Bead of Force

A few questions about this item:

Q1. Does targeting function similar to a thunderstone? In the sense that you target a square (or perhaps moreso an intersection on the ground) with an AC 5.

Q2. Do you make a ranged attack or a ranged touch attack? I would think it's a ranged touch attack since the ground won't have a Dex bonus.

Q3. How do you decide which creature is contained? A 10-ft radius can hold up to 12 Medium creatures, but the resilient sphere only holds 1 creature, so which one is it? One idea I have is for all the creatures to roll a Reflex save, and then pick randomly among the ones who fail.

Q4. Or do you need to make a ranged (touch) attack roll against an actual single creature instead of an intersection, and then, everyone in a 10-ft radius gets hit with the damage, but then, the targeted creature is the only one that can get contained by the sphere?

The way i read it =

Ranged Touch Attack to hit target = Target is the creature trapped inside.

The AoE = Is the damage it cause as it knocks everyone out of the way (except target which is trapped and takes damage).

What if's =

1) The bead misses = DM option, does nothing (lands in the grass). Or, you could treat it as a splash weapon. First target effected by splash, is the one trapped (strikes the stone floor).

2) ""Upon Sharp impact"" (bloody fluff) = So how do you have a shape impact against someone wearing leather/padded armor :(
A): ignore the fluff. It hit your sword, or belt buckle, etc option i would choose
B): Bead did not work this time, sorry.

Now this is is something I'd really like to know. We got three of these lovelies and we're going against the BBEG tonight. We need every weapon we have because this module has been very deadly - my ninja and bloodrager both have perished already.

Huh.

Q3b. Let's say you do have 12 medium creatures in that ten foot radius. Suddenly an impenetrable sphere materializes. Where do the eleven unenclosed creatures go since they can't be in the sphere? Blown out of the radius? Knocked prone below the outer curve of the sphere? Disneyland?
