"Let's check that sarcophagus in the ringed pit then, that was the only room without a trapped floor besides the bottom, right?"

Grilnik goes up one floor, checking the statues again and then the sarcophagus.

You all make your way up the stairs to the floor above where you fought the fire creatures.. Nothing seems of interest here, but eventually you go back up one more flight of stairs.. Looking across the electrial trap is another door! A door on the opposite wall from where you have gone.

It was not there before, and now its wide open. What triggered it?

Moved you all on roll20. Door is now visible. The floor is still seemingly trapped

Vors sits down and puts on the magical footwear, feeling his toes tingle with magic. As soon as the slippers are on, the half-orc begins to walk the walls, closer to the new opening to investigate.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

Vors moves along the walls, avoiding the sparking floor. Walking over the small bridge created by Grilnik previously. Eventually makeing it to the other side and looking into the small room.

It looks similar to previous side chambers you have seem in the crypt. It has a stairwell that leads down.

Reminder on how the floor works - Feel free to do the rolling if you decide to move across.:

The metallic sheen on the floor is a thin sheet of copper that conducts periodic blasts of electricity. There’s a 25% chance each round that a blast of electricity surges through the floor. When this happens, anyone standing on the copper surface takes 3d6 points of electricity damage (Reflex DC 15 half). The blue dragon mosaics are safe to stand on

Vors relays what he sees in the new chamber to the others, then walks across the walls back to the group.
"Well, considering how 'nimble' our little Bethnay is, she should use the slippers to walk into the new room", the roguish cleric suggested.
"I might have an idea. Bethany puts on the slippers and walks over, holding a sack with a rope attached to it. Bethany walks over while we hold the other end of the rope. She takes off the slippers, put them in the sack, we pull the rope with the sack back over to us, the next person puts on the slippers and repeats the process."

"That's a really good idea, Vors." Grilnik responds while removing his backpack.
"It beats my sack bridge." he adds while pulling out the party's other 50' hemp rope.

for better or worse, I think this'll end Shield Other due to distance...

With a little of organized shoe trading it seems like the group is doing well, trading off the shoes till everyone is across.

As the shoes are pulled back across the floor, you seem then occasionally jump around as the electricity in the floor is delivered to them. No damage to them, luckly, but enough to see witnessed.

You eventually make it all the way over to the new room with the stairs leading down.

---

Spiral stairs ascend from the eastern side of this empty room. On the wall opposite the stairs, a large white slab of stone with a keyhole in it has been fitted into an archway, blocking passage entirely.

Grilnik searches around his belt pouch for keys that the party has found, and only finds the old rusty key from under the collapsed tower. Grilnik puts the key away, shrugs, and waits for Brynn to finish her inspection.

There does not seem to be any magic coming off of the slab of stone. Though on closer inspection it seems like it is an almost impossible lock connected to a stone wall feet thick.

Hardness 8 HP 900

Grilnik's key they found under the tower earlier does not seem to match this stone.

Vors pats his pockets and finds Bassy's key and tries to open the mechanism.

As the key turns in the lock the giant slap of stone rumbles.. Dust and pebbles start to shake loose as the block of stone starts to slide down into the ground.

As it moves down it shakes the floor around it, eventually ending as a flat walkway into another room.

This huge, elegant domed chamber houses a single marble sarcophagus at its western end. A mosaic of a black dragon decorates the floor. The ceiling is covered by a vibrant fresco of armored soldiers fighting a host of dragons, with a blonde woman of noble mien at the center, rallying the troops with her sword. In circular alcoves to the north and south stand life-sized statues of this woman, standing in a pose of triumph over the head of a defeated dragon.

as you slowly enter the room a voice is heard. A ghostly voice of a woman.
"And who might this be? A new generation of dragonslayers sent to gather my treasure? I sense this among your thoughts. Unknown to you, you have already proved your worth to me. You have freed my husband's spirit. Thank you for cleansing his lovely spirit. He held guilt for my death. All I ask of you, is to return to me his wedding band, then I will grant you my blessing to take up arms from this crypt."

The voice goes quiet, though you sense the feeling of excited anticipation.

Here's hoping this really is a benevolent spirit instead of another trap...

Grilnik pays attention as well as he can, weary of these tombs.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26

The voice speaks up and you start to see a ghostly image of a woman, in heavy armor appear out of the dragon form in the center of the room, "If you would place it in my hand, I would be very grateful. It will be good to see my husband's soul resting after all of these years"

Grilnik senses very positive vibes from this ghost. It seems to be speaking in a very regal and out dated accent, but nothing you can't understand. Her now visible air gives off an aura of trust and leadership.

-- Upon returning of the ring --
"Thank you adventurers. Please, take what you find here, and use it well. May you vanquish your foes with the swiftness that is required"

And with that she fades away, bringing the ring with her.

Behind where the spirit was the tomb behind her opens with the sound of 2 large stones grinding together. If you look inside you see her body, resting in all of its gear. Beautifully decorated.

--Lootz--
Her body is wearing a +3 breastplate of Luck (abilities like Banded mail of luck)
+1 keen composite longbow (+2 str)
Her famed weapon Wyrmsmite (+2 dragonbane transformative longsword)
Her hands are crossed, each olding ammo. Her right hand holds 10 +1 dragonbane arrows, and her left a single arrow of dragon slaying.

Brynn examines the longbow, gives it a test pull, and can't even draw it back. With a roll of her eyes she hands the bow to Bethany. "Take this. You'll need it against a dragon, dear. They don't often come within reach. I can give you lessons later, if you need." (I'm not strong enough to use the composite bow. I think Bethany is the only other one proficient, and I don't see a ranged weapon on your character sheet. Did you want it?)

Then Brynn scoops up the magical arrows and places them in her quiver. She leaves the armour and sword for the others.

"Well.. I can use it though not sure how it works when I get angry. The breastplate is nice too but I don't want to be greedy."

Lets be honest she would grab anything the others are not going to use. While she loves big brother if the sword was explained she would want it. Forgot it can change size forget that.

Are those things all big enough for ... big people? XD
If the armor fits, Grilnik should probably take the +1 breastplate and let Bethany have the +3
He's already got +2 natural armor from the amulet after all ^^

"Wow..." is all Grilnik can manage for a few moments.
Eventually he remembers what they've come for and replies "I think you'll probably want that armor, Beth. I can take the suit that ... doesn't have extra room up top."

As a side note, I tend to house rule the ability to modify composit strength requirements. Just costs a bit of money.. kinda like hemming clothes, just restringing the bow. Letting out the string a bit, or tightening it.

Even if she can, Brynn can't use the fancy bow until she spends a bunch of her money and performs an eight hour ritual to make it her new bonded item. She can do that if we have the time, but character wise I don't think we do. Do we? Even if we do, would everyone be alright with that? Just hanging around while Brynn performs some weirdo arcane ceremony over a bow for eight hours? Haha.

"The armor is great." She does not hesitate but immediatly starts changing her the armor. "Brynn, I can hold the bow but if you want it at some point just tell me and you can take it."

A barbarian with a bow can be effective but it really would be only when there is no other options. She will gladly hand over and would find the 'weirdo arcane ceremony' fascinating I am sure.

So do the cleric and the rogue get to fight over the cool one hand weapon?

Well, you are done with the tomb. The dragon had given you 2 weeks to go to the Monastery of Saint Kyerixus. You are to deliver books, and a crap ton of gold. It has only been 1 day. So you have some time to figure things out. You are not sure what you will find there. Up to you if you have time, but according to the timetable there is still a bit of time. Plus you all leveled and didn't have time to rest.

the non-rogue cleric is fine with his hammer, thanks :P
Vors can dual wield with the +1 flaming rapier and... whatever he wants the transformative one to be XD
Alternatively, Brynn can take one of the two weapons and Vors can take...probably the better one? xD

Grilnik shrugs before removing his own armor to put on what Bethany just removed.
It's a good thing Grilnik isn't squeamish, I bet barbarian-rage-sweat has a strong smell :P

As he changes, Grilnik has an idea. "Hey Vors, you like smaller weapons, right? Why don't you take the sword there?"

Vors chagrins, "Yeah, Grilnik. We better leave the ranged attacks to the professionals". The half-orc holds the longsword, which then turns to a scimitar, and then a rapier, then back to a longsword. "Besides, I work best up close and personal."
"Shall we head back to town, and plan our next move?"

Brynn raises an eyebrow. "Are we able to get back into town? Isn't it protected by the dragon's minions?" (Am I mistaken? I thought it was guarded or monitored or something, and it only let us out because we seemed to be doing as the dragon demanded? I'll try to find the time to backread later, but does anyone remember?

"If we're going to take a break to plan, I will use the bow, Bethany. There's a ceremony I can perform that will let me infuse it with my magic. Then I can use it in battle. It's rather long though. Taking the better part of a day."

On that note, if you're not going to take a backup ranged weapon, Bethany, did you want to hang onto the slippers? If we have to fight this dragon and it's flying, you might be able to run up trees or something to get back into melee with it. Just a thought.

Leaving the town is forbidden by the dragon's minions, but I think they weren't guarding the way we went because it's also the way to the temple we're supposed to visit...
iirc we were followed a bit by one of them :3
I give it 50/50 odds that we'll be attacked, but going in to town should turn out fine either way xD

"Sounds like a good plan. Maybe I can pray to Kurgess and see if he can help us to fight a flying opponent." Grilnik strokes his beard thoughtfully as he waits by the exit in the glamored breastplate.

Don't forget Grilnik has the Fly spell once per day :D
Also, I just realized I need to update Grilnik with the new armor, lol

The dragon's minions are guarding the greater area. You are allowed semi free movement within the Fen and to the town. They just don't want anyone leaving to a different city or anything

You can totally go back into town if you want. The Monistary is a bit closer to where you are now though.

Map of area

Make sure you are all leveled too. I feel like you leveled while down here, but didn't sleep. Not sure if there was anything left over to do.

As they head back to town Brynn keeps an eye out for danger.

The skys seem clear, but you can hear the screams echoing off the land. Wherever those strange creatures are you are not sure, but they definitally around.

Your group gets back into town without any real issue. Now to rest and recover for the next outting.

Do whatever you guys gotta do. RP, Rest, Bond to new Bow (say 100gp to restring the bow). When everyone is ready to head out again, we can head out. I assume you are going to the monistary. You are likely very early for his ultimatum. But going there sooner might be good.. hint hint.. I will get everything going again in a day or two

The next morning Brynn uses her chalk to draw a large circle on the floor of her room, tracing arcane sigils and runes along it's perimeter. She draws a few lines through it, calculated carefully to create an elaborate, abstract design in its centre. She glides around the circle, half-dancing half-walking around it as she sings a song. As she dances she spirals and spins, until finally she's standing in the centre of the circle. There's a little flash of magical light, and her chalk drawing glows a pleasant purple. Brynn holds her bows in hand – old in the left and new in the right – then continues to chant. A long time passes... Hours later she can feel her connection to the old bow weaken, then break. She drops it, letting the old bow and bond fall away. She sits down. Traces arcane sigils on the new bow with her fingers. They glow brightly for a moment, then fade. She continues for a while, and in time pulls out her tools. She removes the old string and replaces it with one better suited to her hands. As the hours wear on she tires. Her voice is hoarse, her hands sore. Finally, she places the bow in her lap and meditates.

Hours later she's awoken from her contemplation by a feeling. Magic. A connection. Stirring between her and the bow.

It was done.

Finally.

Brynn intones a few more magical words then stands. She spins and dances her way back out of the circle, opposite to how she entered it. When she reaches the beginning, where she started the ritual hours before, she grins. Another arcane word and the magic circle vanishes, leaving behind a wisp of smoke and a few speckles of what looks like glitter on the floor.

Bow cradled in her arms, Brynn falls into her bed and sleeps.

----

The next morning Brynn studies her spell book, restocks her quiver with arrows, fills her backpack with food, eats a massive breakfast, and rejoins the others. "Apologies for the delay. Are we ready?"

After making sure everyone was fully healed the next morning, Grilnik left Brynn to her bow and Vors to the innkeep and went outside to try a new spell Kurgess had blessed him with. Before attempting to get Bethany to help him shop, Grilnik became the town's first flying dwarf...

"I think we were able to get everything we needed yesterday and from the tomb. After we stop by Maffei, I say we just march into the marsh and give that dragon what-for!" Grilnik says with a bit too much enthusiasm.

If there is a way Bethany will try and peak in Brynn's window multiple times to see what she is doing. Have little experience with magic and even less aptitude she looks, smiles and walks away only to come back a drink and an hour later.

Beyond that she spends the day having a few drinks and chatting up the townsfolk that stop moving next to her for more then a minute.
