Question about Wounds and Vigor variant

I am not sure if I am missing something or not but with the wounds and vigor variant in Ultimate Combat it does not seem to address dying characters.

The rules state that once wounded, you gain the staggered condition and if you perform a standard or move action you lose a wound point and must succeed at a DC 10 Con check or fall unconscious.

What happens at this point? Does a character now begin dying? If so, do the mechanics for stabilization and recovery change at all?

It looks like once you fall unconscious you lose no more HP; i.e., you are automatically stable, or rather, cannot not be stable. Not only are there no rules about dying and stabilization, but in that section they present a reworked version of the Diehard feat which specifically removes the language about automatically stabilizing.

I would use the typical rules for recovery, with the assumption that the character is stable. Attempting to recover without help can still inflict 1 damage per hour per failed save.
