Arcanotheign - question about this monster from Pathfinder #41

Hi,

during the translation of this monster a question has come up.

The feat Selective Channeling is not in the list of feats for this critter, but it is referenced in its Energy Channel Aura ability.

So my question is:

Does the Arcanotheign have Selective Channeling as a feat?

Not an official answer, but I'd give it that feat as a bonus feat in addition to the ones it already has (just for consistency with the ability).

The most common explanation for stuff like this is that at one time during development, she was statted out with the feat, but a later version dropped it, and the appropriate references to it slipped by the editor(s).

It happens every now and again.

I know it happens now and again (see the entry about the Impundulu from Pathfinder #40 further down this board). I am definitely not upset about this.

I just need a clarification, in order to be able to use the correct version of the statblock for our translation. I will probably ask via email tomorrow.

The more elegant way to do this would to have just used the rules language from that feat and adapt it into the Energy Channel Aura ability so no feet is necessary, since Selective Channeling specifically works with Channel Energy, not the Arcanotheign's weird special ability. A perfect solution would be to change the last sentence of the monster's ability to:

"The herald can exclude creatures from the effect of her aura at will, regardless of the aura's energy type, in a manner similar to someone using the Selective Channel feat to pick and choose targets to be affected by channeled energy."
