Spoilers for RotRL in Jade Regent?

Jade Regent

Liberty's Edge

I am going to master Jade Regent for our RP group. Thus I asked my fellow players to not read it.

However, we are currently playing the RotRL AP and another player is GMing it. He asked me to refrain from reading Jade Regent because there may be some spoilers in it about RotRL.

Thus, I am wondering which parts, if any, of the Jade Regent I can read without spoiling the RotRL AP and when I will be able to do so.

At the moment, in RotRL, we are playing Hook Mountain Massacre and have just retaken Fort Rannick from its previous unwholesome tenants.

Are there spoilers concerning parts of RotRL we have not played yet in the Jade Regent modules and in which ones ?

Or is it ok for me to read the Brinewall Legacy without fear on stumbling on RotRL spoilers ?

Pretty much the only thing you need to do is skip page 5. Really. That's it. Page 5 has the background of what happened (or was likely to happen) in RotR. There may be what some people consider spoilers in the material that follows, but it's minor. The bigger issue, depending on your perspective, has to do with continuity. Perhaps in your RotR campaign a character or two wound up dying, but that character is included in JR. But if you figure it's just a different game world, then you don't need to worry about it. Otherwise, again, just skip page 5.

I assume you're going to master it after the RotRL AP is over; I'd certainly recommend it. Sandpoint and some Sandpoint characters will be central to this AP. I'd assume that it's very central in your current campaign as well and some characters may even have romances and/or friendships going on with NPCs in Sandpoint. It would certainly be better to go through with that before you start reading Jade Regent material.

If your RotRL campaign progresses all the way to the end, you still have months of fun ahead of you. I'd certainly recommend that you wait until mid-part five of RotRL before you start reading this AP and don't read either the adventures or this forum until then.

If you DM for the same group, the first thing you'll need to think about and prepare for is how to incorporate the experience during RotRL anyway, and you currently have no idea what that may be in the end, so starting reading now will provide you no benefit. So make some notes about what you experienced in Sandpoint, ask your DM if you can have his notes about Sandpoint after the adventure is over, ask the other players to write up what they think about Sandpoint and the characters there - and then build upon that. That will be the starting point for Jade Regent, so until you have that, you won't be able to make many preparations.
