I'm very much afraid that I can no longer keep up with this game..it moves too fast for someone who can only generally find the time to make one post a day.If I miss a day I find myself 50 to 60 posts behind..so regretably I think Andrea will have to retire from this adventuring life...again.

Andrea /Wellard
I doubt this speed will last for long. I admit it suddenly went back to speeds we had seen at the beginning. Part of it is the current plot which involves a lot of questioning / just chatting.
With a fight I know I can wait as I will get an action eventually. With the current open format I sometimes don't know if I should wait or if people read and wait for me as others have already acted for the group.
So the speed will likely fall back a lot again if this helps. And you know - you are always welcome back.

Things have been going pretty quick for me too. I'm not dropping out, but definatly not of the mind that I'm tapping my foot waiting for the GM to post ;) I logged on earlier and was 36 or so posts behind...was horrified until I saw it was a lot of short Q&A type.
Wellard...If you do go, I'd like to say it's been a pleasure gaming with you, though I hope you stick around. I think, like Thod said, things lately have been more of a fluke than this-is-the-way-things-are-likely-to-continue.

Aldous Preklikin |

I agree, I think it has more to do with the nature of 'investigation', rather than the game as a whole suddenly going into overdrive; I dare say it will slow down dramatically once we hit a combat ;-)
My question regarding XP still stands :-P

Galadan Teresthin |

Well, you have several voices here.
Aldous, the voice of reason with a little compassion.
Wren, the voice of a special person.
Nym, the voice of a critical thinker with critical undertones.
Galadan, the voice of reason without compassion
Kevin, the voice of the socialite.
Sounds like we need a little more compassion.

Aldous Preklikin |

Just so you don't think everyone viewed it negatively, I was happy to wake-up in the morning and find 20-odd posts waiting for me in the IC thread :-)
Usually, it is a pleasant read, which does not really require my input (or more input than can be put into one post).

And I'm a much more versatile Spell caster now I have spontaneous healing at my command.I don't have to load up on heal spells at the start off the day.

@Thod: I did not mean to be a pain; I just wondered, because usually, with APs, by the second book you are meant to be 4th level...
No problem. You had been half a level
Behind despite more or less doing everything. But I left you that far behind as you seemed to easily defeat all opponents. After all you are a group of 6.I would have levelled you up immediately if I felt its needed.

Some good news - just got offered a new job.
Most of you might be aware that I was working on my own company - Thod's Bazaar. This is now working fine. Container arrived 2 weeks ago and the first big per-order wave has hit customers.
But I should also start back in science in the next ten days.
Now I have to unravel the Manticore fight ...

Galadan Teresthin |

Ah, most of us leveled to 4th level when you told us to on Feb 12.

Wren the FeatherMage |

Yeah...I'll be re-leveling up Wren today.
Poor old bird.

How to play out the evidence?
I haven't seen any postings and I think there is some miscommunication here.
The intention of the AP s that either players gather the evidence and present it - or you just hand it over to barrister Kapple. What does this mean?
In the first case you piece together what you think is right or wrong. As GM I'm not helping you here.
Alternativly I can summarise it. You already have all the clues. You have the skills. And Wren already did an intelligence check. But if I summarise it for you ooc then I don't see much need you repeating it in character.
I assumed you wanted to present the evidence yourself in character. But the lack of posts seems to tell differently.
So I'm happy if everyone is doing:
A) an intelligence check
B) a diplomacy check
You can take10 if you like. I will then weave the results into the presentation.
Let me know how best to play it.

Galadan Teresthin |

Yes, I know we're presenting the evidence for the defense. I was hoping that Aldous would go first, as he is the most diplomatic. I do not think the Defense Attorney would take it kindly if I got up on the witness stand and said that I defended the truth, rather than the Beast himself. But I might make a good second witness.

Aldous Preklikin |

Aldous does have a non-combat Diplomacy focus, but I do not want to 'hog' the diplomacy side of things, so I decided to give other people a chance - if something goes heinously wrong, I will step in :-) Otherwise, Aldous will maintain a low profile ;-)

Boo.
Do something, Aldous.
Make us proud. Let Wren sit and enjoy things.

Sorry first for slow posting - I'm now back in a normal job - or should I say jobs. CompChem part time, my business and possibly some consulting on the horizon.
But back to the game. You need to start thinking more like a judge.
Just a few examples:
Appealing to the good heart of a judge as 'Stiches is our friend'. Assume a -20 to -30 on the DC for this one.
Giving some proper evidence - Stiches doesn't bleed +5 on the DC
Presenting something like the mask - +10 to the DC
Presenting the maker of the mask +20 to the DC
The irony right now - Aldous would get a away with the diplomacy skills of Wren with what he is writing while Wren would struggle to score a point with the diplomacy skills of Aldous.
The public just wants a spectacle and the Beast burned. Appealing to them that they got it wrong will just rile them up.
The judges have different backgrounds and motivations. Burning the beast is the easiest solution. They can ignore any idel chat - but they are bound to listen to evidence and facts. Give them enough and they won't be able to ignore it. This is the only way to keep the Beast from burning.
But lets move on. Maybe someone just presents the mask (and doesn't only chat about it) or any other physical evidence you collected and then you go hunting for the maker of the mask - with luck you can present him/her/them/it tomorrow.

Will be out of commission for about a week due to RL work and life issues. Apologies to everyone. Feel free to NPC me as necessary.
Galadan
Please drop back in when RL sorted out itself. I have lately more difficulties getting all my online activity up at scratch and know sometimes you need a break / sometimes it doesn't work. For the current encounter I will NPC-GM you to allow the story to move on.

It is interesting what one dice roll can do.
When I saw Wren's action and the Grease spell I thought - one more fight over before it even has started. Hardly a chance the beast will make the saving throw.
One good roll later and Kevin is close to going down. Having looked at Nym I realize he has hardly anything to contribute as a low Strength Magus against such a creature.
I need to look at Galadan in more detail but didn't want to block the other front spot.
