R2R: Wayfinders?

Serpent's Skull

Sovereign Court

Hello everyone!

My party decided to associate themselves with the Pathfinder Society. Now, they all got wayfinders. Good! For someone who recently began playing Pathfinder though, it's not good: you can't find them anywhere in the core books.

Now, I found a definition on PathfinderWiki (reliable source? Help me out here!) that says that it's basically a compass that can emit light. Great! No more torches!

But wait! It also says that there's a place to put a Ioun stone, but that every wayfinder reacts diffrerently depending on the Ioun stone. Where can I find this rule? Cause our rogue damn well likes the fact that the Ioun stone he stole the party can be hidden in there!

The rules for Wayfinders and Ioun are in Paizo Pathfinder Chronicles: Seekers of Secrets—A Guide to the Pathfinder Society.

Anyway to have the rules without buying an extra book?

Fred

I looked through the book once, if I recall most of the bonuses were things like +5 to a particular skill, +2 to ability, or +1 caster level. You could just make up what happens when you use an ioun stone.

For the wayfinder itself, it's a compass (+2 survival check on being lost), and can emit the light spell. I don't think it did anything else on it's own.

Wayfinder (Standa rd)
Aura faint evocation; CL 5th
Slot none; Price 500 gp; Weight 1 lb.
Description
A small magical device patterned off ancient relics of
the Azlanti, a wayfinder is typically made from silver and
bears gold accents. With a command word, you can use
a wayfinder to shine (as the light spell). The wayfinder also
acts as a nonmagical (magnetic) compass, granting you a +2
circumstance bonus on Survival checks to avoid becoming
lost. All wayfinders include a small indentation designed to
hold a single ioun stone. An ioun stone slotted in this manner
grants you its normal benefits (as if it were orbiting your
head), but frequently reveals entirely new powers due to the
magic of the wayfinder itself (see page 51).
Construction
Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, light; Cost 250 gp

there you go the exact everything to a wayfinder without reading through the seeker of secrets... great book get it before it's gone btw

The wayfinder also has an entry in the Inner Sea World Guide. The text is exactly the same as above, except for the last sentence which puts the new possible effects up for GM discretion, and reduces their frequency from "frequently" to "some". Ioun stones are listed in the Core Rulebook, p 520-1

Thanks guys!

@lylerachir You think I could push my luck and ask you to quote what's on page 51?

That is a good chunk of the book *Not just one page*, and I personally think a disservice to Paizo.

It goes from Pgs 51-55 on the rules for Wayfinders and Ioun Stones.

You should think about buying the book, it is $14 for the PDF, and a good book.
