Advancing Monsters and Caster Level

Rules Questions

If you add hit dice to a creature, do you add to it's caster level for spell like abilities. Or for that mater, what if you add class levels?

I'm looking at doing some stuff with Aboleths, but at a higher CR then they normally occupy, so I'm wondering when I add hit dice how it would work with the spell like abilites.

As per the rules as written, the caster level for spell-like abilities doesn't increase when you advance the creature. The caster level for actual spells will increase if you add the appropriate class level.

However, it is a reasonable house rule to allow caster level for SLAs to increase when you advance the creature. In my campaigns, I increase caster level by +1 for each 1 CR added to the creature by HD-advancement. I don't increase caster level when adding class levels.

I didn't even see any place where it talks about that, where is that?

There isn't any place where the rules discuss the caster level for HD-advanced creatures. Since the rules discuss everything else that happens when a creature is advanced by HD, that shows the caster level doesn't increase (as the rules would otherwise have mentioned it).
