Resist Level Drain (Ex) A dhampir takes no penalties
from energy draining effects, though he can still be
killed if he accrues more negative levels then he has Hit
Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a dhampir takes are
removed without the need for an additional saving throw.
Is the removal of negative levels limited to temporary negative levels, or does the dhampir also recover from permenant negative levels 24 hours after acquiring them?

He recovers from ALL] negative levels automatically 24 hours after they acquire them regardless of source, save DC, and whatnot.
The only thing negative levels does to a Dhampir is outright kill them once they reach their total hit dice. Good one moment, dead the next.
I guess I should have clarified. Does the line "without the need for an additional saving throw" imply that only temporary negative levels are affected? Or am I being too pedantic?

I think you are correct that it only affects temporary negative levels.
In the "Energy Drain and Negative Levels" section, the make a distinction, where permanent negative levels are referred to as "level drain" and not "energy drain".Drejk |

You mean, like in the name of the Dhampir's racial ability "Resist Level Drain"?
I beg to disagree a little - it seems to me that energy drain is more general name of effect that causes negative levels, either temporary or permanent while level drain refers specifially to permanent negative levels.

Wouldn't this imply rather that the dhampir's ability works on permenant negative levels (i.e. level drain) and not temporary negative levels (i.e. "energy drain")?
But then again, the entry in the Core Rulebook seems to use the terms interchangeably. Which does lend to some confusion. Is anybody going to help me FAQ the opening post?

Fair enough, I had quickly read it as 'resist energy drain'. So no negative levels at all for the dhampir.

I would disagree with only a part of that. It says more than the PC's HD.
