Marmalade Dog is organized by the Western Michigan Gamer's Guild each year. It features role-playing games, collectable card games, board games, miniature wargames and a variety of other events.

The doors open at 2:30pm on Friday and things wrap up at 7:00pm on Sunday. Convention entry fee is TBD.

If you are interested in volunteering to GM, please contact me pfs.rc.detroit@gmail.com. In the past individual GMs have submitted the scenarios they intend to run direct to the con organizer. I would like to coordinate things this year for greater uniformity. Last year there were about 10-15 tables of Pathfinder Society events. I think we can increase this, but I will need some additional volunteers.

Presently I will be running Parts I & II of the Shades of Ice series and also the Exclusive Midnight Mauler will be available on Saturday and Sunday.

Oh, and the guest of honor this year is Jolly R. Blackburn of "The Knights of the Dinner Table" fame.

I see the recommended lodging from the site, just wondering if there is a "preferred" place.

I'm not aware of any on-campus housing, so you're looking at hotels. I've always just stayed at the local Red Roof Inn. Nothing fancy but it serves its purpose. It's a 5 minute drive from the campus. I've got a reservation now, so if you want to come (no pressure) you will have a place to stay, Bob.

Bold words for a man that knows my thunderous sleeping habits. :-)

I'm in negotiations with my convention partner. There is another convention that weekend outside Chicago.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Hmmmmm

The Exchange 5/5

Bob is eeeeeviiiilllll ... I was trying hard to be good in April lol.

I won't get out of work early Friday, so if I drive it straight I'll get to Kalamzaoo roughly midnightish .. depending on how many times and how severly I get lost... or the other option on the table is to hit up codcon for Friday night and then get up early saturday and drive the 3ish hours into kalamazoo for the saturday slots.

CODCON is the weekend before (April 8-10) per Warhorn. However, I think it is important to minister to your own flock. Chicago is your stomping grounds. I want to get the locals involved in Marmalade Dog, and bringing in ringers like you and Thea might hedge out potential recruits to the GM's chair. I don't want to tell you guys not to come like you wouldn't be welcome (you would be), but I don't want to see you turn into PFS automatons.

The Exchange 5/5

I'll be honest I doubt I can do either one .. 3rd class for the semester starting and I'll need to concentrate on that to get thru the semester ... however, origins and gencon .. I'm all over lol

3/5

I'm planning on this one. Been looking forward to it. I'm even going to try my hat at GMing again. Maybe a PC might even die .... I'm sure I'll never have a graveyard as big as Kyle's.

I'm not sure if Warhorn is in error, but the official CODCon XVI website lists 15-16 April.

ZOMG I can give you all the scoop you need to know about being a GM for Doug...

He likes when you're all bouncy and giggly and say things like "OMG it's so fluffy!!!!!!"

You have to have a sparkled purple dice rolling pit, and impersonate things that happen in your mods.. like shrieker alarms.. he loooooovvvvvvveeeessss it when you do that!!!!!

Oh .. your best friend for the convention are Mean Bean Java Monsters -- pound a 4-pack in the morning and you should be good for the first hour or so... and most important, don't EVER forget to swoon over his maps whenver you get the chance.

ok the serious side, go, have fun, pace yourself -- I always forget to do that and by the end of the con I'm wiped... tho I feed off the energy of the people around me so I'm blaming it all on Doug, Kyle and Bob, and everyone else at the cons I go to. If you have a question ask it.. there isn't anything that he hasn't heard (trust me, I've asked some dumb ones).

Bouncing...the only thing that bounces on me is my gut...so...yea...noooo.

So, no sounding out an alarm spell?

What about Dice towers?

I was planning on 5 hour energies, like 1 every 5 hours.

Swooning wise. I've been told he's a god of GMing. So I've been appropriately hyped. I'm kinda psyched to have him running slot 0 at the meetup I attend. I'm trying to remember he puts his pants on one leg at a time.

Is there something in particular you would like to GM? Something you have run before? There're always first-time players around who aren't too particular about which scenario they play, they just want to roll some dice.

I am flexible in running just about anything. I don't care to translate and run any 3.5 Season 0. If you think there are some popular modules you'd like to see run, I'd be happy to step up for those and learn them before the con. I've been GMing for years now, so I'm not adverse to learning new modules. Just new to the organized play style, but like to think I'm flexible.

I've run Shipyard rats, own and have read over Cassomir's locker, and Voice in the void, and lastly I am currently preparing The throaty Mermaid for the next Kzoo meetup.

In fact the modules you're running aside from 4 star mod at our slot 0, a week ahead of the con would be enough time for me to learn those as well. I would like to know what maps are involved before then so I could make sure to order and have them before the con.

So, whatever you think is best. I'll also do as many slots as you want.

I get by in life pretty easily without a car, but it's things like this that make me wish I had one. As the main PFS coordinator in Omaha, I no longer get opportunities to play and would love to make this run.

I'm hoping you'll be at Origins again doug so I can get some good playtime in (PFS at Origins last year was my highlight of the con). That's if I don't get snagged to run a few of the other OP campaigns :P

My brother's g/f lives in Ankeny.. if she's willing (and I'll ask as our plans are more finalized) she could bring you to IC and the three of us go up together... We won't be able to play Friday night as we'll be getting there about midnight, but Saturday and the first slot Sunday are golden.

Just My Thoughts

Swiftbrook, are you coming down for the whole weekend or just one day? How much are you willing to give me? Would you want to run the "Before the Dawn" series? How about "Master of the Fallen Fortress" if you come down for Friday? Or do you want to run something different, something new?

Unless there is a big incentive to come down Friday afternoon (guaranteed game) with it's generally low starting attendance, I'll be coming Friday night. I've thought about running Rebel's Ransom (if you don't think it's too tough for a still rookie PFS GM) but I'm willing to run something else. Nothing is currently scheduled for me to play.

7:30 - Slot 2 GM Something (Rebel's Ransom?)

10:00 - Slot 3 Play PFS 2-EX The Midnight Mauler (Doug Miles)

Slots 4 & 5 look pretty set so I'll play my new dwarf fighter the low tables for

2:30 - Slot 4 play PFS 2-15 Shades of Ice, Part 1: Written in Blood
7:00 - Slot 5 play PFS 2-17 Shades of Ice, Part 2: Exiles of Winter

Sunday, back home and back to work. Grading and class prep. :-)

The Exchange 5/5

TwilightKnight is going to handle coordination on Friday and he'll be on standby to handle any overflow. Typically Fridays at conventions are slow, especially in the afternoon. Things get cranking on Saturday and then tend to fall off again on Sunday. Last month we were at BASHCON in Toledo and there were 3 tables on Friday night, then 5-7 on Saturday, and back down to 3 on Sunday. There's still room to volunteer if anyone else wishes to do some GMing.

Friday
2:30 - Doors open, registration begins
3:00 - Slot 1
Master of the Fallen Fortress (Volunteer TBA)
PFS 2-13 Murder on the Throaty Mermaid (ThornDJL7)
7:00 - Break

7:30 - Slot 2
PFS 1-01 Shipyard Rats (ThornDJL7)
PFS 2-03 The Rebel's Ransom (Swiftbrook)
PFS X-XX (Volunteer TBA)
11:30 - Doors close

Saturday
9:00 - Doors open, registration begins

If we'd rather have someone run the intro quest, I can do that Slot 1, move Throaty Mermaid to Slot 7, and drop voice in the void, or whatever you think is best.
