Are traits open content?

Product Discussion

I want to send a player in my campaign a copy of all the Goblins of Golarion traits (traits copied and pasted into a Word document), however I do not know if I am allowed to do that. Could someone please confirm if I am able do this.

Yes, all trait mechanics are (generally) OGC--I've never seen one that is not. Note that this applies to mechanics only, not the fluff text (especially if it has Golarion-specific details). I say generally above because it is feasible that a trait could be released that is not covered by the OGL, but I've never seen Paizo do that. When in doubt, the OGC declaration on the product should cover this in detail.

Oh, and note that the OGL/OGC is really not relevant if you are just giving a player some information and not publishing it or otherwise making it public...

Thanks erian.

There is normally a bit on the credits page that spilts stuff between product identity and OGC. Goblins has it on page one. It says all mechanics other than anything designated as Product Identity are open.

Ahhh thanks. I kept reading the OGL on page 32 and couldn't find a reference to that. Page 1 makes that much clearer :)
