For cash, I believe you said + 100 gp. Is that added to randon starting gold?

Any sort of standard items we are expected to have? Uniforms for the militia or some sort of badges showing membership in the expedition?

2nd level starting gold is 1,000. im adding in the 100gp to reflect a characters need to purchase extra stuff because of the long distance traveling and lack of supplies found at end point. Think of oregon trail. That said, the extra 100gp should go to food items, but doesnt have to... its your call.

brinewall is north of manigmar and sandpoint. its even further north of riddleport.

weather, from old reports, is warm days and cool/cold nights.

its 30 miles south of the border for "lands of linnmor kings"


Is your world's brinewall consistent with the short description found here? If so, are our characters aware of it?

Also, according to the inner sea map folio, it is found at the point where Bunyip Bay narrows into the steam river (just above Celwynvian on the CUP map found here). Same question here... is that true for the purposes of our campaign, and do our characters know that?

Speaking of extra cash. Alfonso has a horse. Well more of a donkey (stats as pony). When he was leaving they said "Take anything in the stables, just go!" of course the only thing in the stables, as they well knew, was the donkey. So I took it.

arbot: yes. the inspiration for this campaign comes from that brief description.
and to know about what happened there, make a knowledge local check. If your character is from chelax, its a DC 10, due to it being a common bard song "the lament of brinewall".
If you are from varisia, the DC is 15 because not many people care about the dealings of chelax.

Jacek: sounds good. i probably shouldve specifically stated how much gold everyone gets.

Do you have a policy on purchasing partially charged wands?
Or self-scribed scrolls?

Also, if folks want to split the cost, there's multiple person tents in the APG. It also has a Campfire Bead for 720 gp. It can become a fire, them be stored as a bead until time to campfire again. It appears to be a permanent item.

Pallo I love the idea of combining gear. Problem is none of us know each other. Now if the DM wants to allow group purchases and retcon them as "issued" gear. Then I will happly kick in most of a pony's worth of geld. I don't think the bead is reachable though unless all 7 of us kick in. 720/7=~103gp/person. Hmmm I might be able to swing that or a tad more. What say you all?

you can do the split cost thing if you all have the money in game. but not during character creation.

wands usually come fully charged with 50 charges. id say you can purchase wands with lesser charge by taking the full price, divide it by 50 to get how much a charge is worth. Minimum charges is 5.

self scribed scrolls cost half the listed value in the book. and for char creation, your character can only scribe 4 scrolls (my call, nothing in the book).

Musings, Dear leader only but not that important.:
I have no respect for our Lord Commanander. Man has an army and he resorts to this kind of schoolboy trickery. No wonder Cheliax is collapsing if this is the best they can do.

Note Alfonso does not think for a moment he has actually been poisioned. The trick here is to make the mark think you've poisioned them and then dangle the "antidote" before them like a carrott before a mule. They are more than egar to help at that point so why go to the expense of actually poisioning them? There is no need and a penny saved etc... there is a nasty variant of this trick that Alfonso is a tad worried about. You put the poision in the antidote bottle.

After you have the info you want you give them the "antidote" and it's goodnight sweet prince. Still Albert the great over there should realize I'm more useful alive. Besides he can always kill me later, man does have an army after all."

This adventure isnt from a campaign so if your character heard some old bard story of treasure lost in the hills around brinewall, then post it. i can work it into the overall adventure here....example: arbot wishes to hunt the elusive golden snipe, found in the most remote of wildernesses, and always watched over by a golden dragon. being able to capture one alive will make arbot the most famous ranger ever....

DewnSame question The lovely Donata posted in the interest thread. How long is the journey and how long is it projected that we will be relying on stored rations?

Wildly inflated estimates will be available from the shops in Magimar as I expect the expidition is a bit of a local cause celeb. The commanders really should be providing this info. It is not in their interest to be murdered and eaten by starving colonists.
Just saying

In any case the extra 100g will buy 200 person/days of rats so we have an upper limit at least.

Goal:

Arbot's main motivation is to find some excitement and recognition. His strongest ties are likely to his country. He wants to be heralded as a key player in establishing this outpost as a JOINT operation. He wants the Chelaxian forces to take brinewall only in so far that he needs them there to establish a Varisian contingent. If the two sides turn against each other, as he suspects they will, he wants to be known as the brave soldier who led the fight against the Chelaxian oppressors or the valiant leader who perished in the fight.

To Daggard Just want to let you know the venom Alfonse is spewing is NOT directed at you. Heck it is barely directed at Daggard. Alfonse feels safe at the moment and is venting. That said I expect Daggard and Alfonse to have a bit of a rocky relationship until they've saved each others lives a few times. :7)

I am VERY glad there is such a strong lawful figure in the game. A perfect foil for Alfonse and I think the vehicle that will teach him that just law is possible. I doubt Alfonse will ever be lawful but Daggard can keep him from turning CE.

Its cool, I'm trying to Play him as a Very Logical Emotionless person, Much like the Devils they emulate. I'm not Sure how the DM would feel about any aggressive movement toward another PC, if something woudl warrent Dagaard to punish someone, So I'll not do anything Physical, perhaps just take it down in a log to trun over to a Superior or something, Or a just stern talking to, lol.

I see the Hellknights very much like a Paladin, Minus all the goodness.

Kinda Like Judge Dread.

Dread has his good side, see the stories with w-w-w-Walter, his housekeeper, and other snippits like when he marries the couple who stopped him on the street, but I pretty much agree. Alfonseo however has only had contact with the corrupt knights who serve Cheliax under contract so his view is rather biased.

I'm enjoying the Dialog, its neat to play someone who is SO engrossed in their believes. Very close minded, its much different than i am in RL.

Its cool. I give enough rope for a person to hang themselves with when it comes to in party attacks. IF the circumstances warrant it, and I allow it (in that order), then a character can go ahead and swing away.

example: alfonso has been talking to dagaard about the hellknight order for the past 2 weeks, spending 8+ hours a day talking dogma and philosophy and making dagaard believe that alfonso is attempting to convert. dagaard then hears alfonso make a snide remark about the hellknight order, something along the lines of being lower in value to a snacks stomach, dagaard could feel hugely insulted and want to show this puny upstart what being devoted to a cause feels like, so dagaard walks up and smashes his morning star down onto forearm, hoping to break alfonso's arm and teach him a big lesson. this i would allow, because of the storyline being involved.

example2: arbot sees pallo as weak, especialy out in nature. pallo, while not complaining, still sticks out like a sore thumb, and this rubs arbot the wrong way. one day, while traversing a trail on a cliff, pallo slips and falls, but catches himself on a small ledge 15 feet below the trail. arbot, in his distaste for the guy, decides to ignore pallos pleas for help and walks away. when he returns to his group he says "pallo fell. there was nothing i could do." if pallo survives, arbot has alot of explaining to do this, i would allow

example3: jacek, on a clear day, comes up to lukas and does a coup de grace while lukas sleeps, for no apparent reason, well, bad things happen to jacek this i wouldnt allow. there is no reason for jacek to kill lukas. Not only would jacek character be killed, the person playing jacek wouldnt be allowed back in the group.

Makes sense, I don't see Dagaard physically acting toward anyone hes really not "in charge" of anyone becuase hes just a recruit. I don't evenyone thinking i'm going to betray the party at every turn, lol.

I can see him making great use of the imtidate skill.
