure Light Wounds (2/3 expended)
Antiplague x 3
Antivenom x 3
+1 Frost Bolts x 3 (an impulse buy)
Artisan Tools, Masterwork - for my day-job
Masterwork Backpack
My weapons and armor are 100% mundane and non-masterwork
I have a lot of mundane gear, and several changes of clothes, that my eidolon caries for me with the add of a pack saddle.

I recently acquired 3,000 or so gp, and am thinking about buying a +1 Mithral Chain Shirt. In all honesty, however, my character has only been targeted by physical attacks a few times in his career to-date

I'm basically looking for advice into what piece, or pieces of equipment/potions I need to look into getting next.

In terms of armor I'd recommend buying either a Mithril Kikko Armor (UC), no armor check penalty so you don't need to be proficent. Or the mithril breastplate and just concede that you aren't attacking anything for an extra +1 AC, and the -1 to all str/dex/attack rolls for being non proficent. The 4k extra for an extra 1 (or 2) AC, is economical before going from +2 to +3 on the more orthodox chain shirt.

For cheap magic items in PFS I really like seeker of secrets.

4k Clear Spindle Ioun Stone - (in the wayfinder) for Resonant Power of protection from possession and mental control.

4k cracked Pale Green Ioun Stone - +1 competence bonus to attacks (or saves) probably go with attacks on the Eidolon first, but its good either way. Cheaper than taking a cloak from +2 to +3.

2k Cracked Vibrant Purple Ioun Stone - a knock of version of the ring of spell stone, lets your Eidolon cast shield or whatever on himself.

500 cracked Dusty Rose Ioun Stone - +1 Initative
400 cracked Dark Blue Ioun Stone - +1 perception and Sense Motive
400 cracked Mulberry Pentacle - +1 Bluff/Diplomacy

If carring capacity is an issue:

1k pathfinder pouch (a 1:10 pound bag of holding if the 5 pound haver sack is too heavy)

And then there is the Pathfinder Society Field Guide (slightly more expensive):

2k+ - Runestones of Power are pearls of power (for twice the cost) for spontaneous casters.

11.6k - Staff of Radiance (aka staff of glitterdust at your DC, free up a spell known)

*** 8k Vanishing Wayfinder - 5 minutes of invisiblity, 1 minute increments (great for summoners)

+1 Guardian - bonus melee enhancement, - You know that stick you carry around to threaten people with but don't actually use, well it can give you a bonus to saves that might actually be useful.

I loaded up on wands for my Master Summoner. I'm not sure if they are available in PFS, but getting some healing wands and upping your UMD might come in handy in case you have no healer.

Carrying capacity is a serious issue, my normal armor ALONE is almost 50% of my carry capacity. How big an issue is light encumbrance?

90% of my gear is being carried by my Eidolon. The only things I am carrying is "we got ambushed" equipment.

I have a similar problem. My solution was learning Ant Haul. At my level, it will last the entire adventure day.

Wince. I don't know what your strength is. But are you taking into account the small size weight reduction for your armor. Small Mithril Chain Shirt, or Small Mithril Kikko Armor is 6.25 lbs (25lbs/(2+2)). The small mithril breastplate would be 7.5 lbs.

I would rethink your weapon choice as well since you aren't really using your weapon. And mace/lt crossbow are not the lightest of weapons. Unless your a much different summoner than I envision, all you carry weapons for is to threaten so other people can flank, and possibly aid other if your in a really tight pinch.

Though being at medium encumbrance isn't really that big of a deal either. Assuming you don't have a dex greater than 17, you don't lose any AC, and I don't believe Str/Dex skills are your forte anyhow. And you can compensate for reduced speed with magic.

Also as stated buy more wands. I goodly percentage of my PP go toward wands.

Infernal Healing is on your spell list and the most efficient form of healing if you can suffer the taint. If your Cheliaxan you wont even notice.
Shield is pretty decent.
Protection from evil very useful.
Expeditious Retreat, if you think you need to run.

With UMD,
Bless, its a bonus to attack if you aren't do anything else.
Divine Favor, another bonus for your eidolon if your save resources.
Longstrider is a long duration movement enhancer (for both you and your eidolon)
Polypurpose Panacea, just lots of fun. Share the pipe.
