Computer banks cover every wall in this room, monitoring and restricting access to the server room through the double door to the west. Clean, plush carpeting covers the floor, breaking it into lit gridlines as it gets closer to the south wall. The computer banks and walls to the south have broken into voxels and empty space, but it’s impossible to see or pass through the lines to the rooms beyond. Double doors exit to the north and west, while a single door leads through the broken simulation to the south.
Hope-01 looks a little confused at Skip, then himself. "I'm... not sure I remember." he says, a concerned look on his face.
/blø/ |
Looks at the facility and asks “I do not remember a room changing like that in the complex, are you sure it is one of her server?”
Once the team moves in the new room he tries to remember anything about it but he does not pay much attention. He asks his companions “Should we be fixing those server?”
GM Aerondor |
"I think so." says Hope-01.
"Well... a simulation of them anyway."
He offers a bow with a florish, inviting Blo to sit at the terminal. "Be my guest."
Computers check.
Skip Intro |
"I'm... not sure I remember."
"Yes, well, how very re-assuring." Skip replies with a wary look around at his crew mates.
Taking in the scene around him, he pontificates quietly to himself. "The way everything just shifts.... then comes to rest as if it's always been that way. Not unlike a dream.... am I the dreamer, or the dream?"
Snapping back into the moment from his witchwarper reverie, he offers his only bit of computer knowledge. 'Have you tried turning it off and back on again?"
Was going to try to assist but I see computers is trained-only, so I'm just having fun in the meantime.
GM Aerondor |
It looks like the terminal must have been left logged in, so Makai can get a degree of access without problems. Well.. just. Plus +10 to a skill in low tier makes most skill checks pretty easy.
He can quickly determine the main use for the computer is access regulation.
There is a set of locked doors leading out of the office to the main servers, and he can unlock them if he wishes.
Makai also notices there is a firewalled off section of the computer, that he might be able to breach...
But that would be another computers check.
At Skip's comment, Hope-01 looks up. "Let me scan my code..." he says. His face grows blank for a few seconds.
"I have an old routine... a very old one. But it will only work in the core server room itself. It should reset and protect Guidances core programming. But it will take a bit of time to run."
He looks slightly alarmed. "Time we might not have. We need to get to Guidances core servers now."
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Sorry, no training in Computers for Elisan.
Elisan watches on, intrigued, as his companions work their magic with the servers.
GM Aerondor |
Blimp connects to the terminal and starts to work their... tentacles.
Behind the firewall is a small fire that is listed as "friendly faces". There is a routine that lets you add people to it (and the terminal even has a camera attached...)
A README file notes that both the heat sensors in the exhaust tunnel and the intrusion countermeasures installed in the server room will ignore anyone whose face is in the file. "So don't just add your boyfriend this time."
K.I.N.A.A. |
K.I.N.A.A. submits to a scan.
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
"Ah, deftly done!" Elidan says in admiration of his colleagues' work. "That will save us time messing about with security protections."
Smiling broadly beneath his face scarf, Elisan also leans in to be scanned.
Skip Intro |
"I have an old routine... a very old one. But it will only work in the core server room itself. It should reset and protect Guidances core programming. But it will take a bit of time to run."
He looks slightly alarmed. "Time we might not have. We need to get to Guidances core servers now."
"We will try our best to buy you some time however we can, but we'll be watching" Skip replies, dispite being completely sure that he will be unable to understand anything that will happen once the process begins.
He turns from Hope and his face takes on his signature charismatic smile, beaming his charm into the camera. For a moment, he almost casts 'charming veneer' on himself, but his ego decides his good side and award winning smile are enough for a simple I.d. scan.
GM Aerondor |
Hope also puts his face in front of the scanner.
"Yes, thank you Skip. Keep a careful watch, as I suspect there will be... interruptions."
GM Aerondor |
Blo and Blimp, you scanning, or not?
After scanning in, the team needs to pick which door to go through.
/blø/ |
“If you could point that camera down that would help, otherwise it is only going to capture the air above my head… Thank you very much.” As soon as the camera is pointed in his direction, he mugs it up. After the shot is taken, the young skittermander asks to see the picture before asks “I want another try.”
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Not sure such things are possible pr even worthwhile in simulated spaces, Elisan moves closer to the door (whichever we decide to use), inspecting it for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
My vote is also for the Northern door.
GM Aerondor |
Sorry I didn't uncover the map. You already went into that room. The room you are now in also has two doors
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
No problem! My vote is still for up (which turns out is actually south!)
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Elisan nods. "I'll cover you," he says, readying his pistol.
GM Aerondor |
While the doors were locked, your access to the computers allows you to unlock them.
The sleek brushed steel surfaces and pristine white walls of Guidance’s server room have given way to a light grid overlaid on a black void, with shapes resembling Guidance’s forum hall and server banks. Here and there, individual voxels solidify and the essence of the original simulation peeks from within the destruction caused by the corruption. As the resolution gives way to individual pixels and lines of light, the walls, servers, and surfaces all remain solid and opaque.
The long rows of degraded server banks are eight feet high and blink with the echoes of the blue lighting. Large double doors are centered in the east wall allowing for a wide pathway between the servers to the west side of the server room.
The holographic gridlines of what should be tiered seating rises along the west side of the room surrounding a glowing circle of light built into the floor. Within the glowing circle, an image of Guidance’s feminine lashunta persona stands frozen.
"We're out of time!" cries Hope-01 as he dashes forward!

"Oh, we're running! Skip exclaims as Hope rushes forward, and quickly moves to keep pace.
Double Move
/blø/ |
Despite his heavy armor, the skittermander manages to still be mobile enough to keep up with his fast dwarf companions. As he does that he draws his gun glammered as a vacuum cleaner and a shock grenade in one of his many arms.
Two move 25 feet, drawing weapons with each move.
Elisan Jurindah Solmali |
Elisan follows Hope-01 and his companions into the large room.

As you dash in the glitches start to get worse.
Hope hurries to the frozen image of Guidance and gently lays hands on it. "Come on ol' girl... you can do this." he mutters.
