And any word on any still-living goblins?

There are no goblins left alive. The dead man appears to be from the same region of Golarion as Ameiko.

"Well, we seem to have found Ameiko's father. Her brother must really not have liked him much." Ensu says as he cringes a bit at the sight.

Liberty's Edge

"Let's hope Ameiko is in better shape."

To GM:
Are you ruling that NPCs and monsters die at 0hp? That's your call to make, just that I'll need to know for later. If we try to bring Tsuto in alive for questioning and/or trial, we'll have to be sure to deal some non-lethal damage among the lethal, to avoid accidentally killing him.

Tregar Quill wrote:

** spoiler omitted **

Basically my rule is that for something like a goblin, it's gonna die at 0hp. NPCs and monsters that have information to give, I will let go to below 0hp. It just makes the game on here flow a little quicker.

See the doors unlocked, he opens them up and takes a look inside. "These doors aren't locked. Maybe from this way?"

Perception: 1d20 + 5

Behind yhe doors you see a wheelbarrow sits against a wall, and

shelves on the walls contain powders, probably for using to create
different colors of glass. A safe on the floor hangs open. There are four doors in the room; two set along the right hand wall,(both of these are closed), a double door that you assume leads outside and a fourth door that stands slightly ajar. There is no light coming from beyond this door, but a cool breeze does emenate from it.

After making it down from the skylight I edge my way over to the safe that is hanging open and look inside

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

"I think they may have come from this way! He yells back into the other room.

If needed Galstok will pull out a torch and light it so he can see.

Galstok will approach and take a look through the open doorway.

Liberty's Edge

The goblins were burning the bodies with glass and tools; is the glass encasing the old man done well, or does it look like their slapdash work?

Male Human Wizard (Egorian Academy Infernal Binder) 1

Harlynn will cast mage armor on himself in order to be better prepared for whatever might come.

Male Human Bard 1

Kendrick will start moving around while continuing to yell out Amiekos name. But he'll also start looking for any kind of clue to where she may be.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

"I'm not sure that advertising our presence is really the best way to help Ameiko, Kendrick. We don't know where she is, who is with her, or how desperate anyone with her might be. We should ascertain at least some of those facts before we go alerting any potential foes that their plans may be in danger."

Male Human Bard 1

"Hmmm, you do have a point at that, Ensu." Kendrick then quiets down, but continues to look for anything that may point to Ameikos current whereabouts.

Liberty's Edge

Tregar gets up from examining the grisly exhibit, and looks for a blanket to cover it.

"No sense Miss Ameiko having to see that. Assuming we find her, of course."

Liberty's Edge

Having hidden the glazed corpse from view (or if no cover can be found, having turned it to face the wall), he walks over to the back room with the safe, where Galstok stands.

"Looks like robbery was the motive. Or at least, that's what we're supposed to think. Doesn't explain the goblins being here, except to take the blame, but they haven't been in this room."

He points to the row of jars, full of pretty colours, sitting intact on the shelf.

Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

The breeze ruffles the hairs on his knuckles, and he turns to the half-open door.

"A breeze means a through-draught, and I didn't spot no open windows on that side. Maybe from below? These cliffs could be riddled with sea-caves, like an old cheese. Could explain how they got in, or where the rest've gone."

Drexel Morrow wrote:

The safe is totaly empty

You see a darkened passage that turns sharply to the left after a few yards and then descends down a set of stone steps.

You presume that whoever did this knew what they were doing.

I look about for anything noticeable that anyone else may have missed

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

Galstok will slowly advance down the stairs listening and watching for any signs of movement or ambush.

He will have the torch in one hand ready to drop it to two-hand his hammer.

Male Human Wizard (Egorian Academy Infernal Binder) 1

I will keep casting detect magic as the group searches.

male gnome cloistered cleric 3 [ HP: 19/23 | AC: 14 T: 11 FF: 14 | F: +5 R: +1 W: +6 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | Effects: ]

Ensu will stay close to the rear of the group, crossbow loaded and ready.

Liberty's Edge

"Should we tell someone where we're going? Just in case we bite off more than we can chew?"

Male Human Wizard (Egorian Academy Infernal Binder) 1

Cornelius will deliver any message you wish

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

"Mistress Bethana knows we are here doesn't she?"

Liberty's Edge

"She knows we're here, but she don't know how bad it's got. As far as she knows, we're talkin' sense into a brother and sister havin' a family strop."

"Sheriff's out of town, but can he deliver a note to the Mayor? Or the Rusty Dragon? They need to know what's goin' down, in case we don't come back.
Even if we hold our own, whoever's down there could circle round us and skip town, and I ain't havin' that.
I intend to catch the bastard that's behind this, fer the sake o those folk whose relatives ain't coming home."

male gnome cloistered cleric 3 [ HP: 19/23 | AC: 14 T: 11 FF: 14 | F: +5 R: +1 W: +6 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | Effects: ]

"I'm not sure that even if we send a message, it would do any good. Right now, we are the protection for this town, and if we can't handle it, no one will be able to."

At the bottom of the slightly damp stone steps, you find a 10' wide man made corridor. Crates and barrels are stacked along the walls and a flickering light can be determined coming from around a bend in the passage about 40' ahead. It seems that this area is used as a store for
sand and other raw materials. Two wheelbarrows sit against the wall nearby. Just to your left at the foot of the stairs, you can see that a brick wall has been dismantled to reveal an older passageway leading south. A cool breeze carrying the smell of the sea blows from this direction.

Male Human Bard 1

Casting light on his rapier, which he has just drawn, Kendrick says, "Well now, this looks interesting. Who's going first? Personally I nominate young Drexel here."

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

"Hum, yes, well. I, unfortunately, do not have the ability to see in the dark and happened to forget to pack torches this morning so unless you can remedy that I believe that you should go first since you now have a sword that glows."

Male Dwarf Monk/1

"I'll go. I can see in the darkness."

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

Actually Galstok is holding a lit torch since its been dark from the stairs on.

Are the bricks lying around the area and if so on which side of the opening? ie does it look like it was down from this side or the other?

"If your heading down that way" he says indicating the older passage, "I'm gonna check out that light around the bend. You want the torch?"

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

"I'll head with you to check out the light, then we can double back and see where this "sea cavern" ends up"

Liberty's Edge

"I bet the little buggers tunneled up from the beach.
They sometimes sail round there, to pick through the junk that people throw over the cliff."

male gnome cloistered cleric 3 [ HP: 19/23 | AC: 14 T: 11 FF: 14 | F: +5 R: +1 W: +6 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | Effects: ]

Does the tunnel look like goblin work or a reasonably well built old tunnel built by someone long forgotten?

Ensu will continue to stay near the middle of the group, ready with spell and crossbow.

Looking at the bricks and scattered ston on the floor, you would assume that who or whatever was at work here did so from this side of the tunnel.

Moving cautiously around the bend toward the flickering light, you see that the corridor stretches on for a fair distance,(approximately 80'), but there is anothe passage about 50' alomg it, heding off to your left. The light comes from a torch set in an iron sconce in the passage wall at the far end. Beneath it are old wooden crates and sacks.

Ensu wrote:

The newly opened tunnel seems to be old, and not recently dug. Also it appears that it would be too high for goblins who would probably dig a tunnel 3 to 4' high.

Liberty's Edge

"Looks like there's seven of us, two lights, and one person who can see in the dark. Time to group up and cover each of the forks. At least one good spotter in each group."

I'm reading the corridors as being in the shape below, right?

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO(stairs)
...O.....O.......
...O.....O.......
...O.....O.......

Male Human Wizard (Egorian Academy Infernal Binder) 1

I do not think it wise to split our groups up.

Male Shoanti Human Barbarian 2

Galstok takes a look at the old passage. Are there any tracks down it or is it hard stone?

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

"I'm not familiar with your people's buildings and these small spaces. How big might it be here underground? Also, there might be more goblins here as well. Shouldn't we find them before heading away from it? Ameiko could be here or somewhere else entirely unfortunately"

Liberty's Edge

"I wasn't thinking of splitting up, exactly, just having someone watching the others backs while they search. We keep in sight of each other as much as we can."

"Those two passages go parallel; they may end up in the same place anyway. What's at the end of the long passage?"

Galstok wrote:

The old passage appears to be tunneled rock with a dirt floor. You can make out scuffed marks in the floor but its impossible to tell what has made them. The tunnel seems to head off and down at a slight incline and also appears to not run straight, but curves around a right hand bend after about 30'.

Male Human Bard 1

"Well nothin's going to get accomplished just sitting around here talkin' about it. It's time to find an answer to your question Tregar, about what is at the end of the long passage." With that, Kendrick heads cautiously down the passageway.

Liberty's Edge

Tregar follows Kendrick's light, readying an arrow in case of ambush.

"Watch nothin comes out behind us.", he says, nodding to the left passage as they pass.

The passageway goes on for another 50' before you reach the left hand junction in the passage. Ahead of you, the corridor you are in carries on for another 30' before ending in a solid wall with crates, sacks and debris stacked against it. The left hand side passage appears to go on for 50' before taking another left hand turn. You can see two wooden doors apoximately 30' and 50' along the right hand wall of this new tunnel.

Male Human Bard 1

Kendrick will inspect the crates and sacks to see what's in them. Also to see if there's any indication where they came from.

male gnome cloistered cleric 3 [ HP: 19/23 | AC: 14 T: 11 FF: 14 | F: +5 R: +1 W: +6 | Init: +1 Perc: +2 | Effects: ]

Ensu will cast detect magic on the crates and sacks as he keeps his crossbow ready for trouble.

Liberty's Edge

As Ensu scans the crates in the long passage, Tregar will stand ahead of him and aim round the far corner, where the light was spilling from.

Male Human Wizard (Egorian Academy Infernal Binder) 1

Harlynn will take position where there is plenty of cover in front if him and hopefully a wall behind him and roll up his sleeve preparing to launch a glob of acid should there be any unfriendlies nearby.

Male Human HP (5/6) | AC/Touch/Flat 13/13/10 | Fort/Ref/Will +0/+3/+3 | Init +3 | Percep +2

I will look around with bow drawn.
