Forgot about them - didn't some of their members play with King Crimson?

EDIT: Yes, that is what it's called. However, both hands are above the table, and the Nicki Minaj videos have been turned off. Come back! It's fine!

WTAF? It costs more than one of your new Ikea chairs.

I'm just gonna start calling you Shiro already.

You know darned well that Shiro would have bought the one where the sand was all epoxied down so it didn't actually work!

And yeah, it was barely more than the chairs, but in spite of being "cheap Chinese trinket" material (it's actually just resin with a bronze finish), it's a really pretty little thing. And c'mon -- they're IKEA chairs. You wanna start taking bets on which lasts longer, the hourglass or the chairs?

Over $85 (shipping included)... It's almost 60× the price of my newish chair.
Weird. It was only $51.50 for me (curious that they didn't hit me with sales tax -- they usually do), I'm Amazon Prime so no shipping, and the chairs were $50.89 apiece including tax and shipping. So when I say barely, I mean it!

Shipping to me would be around $35. It might have to do with a thing called Atlantic or something.

Ye gods!

The new messageboards are confusing! Took me forever to find this, I’m too old for changes in tech.

I did post this earlier. It’s a small, heartfelt request.

Stamina is really an issue when you're too clicky.

I mean I could buy food but...why should I, its requisitions that I could be using to get...not nekkid?

That sounds awesome!
My sister and I took my kids to a geology museum in Oregon last summer.
They had a coprolite almost three feet long inside a glass display case.
Hermione was convinced it was inside the glass box so we didn't have to smell it. She refused to believe that a piece of poop that big, no matter how old it was, wouldn't stink.
They also loved the room where you flipped a switch to turn on black lights to make rocks fluoresce.
(Hey! I can spell fluoresce before coffee! I've found my mutant superpower!)

Waiting for the kidlet. They have a super short day today. Only one exam, so they are only at school for an hour and a half. Since we live thirty minutes away I went out for breakfast this morning as I wouldn’t have had time to eat if I went home as I would have had to turn right back around. I had delicious gluten free waffles with bacon and cheese on them. So good. And coffee. So much coffee. I usually limit myself to one cup in the morning. I am on my third cup since the waitress kindly brought me a to go cup when I was leaving. In my defense it’s really good coffee and I was left unsupervised...

The Carnegie Museum of Natural History has a geology section also. As well as a complete T-Rex skeleton.

Well, my head no longer feels like someone triggered an airbag inside of it and then punched me in the back of the eyeballs repeatedly, so *that's* good.

Coffee tastes weird. Apples tastes weird. Bread tastes weird.

It's almost as if the sense of smell has something to do with the flavor of food, but, nah, couldn't be. I don't drink coffee with my nose.
Although, tell me something funny and it might come back *out* that way.

Scent and taste are related. When you eat, you smell the food at the same time you taste it. Remove the sense of smell, and the taste of food seems ... off.

what is a yin'zer? Is that like chummer? If so, then I would say that.

Also, my chariot is pulled by snow eunuchs, and my coming is heralded by snow nymphs.

Random notes for the morning:

  • I love the fact that Strange Aeons gives players an excuse for their PCs' shoddy memory. Last night:
Bloodrager: I'm sorry. I know she was your friend, but she was dead when we found her. We brought back her body...
NPC: ??? My friend? I barely knew her! I only met her once! But, er, thanks for the body?
BR: Well, what do you expect? My memory's been tampered with! It's like every half hour of my life is played out over 2-3 weeks!

Well played, GothBard. Well played indeed!

  • Glad to hear you're feeling better, LM! I feel bad for WW: He really wanted to have some of us go to the theater with him, but our schedules are so disjointed that these days we're having trouble even getting the family together, much less family and friends. The best indicator is the "Rivoli factor": I don't think we've managed to go to Rivoli for a couple of months, and that's usually a "once per two weeks" thing, but we just haven't managed to get a quorum going
I mean heck; I don't remember the last Friday we actually even managed to go out to dinner! I'm actually cooking for my family! Who does that?
  • Today is, "What Nobody does best" at work: All the PMs say, "Just do xx and yy will happen." I have demonstrated that this doesn't work. I just got confirmation from another engineer. So now there's a big "uh oh" and everyone's waiting for me to figure out how it really works
  • Since the company switched to infinite vacation, I decided to take Monday off to take care of nonsense (turning in forms at the school, dumping e-waste at the disposal site, getting an oil change, etc.). My brain still isn't used to it, so I keep thinking the kids and NobodysWife have a 3-day weekend as well

A yin'zer is someone who uses yin'z in everyday speech, which is probably a contraction of you ones, filtered through Scottish. The Pittsburgh equivalent of y'all. But you'll never hear me use it.

I'm blaming on you the fact that, two days ago as I was giving a phonics lesson to a small boy and he asked me "What is yuh [Y] for, Miss Lisa?" I literally had to bite the inside of my mouth to stop laughing because all I could think of was "Yuh is for Yinzer".
    Thanks, buddy. Thanks a lot.

This was only about thirty seconds after we had been working on "Esssssss is for sister" and my son walked past the table and said, correcting me with a shake of his head, "Essssss is for Ssssssssmeagol" in his best imitation of Peter Woodthorpe.

Hey everyone. I apologize for disappearing (wait, who am I again?). It's been a rough couple of weeks. My dad is still in the hospital after his surgery. He went to rehab for a couple of days, wasn't eating, and wound up back in the emergency room. He's now back in a regular hospital room.

I was planning to visit next week, but I'm thinking I want to drive (or fly) down today or tomorrow.

    Here are some corgis

We took the kidlet to Pittsburgh and went to all the museums a few years ago. He loved it. Chicago still has better museums, but not by too much and Pittsburgh was a nicer place to visit. Yes, we do judge cities by the quality of their museums...this is what we do when we go on vacation. We like museums. :)

(Caveat: my husband is not as fond of museums and tends to start complaining by the third one. The kidlet and I are not merciful and insist that we really must see all the museums. :P)
