Arcane Strike Prerequisites

Arcane Strike's prerequisites are simply the ability to "cast arcane spells".

Arcane Talent gives the ability to "cast 0-level spells". Does that make you eligible for Arcane Strike? Cantrips appear to be treated somewhat differently from regular spells, e.g. in the Wizard's build table, but here the activity is clearly described as "casting spells".

The Rogue's Minor Magic talent is a (Sp) ability, but it's described as enabling you to "cast" your chosen "spell"... would that count as well?

I assume a Gnome's SLAs do not count?

In either case, the caster level is equal to the character level, meaning it's equivalent to Weapon Specialization at 5th level and only improves from there.

Shadow Lodge

Arcane Talent gives you an SLA, not a spell.

Similarly, Minor/Major Magic grant SLAs.

I would say that these don't count, as they aren't actual spells.

Dear me this again?

It's a spell like ability -- spell like abilities are not spells. They are also not arcane spells (since they are not spells) they qualify you for nothing.

You must have spell casting of the arcane sort to take arcane strike.

Dragon's can take arcane strike once they gain the ability to cast spells as a sorcerer (which is actual spell casting ability) -- bards, wizards, sorcerers, summoners, witches, magus all cast arcane spells.

No one else (of base classes) does.

I did find some older threads on this, but none with an official answer on Arcane Talent. I had the highest hopes there because it's explicitly worded as "casting spells". I seemed to have missed the explicit "as a spell-like ability", though. Pity.

Well I'm not trying to be rude about it, I was simply surprised, we just saw another thread about this yesterday. However you seem to have the answer well in hand now so all is well that ends well.
