Hahaha. Yeah, I felt bad for the Doyle character, because as he started off, he was really cool. He gave the aura of "yeah, i'm just here to be a BAMF (bad posterior mother copulator)" and ended up being a two trick pony being dragged around by a leash made of pubic hair.
And here was I supposed to believe that this half blooded thing with no skill of her own could command that much attention that beings that had been worshiped as Gods in their own right bent to her whim? PUH-LEASE! Get over yourself!
I like James a lot, actually. Even if I tease you a lot, it's because he's fun. :D

Thanks GM DSX :) the idea is good but the Foo Dog being unable to talk seems to me to be the perfect trouble. it would literally be labeled as "What is it boy? Woof!" lolz since he can't talk he can't communicate well but as I've seen with Mouse, he doesn't need to speak to get certain messages across to Dresden, also he's a kick@$$ character. i mean to me its "he's a huge fricking dog that can fight monsters. he is Dogasaurus Rex!" lolz.
Actually in Changes we find out that certain beings can understand Mouse. So, it could just be that only certain characters can understand you.
As for what character I'm going to play I think I'll play the polar bear shapeshifter. If I were to play the hunter I'd have too many conflicts with some of the party members, ie the winter fae.
So do have we decided on a refresh level yet? Also should we start a new board that's a little less cluttered for character creation?
Also about what time period in the series are we going to be?

I'm really stuck in a cop/investigator rut... anyone got any thoughts on a Ferromancer? I know one thing is that he will be very anti-establishment. Generally believing that every magical group is trying to control humans, including seemingly benevolent groups like the White Council.
Never really read Anita Blake or the Anne Rice novels. I've heard good things about The Vampire Diaries and Queen of the Damned but everything else I know of after that just hypersexualized vampires. I know they were sexualized to begin with but in my opinion she kinda made it worse.
As for your rogue ferromancer I like the idea. You could make him a general anti-establishment character. Hates what modern society is doing to the Earth is general. Just some ideas.
Also, do we have a skill level cap? Meaning can we have skills at Superb level at character creation?

GM Aria |

I dunno. How does one obtain a sentient animal? We met on a battlefield some day and she impressed you with her awesome martial skill of beating up baddies? I mean, how sentient an animal are we talking about here? does he have human desires?
Skills I am looking at are Alertness, Athletics, Deceit, Discipline, Endurance, Fists, Intimidation, Investigation, Might, Presence, Stealth and Survival.
Powers I am looking at are
Glamours -2
Inhuman Speed -2
Inhuman Strength -2
World Walker -2 (or swift transition, but world walker makes more sense for a supernatural hunter with a sentient animal companion)
and
Human Guise +0

Gelert |

I'lllll need help doing my character. :) actually Aria a Foo Dog is incredibly sentient. aside from being a dog it has near human intelligence. i like that she impressed him but I always liked the idea of being a puppy at first or at least when my master found me :)
i guess i don't really get a skill set or refresh since im a Temple Dog, but the abilities I get from it are bad@$$ anways soooo Woof Woof *jumps around happily*

Ryuko |

@Aria: Foo Dogs are human-level intelligence, though likely of a bit of a different mindset. Also, just to clarify (personal annoyance) what Gelert would be is a Temple Dog, which is the result of Foo Dog's mating with normal dogs. It was mentioned in... White Night I think? They blur together a bit for me.
Also, Aria: You would likely want to go with only some of those. How much refresh you have, as a Changeling character, represents how close to the Fey you are. Since every time you make a major decision to 'give in' to your fey nature you will gain a new power, and every power costs more refresh, and at 0 refresh you become an NPC, it only makes sense to not put yourself into too low a refresh area before we start. A player in my game resolved this by having few powers, but a list of those he was interested in getting when he got extra powers.

Ryuko |

@Gelert: I see no reason you wouldn't construct your character the exact same way a human character would. Same Aspects, Trouble, High Concept, Skills, Stunts and Powers. If that leaves you slightly weaker than the Temple Dog given in the book, just explain it away as you being not quite to full power/age. Maybe you're still growing up.

Ahhh ok sounds good Ryuko :) i think for now i'll focus on backstory and such but maybe look into creating Gelert a little bit my own way. also DM, a small question. if I said that Gelert was instead a fey hound instead of a 'temple dog' for the sake of serving a Fey master flavor and character wise, would that be ok? if not I'll stick with Temple dog because I love the idea of being Mouse ^^

GM Aria |

Name: Duana
Player: Aria
Template: Changeling (Sidhe)
Musts: High concept indicating Fae heritage
High Concept: Maeve's Little Stain
Trouble Aspect: Mother is the Word for God on the Lips of All Children
Have yet to figure out the phases, maybe someone more attuned with the lore can help me out there... Basically, i figure she was an outsider in the winter court due to her mortal blood and lack of magic, so she trained in physical stuff and went over to the Wyld Hunt where her skills were appreciated. Somewhere in the Wyld Hunt she found the Gelert puppy, and has been raising him to go hunting with her. Is what I have for now.
Skills:
Alertness - Good
Athletics - Great
Deceit - Average
Discipline - Fair
Endurance - Good
Intimidation - Fair
Investigation - Average
Might - Good
Presence - Average
Stealth - Great
Survival - Fair
Weapons - Great
Powers:
Inhuman Speed -2
World Walker -2
Human Guise +0

GM Aria |

Good question. I was thinking a mortal, but there are plenty of unseemly options like gobbos and ogres as well. Not knowing the lore, I don't know what Maeve would agree to sleep with to have a child. What I know of the fey courts is the Merry Gentry books and it seems that the sidhe will sleep with anything fae but rarely with humans unless they're desperate, and bear children just because they're so rare...
I may step out later today and pick up the fey heavier books to get a better idea than what is just printed in Our World.
I was thinking Fists for a while and being a brawler, since that is everything that is abhorrent to hoidy-toidy fae, then realized that being mortal, I'd be able to touch cold iron and probably be sent to track down baddies, and that would be a plus.

DSXMachina |

In the Dreden Series i believe the Fey are fertile & not dwindling in numbers due to that.
The sword/weapon idea is a good one although any iron/steel is not allowed in the fey lands. But it could be that Duana was taught/allowed to learn it to fulfill her role/ purpose in being born. Or just to let her protect herself from the machinations of the courts.
Fists could be regarded as slightly 'vulgar' in certain fey circles, but others like Trolls, ogres would not be bothered. (Although mechanically it would be considerably worse, not that it really matters)

Haha. I was thinking with the "Mother is the Word for God on the Lips of All Children" Trouble that Maeve has more than a little disdain for her imperfect little stain of a daughter. I mean, she's got no glamour or magics, low presence, probably terrible at deceit, she's everything that's opposite from what is printed about Maeve in the books. I figured it would be Maeve as a kind of puppet master who orchestrates whatever duels that Duana has survived thus far to test her abilities to serve as her faithful little pawn. Basically, if she survives, great, I got something that isn't entirely bound by our rules that can kill you all. If not, I can pick out something else to bork and make another, and maybe this one won't be such a disappointment.
Duana means "Dark Little One" according to a site I found on Goggle. I figured I would make her have dark hair and eyes, maybe even a healthy summer type complexion and be completely alien at the Winter Court.
As you can probably tell, I am really good at coming up with histories when I know the system. So yeah, when I pick up the fae heavy books, and get to reading them, I am pretty sure that I can come up with something good.

DSXMachina |

Raventhorn, your skills depend on what areas you want to be strong in as well as those that your pc is skilled in. Though of course with high weapons you have a attack & defence skill in one.
RE:Time period, just after Turncoat, so the wizards are getting paranoid and looking for trouble/ avoiding trouble. The vampires are looking to capitalise upon this and the fey will take as much advantage of the various factions as possible.
RE: Skills +5 Superb is available.
RE: Gelert he can be made the same process as any other character with the same skills & powers.

DSXMachina |

With reagrds to skills, the first question is does the character have any at superb? If so 0,1 or 2. Then the breakdown for this level is generally (maximising the other levels);
3 @ +1 Average
3 @ +2 Fair
3 @ +3 Good
3 @ +4 Great
0 @ +5 Superb
5 @ +1 Average
3 @ +2 Fair
2 @ +3 Good
2 @ +4 Great
1 @ +5 Superb
2 @ +1 Average
2 @ +2 Fair
2 @ +3 Good
2 @ +4 Great
2 @ +5 Superb
You should probably have Conviction, Discipline, Endurance & Persence for your defences although of course it is your PC.
Raventhorn i did have a couple of ideas for your foci, a lighte that produces a cold flame, a pocket watch, an aeeosol that is filled with dry ice, a pair of glasses as well as the usual ring, armour (clothes) & belt options.

DSXMachina |

Here are just a couple of songs that fit with our fey heavy group, This &Winters' Requiem is better but i cannot find it

DSXMachina |

Ok,
Duana - Changeling Half-Blood of Maeve
Gelert - Foo Dog
Raventhorn's - Winter Knight (a mortal)
Danny Kaye - A Summer Changeling in Winter's Court
& Jericho Korben - Ferromancer Evoker
- Aximeus - Demigod
-Madclaws' - Were-Polar Bear Shapeshifter
With the Guest Stars it can be useful for everyone to have a range of them, so that everyone has a passing acquaintance with each other.
York = Most Haunted City in England?. Just wondering whether to put up the OOC thread now that we have everyone?

Aximeus |

I havent seen any discussion about city; did one get picked; am good with any really. I take it the game thread isnt up yet. Any thought to how we meet up; do any of us know each other; that sort of thing. With Ax, am going generally the eternal warrior sort of thing. Warrior without a war, so he just bumms around city to city walking the underdog path and trouble finds him so he can really turn up anywhere.
