I'm currently working on some base class/archetype design work, and I was wondering: Is the artwork put out by Paizo free for anyone to use in their own OGL work? Or does it require permission?
I'm wondering because there are a few character designs that I think would really fit in the pdf's I currently own, and I would love to be able to transfer them over into my own work, so long as it's legal.
Related Question: If it is legal for me to use this artwork, is there a database of some kind where I can scan through official paizo artwork?
Thanks in advance for anyone willing to help,

If your work is considered fan material, the Community Use Policy is what you're looking for. Said policy provides detailed information on what can and can't be used for non-profit endeavors.
EDIT: If, however, your work is commercial in nature, you'll want to check out the Pathfinder Compatibility License.

Thanks very much. It is considered fan content (for now. I hope to publish it for commercial use at some point). I'll check out both links.

While our rules are generally Open Gaming Content and can be used under the Open Game License, our artwork, trade dress, and setting material are generally unavailable for commercial use. You'll need to check the statements of Open Game Content (which can be used in your own OGL products) and Product Identity (which can't) in each product for specific details.

Just now coming across this post 10 years too late. I am wanting to make some homebrew/community-created cards and I was wondering if it is legal to use official Pathfinder licensed artwork, such as those found on drivethrucards.com, to create my own cards? I only intend to use the cards for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game with my friends to keep our gameplay more interesting. I have read the Community Use Policy and previewed the Community Use Package; it is legal to use the contents in the Community Use Package to create homebrew/community-created cards? Thanks!

Thanks for asking but the Community Use Policy was created so we would not have to review each person's situation. I think you have answered your own question. :)
