Further down the passage, it ends at a door that is hanging open. Beyond the door is a 30-foot-diameter cave on the side of the cliff overlooking the Varisian Bay. The cave mouth slopes down to a narrow
beach; you note the crude collection of goblin beds and remnants of their meals strewn about the cave.

A J s Dad |

Looking out of the cave mouth, you note that it now seems to have started raining quite heavily. On the beach you can see a couple of small boats that would seem to belong to local fishermen, judging by the nets they contain. You can also make out a steep pathway climbing up the side of the cliff which you would presume leads back up to Sandpoint.

"Maybe we'd best check out the boats, make sure there's no goblins hiding or sleeping in them. Then take a look from the beach, to be sure there's no-one on the cliff path?"
"After that, we can check out that side tunnel."
If we've been going north/northeast, are we still under the town, or have we travelled further up the coast?

You are still under the town, although a good few hundred yards north, further up the beach.

A J s Dad |

Galstok searchs for where the tracks continued coming out of the tunnel.
Perception: 1d20 + 5
he tracks appear to be relatively easy to spot, having been made by someone running at a fair pace. They head down onto the beach towards the waters edge. There is evidence there of a boat being pushed out to sea as well. You can see no vessels out on the water though from your vantage point however.

Drexel Morrow |

They appear to have left, there is nothing more we can do here. We should return to town and alert the mayor about what has transpired. Perhaps make sure that the entire glass factory is empty of the little beasts.

A J s Dad |

You move on down the passage, traveling gradualy downwards along a gentle but meandering slope. After a few minutes, the tunnel opens into what seems to be a natural cave. Water drips from the ceiling, and roots dangle down in numerous places. A side passage exits the cave on the right hand side and a passage continues on on the opposite wall. Suddenly, a horribly deformed humanoid, hairless and emaciated, lurches out of the shadows. Its unnaturally long arms end in three-fi ngered talons, and its legs bend like those of a dog. A writhing network of bulging veins form dark blue patterns across its pallid skin. But worst of all is its face—its nose is little more than a pair of slits, and its eyes are bulging and red. The lower jaw splits in half at the chin into two wretched arms that end in tiny three-
fingered hands to either side an open gullet with a lolling tongue.
Initiative rolls please

Ensu |

Ensu will take his readied shot as he looks at the thing in front of him with disgust.

Am I the only one with a light source or does someone else have a torch as well?
Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
If there is another light source.
With a yell, Galstok throws his torch at the creature, then runs up to meet it bearing his earthbreaker.

I think Ensu had light prepared, earlier.

Like THIS?

Does it leap out at the first in line, or wait till they've passed, to grab the rear? I'm not sure how close I am to it, whether I'll get a shot off effectively. Luckily, I have Point-Blank and Precise Shot, so it's not all bad.
Either way;
Initiative 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack roll 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 1 = 21, no penalty for melee, but -4 if I can't avoid friendlies providing cover.
Confirmation chance 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 = 23
Damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Damage if confirmed 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) + 3 = 13

Yup! Looks exactly like that! (I'll update combat tomorrow. Its a bit late here now. Sleep is calling!)

Initiative 1d20+3
I pull out my short sword and say to Galstok, "Come let us end this creatures misery, try and flank it with me."

Drexel, Ensu & Tregar

Drexel Morrow |

I move forward around the creature and Galstok flanking it with Galstok if able. Unless that would provoke an attack of opportunity then I will just attack the creature and then take 5ft steps each round until in a flanking position
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22 +2 if flanking
Damage, short sword 1d6 ⇒ 4

A J s Dad |

Mr Staypuft(!) rolls a 3 for initiative.
Galstok rushes forward, flinging his buring torch at the creature. The firey brand smashes into the creatures chest, sparks and embers flying. 6 dmg
Standing to one side, Ensu releases his missile and the arrow flies straight at the creatures head, hitting an eye. The creature roars its anger and pain. 6 dmg
Moving to the side of the creature as it bellows in agony, Drexel slashed with his sword, cleanly decapitating the horror. 7 dmg
Blood fountains from its neck as its body drops to the floor. Its decapitad head rolls across the ground, ending its journey at Tregars feet.

Galstok |

Wow, that went a lot faster then I was expecting.
Belatedly Galstok realizes the creature is no longer in one piece. Stopping midswing he looks up at Drexel with an almost feral grin, "Too quick! Let's find some more!"
With that Galstok turns back away looking for signs of any other creatures.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
And can't find the one they just killed. :)

Ensu |

2 crits and a low initiative tends to do that.
"Well, that was amusing. Good to know it goes down quick. I just hope there isn't anything else about to hear the roar." Ensu looks around as he reloads his crossbow.
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19

Drexel Morrow |

Well we are first level, and it had twice the HP that I do! And I completely forgot to add my sneak attack damage for flanking, Haha
I glance at Galstock warily, "Glad you are on my side."
I will search the cavern quickly, with sword still drawn, for anything to give an idea of where the creature came from and to see if there is any more unpleasantness lurking about.
perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

I'm off to my weekly game in a few minutes, and tomorrow I'm driving down to Paizocon UK for the weekend. I may be able to check in, but I can't make any promises. My full statblock is in the profile, in case you need to roll for anything. I'll save my judgment whoopass for anything that proves tough to kill, or is obviously the boss.

A J s Dad |

No problem Tregar. Have a great time. And well done everyone. By the way, as of Sunday 24th July, I'll be on vacation in Florida for two weeks and its probable that I wont have access to a lap top so the game will be on pause till I return. Just a heads up!
There is an exit passage at the far side of the cave and a smaller side passage is over on the right hand side of the chamber.
150 XP each

A J s Dad |

The rough hewn passage opens after 30 feet into a stone lined chamber. The original purpose of this chamber is unclear, but large mounds of rubble lie strewn on its floor. The wall to the North (your left)has a white stone door in its centre. There is no sign of any more of the creature from the previous chamber.

A J s Dad |

The door appears to be made of white marble. Upon closer examination you can see that tiny red veins run through the marble. Also, an inscription of some sort is etched into the door, but age has made it all but illegible. What can be dicerned though is that it must have been written in some foreign tongue. A golden ring handle give the impression that the door opens inward into the room.

Drexel Morrow |

"There doesn't appear to be a lock."
check for traps, perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
If I do not think there are any traps I will pull open the door if I think there are traps I will attempt to disarm them and then open the door.
Disable device 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Oh, snap. I really hope there were not any traps!

A J s Dad |

There appear to be no traps or devices on the door. Grasping the handle, Drexel pulls the door, which swings stiffly open to reveal a dark corridor of worked stone beyond, quite unlike any other passage that you have seen down here. A thin layer of dust is disturbed as a soft breeze wafts past you into the tunnel. The smell of agees past assaults your nostrils.

Galstok |

Looking a little disappointed, "I'd want to, but the goblins be more important, I think. Maybe later?"
Galstok heads back towards the previous room. Checking to see if his torch is still servicable he will pick it up and relight if need be.
While waiting for rest of party, Galstok will take a glance down the passage at the far side of cavern.
