I've created a new LOOT page: LOOT LINK!

If you want access to edit, just email me at my address in my info. Happy to share.

Male Elf (Current Health 25 / 28) Inquisitor of Pharasma 4 / Urban Ranger (Falconer) 1

Thod:

I've been looking at the Book of Exalted Deeds, and have come across some neat ideas for Galadan. I think I'd like to eventually become an Anointed Knight of Pharasma if you allow such a thing. Both the prestige class and the feat Ancestral Relic require good alignment, but I was wondering if you would instead just allow me to very stringently follow Pharasma's will, attending church regularly, or otherwise serving her and her priesthood instead of having a good alignment. If you allow this, I think I would like to take Ancestral Relic at 3rd level, and hopefully Father Grimburrow would have a masterwork weapon I could use for this feat. I don't intend to overuse Book of Exalted Deeds, as I have heard it is somewhat broken, but just some basic ideas.

Grand Lodge

Galadan:

I don't have the book and need some more information. As far as it fits into the character and isn't for power-munchkin I can't see a problem.
Do you have it as PDF? Could you copy the parts you want to take and send them to me. What you tell me and the reasons sound okay but as I'm setting a precedent here I rather want to ensure I know what I'm saying okay to. Otherwise I'm on a slippery slope - when do I say no ...

Male Elf (Current Health 25 / 28) Inquisitor of Pharasma 4 / Urban Ranger (Falconer) 1

Thod:

I'll email you the relative text associated with the feat and prestige class. Consider carefully both of them. Like I mentioned before there are a few broken items in Book of Exalted Deeds, so you will need to examine both of the things I'm suggesting.

I prefer talking money and character accounting on the OOC thread so I post here.

The Loot page, above, is not up to date. I hope that Aldous will post his page here and we can, collectively, get our money situation sorted.

From my records:

Start of campaign with 17 gp leftover.
Shopping on first Oathday: 3cp+2sp+9.5gp about = -10gp
Jewelry -3gp (crafting costs) + 10gp (sale) = +7 gp
New total: 14 gp

Gold spent from book delivery: 40gp (10% off, but 10% interest)
+ another 75gp spent on scroll: Comp Languages, Prot Evil *2

-130gp scribing False Life & Dispel Magic to her spellbook

So: 14 - 40 - 75 - 130 = -231 gp.

Gold from the recent Harrowstone: This Link +340.2 sp

+500 from Wren's lecture on the Undead

=609.2 gp - Wren's new gold total, I think
-160 gp : Copy Summon Monster IV to her spellbook (previous check made)

=449.2 gp (and I should have some money still coming when we complete our delivery mission)

Happy to contribute -228 gp for the Wand of CMW if we agree on that.

As for items, I'll wait to see what Aldous has set up before delving into that.

The old treasure sheet.

Male 'Human' Summoner 2

I am still using the page that is linked from Aldous' page.

For convenience sake, here it is.

Male Elf (Current Health 25 / 28) Inquisitor of Pharasma 4 / Urban Ranger (Falconer) 1

I may take the bolts if no one's claimed them. (Am I the only one that uses a crossbow?) Also, as for the mw scythe. I thought I buried that in the graveyard at the prison. (It was possessed). I guess someone might have gone back, dug it up, and sold it... =)

Male 'Human' Summoner 2

Well, I do not see anyone screaming 'NO!', so I will mark them as going to Galadan (12 x Silver Bolt, 9 x +1 Bolt, 5 x Ghost Touch Bolt, 2 x +1 Undead Bane Bolt).

Thod:

A couple things came to my attention recently. First off, heirloom weapon has changed. I'm not going to say it didn't need to be erattad, though I have to be honest and say it's not exactly an appealing choice in it's now form, especially for Nym. If you're alright with the idea, I'd like to replace it with forlorn elf instead.

Second is the kensai archetype for the magus. I think the no armor, single weapon focus fits the duelist/fencer style I'm trying to present for Nym.

Grand Lodge

Nym:

Yes - I noticed the changes. I think this was did use it not as fluff and interesting option - as Nym did - but for power gaming. In this respect - if you like - keep the trait as before the errata. I think Nym used it the way it was supposed to be and I like the sword cane.

Also no issues with the new Magus class.

This is not PFS play - so I can make such decisions as GM.

Question...I'm noticing this says Carrion Crown part 1. Is the plan only to do Harrowstone then?

Fraust wrote:

This was my very first PBP when I started it. I couldn't tell if we ever manage to finish it and if players would be interested to carry on. I also assumed I would start a part 2 with the next part of the AP.

So my plan is to carry on. Please let me know in case a player wants to stop after part 1 - so we can look for a replacement.

Also we needed a big curse breaker havin Andrea playing with us ;)

We bought the wand of CMW, right?

Who has it? Doesn't need to be Andrea.

Just confirming my current gold level as I prep for lvl 3...assuming we survive here.

Male 'Human' Summoner 2

We bought the partially charged wand; as far as I am aware, Andrea is carrying it.

Was under the impression we bought it too...especially as it was just used in game.

Very much interested in continuing on Thod. I know I don't post very often and all, but this has been an immense amount of fun.

Male Elf (Current Health 25 / 28) Inquisitor of Pharasma 4 / Urban Ranger (Falconer) 1

I noticed we also found a wand of CLW with 15 charges back a while ago.
But the wand we purchased is a higher cure.

Male 'Human' Summoner 2

*nods* The wand Andrea used recently was the partially charged WoCLW; we *also* have a partially charged WoCMW, which we have yet to use.

I have updated the Campaign description and added the Trust level and XP. This should include everything up to The Lopper.

Off topic question for Thod & GM Wellard:

Hypothetical:

If there was a no re-skinning rule in PFS (or if there is now), would Wren the Feathermage be allowed in PFS play?

Just wondering where skinning stops and where flavor and customization begins.

I think Wren does step over the re-skinning threshold - at least for some game masters. You are in a difficult area in this respect.

I wouldn't have problems with it personally but would expect a minority of GMs will have issues.

I would be glad to continue on with my fellow adventurers...and Thod also.

Thod, in UC there is the feat Opening Volley, and I was wondering your take on it. Specifically where it says ranged attack. Would you consider a ranged touch attack (as part of a spell) to quallify? Or would it have to be a non-touch. Being that it says "ranged attack" as opposed to "ranged attack roll" I'm inclined to think touch attacks would work, though I'm not the GM here.

Also, what are your thoughts on firearms? Would they be something available in this campaign? I'm kinda looking at options for quite a bit down the road, so please don't think I'm going to be trying to pick up a gun in Ravengro if you say they are/will be available.

Yes - I would say a ranged touch attack qualifies.

About guns - I don't want to restrict anyone but I admit I have problems to envision your character with a gun. Seems not fitting - but maybe I miss something.

Was more of an off-handed thought than anything. Plus, Nym has strayed a little from where I originally saw him, so yeah, it makes less sense now than it would have from the get go. Either way, thanks for the ruling on Opening Volley.

Thod:
Two questions: Ultimate Magic was not out when I originally created Aldous. Would it be okay with you if I took one of the archetypes from that (say, Synthesist)? Secondly, normally, this would not occur to me, but in two other gamers I have seen people ask whether they could take the feat Augment Summoning without needing to take spell focus (Conjuration) as a prerequisite; what are your thoughts on doing so?

Male 'Human' Summoner 2

Aldous can fix the MW Heavy Crossbow with Mending. Does anyone wish to claim it, or any of the other items (I know Galadan has already claimed the +1 heavy mace), or should we just convert them to gold?

For ease of reference, we have found:

MW Heavy Crossbow
MW Longsword
Stone of Alarm
+1 Heavy Mace - claimed by Galadan
+1 Hand Axe (The Lopper's weapon)

How re we doing HP again?

Female Human (Mixed race) Hedge Witch 5 (favoured class)

Evil Eye (Su): The witch can cause doubt to creep into the mind of a foe within 30 feet that she can see. The target takes a –2 penalty on one of the following (witch's choice): AC, ability checks, attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. This hex lasts for a number of rounds equal to 3 + the witch's Intelligence modifier. A Will save reduces this to just 1 round. This is a mind-affecting effect. At 8th level the penalty increases to –4.

Male Elf (Current Health 25 / 28) Inquisitor of Pharasma 4 / Urban Ranger (Falconer) 1

Just thought I would let you all know that I am having a blast and really really liking this character. One of my favorites. Well, my celestial sorceress/witch is up there, but that was my first ever Pathfinder character, made with beta rules even (eventually had to transfer her over). And my stoic halfling court bard is pretty fun to play also... but other than that... oh then there's my dhampir sanguine sorceress... umm. Okay, I like them all. :P But this one seems excellent.

Sorry - I took it slowly after you finished the Lopper. There have been a few questions.

HP - please don't roll - use the PFS rules for HP.

New books - if PFS allows it, then you don't need to ask. This should give you a basic about what you can expect to be allowed and don't feel I curtail your imagination.

3PP or other non-PFS allowed builds - like limited rebuilding because a new archetype has come out.

I try to be flexible. If it is 3PP then please provide me with a copy of the feat, item, etc. So I can read it. I should say yes if I feel it fits in the concept and isn't overpowered.

Ask yourself first - is it cheesy? Does it steal the limelight from the rest of the group? Is the connection to your character rather very weak but it offers a mechanical bonus. I hate to say no because someone tries to misuse my goodwill.

Just to be clear - nobody has tried yet and I'm very happy how all the characters develop. I just want to put it out here as disclaimer.

In case you are unsure - you can always email me.

sorry for the delay. I wanted to look it up first. Yes - both should be fine. Having lost Hastur I could see it very fitting if you get through a development that explains that you become a synthesist.

Just a note about the +1 Hand Axe. It actually is a +1 Ghost Touch Hand Axe - so Even better As just a +1 Hand Axe. There is only one small down side - there is a minor curse on the weapon.

Just ask Kevin - oh - he doesn't know yet? Time to send some sweet dreams once again.

Female Human (Mixed race) Hedge Witch 5 (favoured class)

oh goody that's a base 4 hp not 3 then 20 HP at 3rd lvl is pretty good for a caster... Extra Hex might be the only feat Andrea ever takes..it really ups her armoury in that direction..with up to 6 additional hexes over the course of the AP though its a pity the AP ends at 15th -16th level because it would be great to bring people back from the dead with just a word and a snap of her fingers.

Feats
Extra Arcana (familiar) Thod, do you want me to just poof the familiar into being/describe it in a post once we get into town/or you describe where it comes from? I'm thinking a fox or raven.

Class Abilities
Magus Arcana - Pool Strike
The magus can expend 1 point from his arcane pool as a standard action to charge his free hand with energy. He can make a melee touch attack with that hand as a free action as part of activating this ability. If the touch attack hits, it releases the charge and deals 2d6 points of energy damage (acid, cold, electricity, or fire, chosen when he spends the arcane pool point to activate this ability). He can use this ability with the spellstrike class feature. If he misses with this attack, he can hold the charge for up to 1 minute before it dissipates. At 6th level, and every three levels thereafter, the amount of damage dealt by this attack increases by 1d6.

New Spells (2)
Vanish, and Warding Weapon

I think that's everything...

Hey All--

Sometimes things happen in parallel, yeah know?

In another PbP game, a player wonders if the recipient of the witch's hex ward has any noticeable or discernible effect on the recipient. Do they know they are warded and, sort of, what the effect is.

Sadly, I think not...but if Wren did know she might ask Andrea for that protection going up against the Splatterman. In previous fights against the 5, the owner of the opposed item (in this case, the spellbook) seemed to receive the brunt of the attacks.

Just wanted to solicit opinion.

Of course, Andrea herself is a smart one and might come to the same conclusion on her own, but that I don't think Wren can ask for it as I'm not sure the effect is measurable.

Thoughts?

Grand Lodge

Wren's post reminds me of a broader issue

Please let me know if you feel negative about how I target characters.

Targeting is a complex issue. Sometimes I roll dice. But sometimes it seems no to make sense story wise. In this cases I take into account positions, how well someone can withstand an attack, motivations of monsters and trying to involve everyone once in a while.

Possibly the most contentious could be motivations. You add some harmless fluff to your description and I take it up because for some reasons the enemy hates it - and a bulls eye suddenly is on your character.

Long term it should even out - but short term you might be on the receiving end.

Just let me know here or drop me a line If you feel strongly about it.

Jens, in the half dozen times I've sat a table with you as DM I have never felt unfairly targeted so I'm good with whatever you go with.

Wren hasn't felt targeted either...it's all been good so far. Sometimes players are in the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time.

All good.

Wren is, however, dying to get rid of this spellbook [and I mean that in the way like she really wants it gone, not as a personal plea to ensure her death. :) ].

I am fine with your methods. I did think I should have been the main target of the Lopper since I had his axe, but after seeing the damage he was dishing out, I am glad he had eyes for others.

I think you've ran things plenty fair. In my opinion intelligent foes should act intelligently, and animals would generally attack the closest hostile, or whomever has done the most recent/most damage.
