Greetings all!
My character has recently come into the possession of a cursed Helm of Freedom, allowing immunity to Held and Paralysis effects. The unfortunate side effect is that it reduces Wisdom to 2.
Pouring through the section on magic, I had a thought that a Break Enchantment might be cast on an item to rid it of its curse, much in the same manner as a BE, Dispel Magic or Remove Curse might remove it from a character afflicted by a curse.
However, those spells do not of course allow that. After putting my head together with my DM, he thought the only thing that could remove a curse would be a Wish, but to also throw the question out to boards to see if someone knows of, o has any other game legal way to remove a curse from an item.
My own thoughts have evolved alongside the lines of making a similar item creation check to right the item, as per the repair magic item function of the item creation feats.
So, gentle sirs and ladies - what are your thoughts and experiences?

No game mechanics that I know of,but there was a discussions some time ago about a similar idea of recovering cursed items.
Some idea on how it can be done:
- "rebuilding" it. essentially re-incanting it paying the difference between the value of the item with a non cursed effect and the item with a cursed effect;
- discovering why it is malfunctioning and finding a way to remove the problem:
a) it is a actual curse by someone? i.e. the original wearer of a magic armor that inflict licantropy has served his son as food during a banquet and the gods cursed him and his gear(lake it happened to Lycaon)?
Maybe the curse can be removed atoning to the god involved or restoring to life the killed child.
b) the helmet was used by someone that failed in some important thing for lack of willpower and reflect that defect?
Maybe it is possible to reverse the effect if the wearer can prove his willpower while wearing the helm.
c) During the enchanting process something "wrong" was used in the construction, like using a brass ring instead of a gold ring to bind the pommel of a magic sword? Replace the component at the right time and right location to resolve the problem.
All the options can be nice side quests if the GM is interested.
