Cross your fingers, all, that my partner lands one of these jobs he's applying for. They would be awesome.

His photography hasn't been very profitable, but he has found a few Italian teaching jobs that popped up randomly. (High school Italian teachers aren't exactly in demand.)

One pays really well, in the NYC area. Yes, yes. I know. We just moved. But the job would be worth it, and is long term (i.e. his contract would be up for renewal the next year - no set end date).

The other is here in L.A., and is just a maternity leave fill-in, but that would be a great help for the time being. Apparently they are desperate to find a qualified Italian teacher for this position - only a handful of schools in Southern California offer it, so no one around here really gets a certification in it.

Good luck to your partner!

The Exchange

earthquakes in Kansas, and Oklahoma. I felt this one. It lasted a bit too. Not as bad as I have felt when I was a kid in California but this is what 14 over the weekend. The second we have felt here.

sheeesh!

The Exchange

Oklahoma update from OKC weather: We continue to monitor the severe weather. New Tornado Watch for most areas until 4am. 80+mph winds in Payne County. And, yes, we did feel another earthquake here at the station.

The Exchange

By the way we are having blizzard watches in northwest Kansas.

Damn Hessian mercenaries!! ;)
yup, a lot of them where from my birthplace Hanau
And the Headless Horseman in Sleepy Hollow.
I have watched Sleepy Hollow in a Cinema in Aschaffenburg, over the Border in Bavaria, when the Horseman was called the Hessian for the first time you could see 90% bavarians in the audiance falling to the ground laughing and the 10% Hessians hidding their faces in shame
that must be have been funny. Sleepy Hollow is one of my favorite movies, i snuck onto in to see it on my birthday
Wait....you like something? you okay?

Contrary to popular belief, I like a great many things! sips Haterade(tm) indignantly

I have such great memories of that day. I was with a good friend of mine who was actually going to get me tickets to the movie. We waited by the front booth for a while, but noone showed. So we thought that maybe it was one of those theatres that ticketed within once the film started, and went inside. Noone was there. So we just kinda ambled into the theatre itself and started watching the film. The ticket clerk came in about 10 minutes in, searching hard to see if anyone had snuck in, but my friend and I scooched down into our seats and did our best to seem as if we belonged there and so we went undetected. It was great- only movie I have ever successfully snuck into.

yikes. I'm sorry man, I hope you and yours are okay. I can't even begin to comprehend what that might feel like- I didn't even feel the earthquake we had in NY a few months back.

There is nothing wrong with you. The people posting the most in such threads have filled themselves with such vitriol that they are not thinking before posting and are so stuck in their beliefs that they wouldn't wise up with a clue by 4.

You don't have to jump in. Just ease in, slowly. It's been a while, be gentle with yourself.

Ah..That may have sounded different than what I intended...

Dude I was giggling. We here are so far away from the epicenter that if I did not notice the table shake I would have thought it was thunder. We are having a thunderstorm right now.

It is people in the major metropolitan area who are more freaked I would guess because while we are 156 miles away they are about 40. Plus, well there have been many of them, we felt 2, the big one was at 3 am and I think only drunks cops and cabbies felt that one.

List of quakes
