I also use the "Look at me I'm speaking in character!" when I post as Kythas in another PbP, but I am the only one in that group to use the quotation marks, so I'll likely let them go for this PbP unless DM Todd would have otherwise. =D
Same deal with the Oh my! I can't believe he's taking off his pants!! when I'm only thinking about things.
Of course the gnome will be a lot more like That's a pretty neat holy symbol she's wearing, I'd wonder if she'd miss it if I just borrowed it for awhi... Oh-oh... Thinking out loud again!!!

The crafting ammo bit is part of the Gunsmithing feat - and it specifically says a Gunsmith crafts ammunition at 10% of the base price.
The base price depends on whether or not guns are "Emerging" (base prices as per the book), "Commonplace" (25% of listed price in the book, all guns are martial) or "Everywhere" (10% of listed price in the book).
Since Dreaming Warforged went Ranger, I guess I'm a wizard. Let's pack the guns. Literally.
For RPing, I do italics for descriptions, "Quotation bold" for dialogue and am trying to ween off of personal thoughts (though when it does happen, it is an italicized boldness extravaganza)

GM_Todd |

All right. I've reviewed the rules and think I'm going to go with firearms as "Emerging" and will definitely allow you to craft bullets pre-game, so to speak, at the 10% crafting price.
I'm really excited to see how the gunslinger plays - I just hope it doesn't blow up in our faces. Both literally and figuratively!

Heya GMT, thinking about dipping into rogue next level for the trapfinding and whatnot. Will probably snag 2 levels in a row (2-3) and get evasion and both the trap abilities. Any advice or concerns?
I'm not GMT, but I would point out that a noticeable 'drawback' is the increased delay in Base Attack Bonus. Progressing into rogue as your 2nd level will mean your BAB is still +0 until level 3.

Kallista Firebloom |

I'll do it then! Not really overly concerned about the BAB at the moment, I plan to bump her dex to 14 at level 4 to support the Rogue abilities and take both Point Blank Shot (Rogue Combat Trick) and Precise Shot (3rd level feat) with her at level 3 to increase her competence with the shortbow quickly to make up for it. Maybe even Rapid Shot at level 5 so she can sing and shoot 2 arrows per round. The 6 extra rounds of bardic performance from her 1st feat should tide her over until she gets back situated in Bard again.
So her immediate future will be as follows.
1. Bard
2. Rogue
3. Rogue
4. Bard
5. Bard
Which should take us to the next chapter of the AP, assuming it advances 3-4 levels like the Kingmaker one does. (Which is the only AP I've read besides the first book of the Carrion Crown AP)
One last question, I've mainly played Wizards, Druids and Rangers, and even though I've been on the DM side of the screen most of my career, I haven't got a huge amount of experience playing Skill monkeys on the other side. So the question is, is the Arcane Trickster worth investing levels into or should she stay straight Bard? I like either idea.

Nami Chiisai |

I agree that Arcane Trickster seems lackluster for the most part mechanically. The Ledgermain is decent, but the good abilities come late, so we're talking 13th or 14th level. If you have a concept, the go for it, but if its a mechanical choice, I think its a downgrade from both bard and rogue. Either way, go with whatever's fun.

Kallista Firebloom |

Ok, nixing the Arcane Trickster then!
I figure her BAB will be back on track at level 5 (+3, same as if she stayed pure Bard) given her small size bonus of +1, she'll be ok for the level 2-4 spread where she'd be a point behind.
I'm looking mostly at the Disable Device as a class skill, the ability to disable magical traps and the Evasion to add to her survival and usefulness.
She'll continue straight Bard from level 4 on.
Thanks a bunch for the input!

I apologise for my infrequent replies. I am currently not in a good place in my life, neither physically or mentally. I'll try to post whenever necessary, but I don't have the energy right now to be the initiator for conversations or interactions.
I'm sorry to hear that :( I hope we can make a fun experience for you then, give you a little bright spot when the world goes gray. :)

Couple more questions, do we track xp or the gm or both?
I was thinking about taking Lucky Halfling (with good saves I think it would be useful) at 3rd, so with Tobar's caravan bond and the luck domain ability do you guys think it would still be worth it or is the feat better spent elsewhere? It's once per day for an ally within 30 feet.
Would anyone consider using teamwork feats? I've never got a chance to use them in a game and like the concept.
This is alot of fun so far!

GM_Todd |

All right everyone. You've already arrived at your first "step" reward for leveling up. Declare which class you are taking for your second level and choose one of the three rewards below:
1. Saving throw
2. Skill points
3. Special (Whatever class bonuses you get at level-up)
As you'll notice, I haven't included the Hit Dice/hit points/base attack bonus reward, as I think in the first level, it overpowers the players a little too much. Plus, after your first devastating combat, I don't think you need to be overpowered.
Please update your character sheet in your profile with the reward included and post here to tell us (me) which you've chosen.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Sevastien Theodorus has gained a quarter level! He has gained 6 SKILL POINTS!
+1 Rank to Profession (Cook)!
+1 Rank to Spellcraft!
+1 Rank to Knowledge (Geography)!
+1 Rank to Knowledge (History)!
+2 Ranks to Linguistics!
Theo has learned Dwarwen! He can now discuss ale and mountains with dwarves!
Theo has learned Infernal! He can now make deals with devils to sell his allies!

Nami Chiisai |

Just for future reference, what do Flurry, Fast Movement, AC Bonus, and Unarmed Damage fall under? Are they Special or come with the HD/HP/BAB option? Also does the skill points include the point you get from a favored class level? I looked on the SKR article but didn't see specifics.
Anyhow, I'll choose Skills: 5 skill points (including Favored Class)
+1 Stealth
+1 Perception
+1 Acrobatics
+1 Ride
+1 Craft: Calligraphy
Woots!

Kallista Firebloom |

Kallista will take a second level in Bard and go for the special as well.
That will be one each 0-level and 1st level known and one extra first level spell per day. (I'll take Ghost Sound for the 0-level and Silent Image for the 1st-level.)
Also added Versatile Performance and Well-Versed to Kallista's sheet.
Does she also get the +2 rounds of Bardic Performance or does that actually chime in at 2nd level? (I always assumed 2nd level itself when using this progression in irl games)

Kallista Firebloom |

I think she should get them. All class-based benefits are rewarded via the step rewards (at least in my games). It's only the "general" advancements such as feats and attribute bonuses that are only accessible via actual level ups.
Does that make sense?
Makes sense to me! I'll add +2 rounds of music to her as well then! Also can I replace Ghost Sound with Message for her cantrip? I didn't realize she can use Ghost Sound from her racial. (And twice a day too if she expends her trait power.)

Kallista Firebloom |

In the unlikely event that the Hurricane approaching my city takes out my posting capacity, (I live in Nashua NH, US.) and combat occurs, Kallista will focus on casting Sleep first to neutralize any threat quickly that can be affected by it, and resort to Inspire Courage on subsequent rounds, alternating between shooting her bow at stragglers that aren't engaged in melee and/or using Cure Light Wounds to heal injured friends.
She won't hesitate to use her (heavily padded) Diplomacy skill to diffuse any encounter she thinks can be solved without violence.
Feel free to have her bug Nami about his hat, Theo about his firearm, Nik'o about his (largely imagined) violent streak and Tobar about anything else.
