Geography teacher may be the least rock n' roll teaching profession.
And pass up the chance for some classics?

I actually made the observation because someone sent me this link to a performance from a band with one half being made up of geography teacher.
In the words of music critic Alexis Petridis "they sample old public service announcements and mix them with krautrocky electric guitar music."

Ah, sense is made.

Of course, Jarvis Cocker from Pulp looks more and more like a sociology professor each year. Bet he didn't see that coming when he rushed up on stage to moon the crown during a Michael Jackson performance at an award show.
I dunno, one of my sociology profs wouldn't have looked too out of place at a rock concert.

It still floors me sometimes watching cartoons that were on when I was a kid.
I found an old Hardy brothers book I had when I was a kid. It was originally written during the 30s, and - OH THE RACISM! (against Chinese, in particular). Bad, naughty Hardy Boys!
The Bumbi bears (or whatever they were originally called in the US) should be shown more often, though. And Professor Balthazar. Yugoslavian psychedelia for the win!

Found on another thread. So close to success and yet so dismal failure. Yes Kajehase, you can laugh now. We'll get revenge for getting that used king of yours!

I mean, heck, I'm about cardboard level of interesting.
I highly doubt this. You could make class more fun if you were of a mind to and had the resources. One of the biggest influences on me was my Spanish teacher, who was head of the science fictioncclub and the first responsible adult I knew who was a serious role player. I'm sure there are students who would kill for a teacher that was into mlp and Pathfinder.

When I say boring, I'm referring to my level of social activity. When I was student teaching, one of the first questions I got (besides "How do you pronounce your name) was "Do you go to parties/drink?" "No." "What do you do for fun?" "Read books, play Pokemon." Half the class instantly deemed me boring, and I'm perfectly okay with that.

I have absolutely no problem being an utter geek in front of students. I think it's great how many students seem to enjoy having a geeky sub or teacher - gives me hope that smart-shaming will come to an end.
However, I'm not trying to impress anyone who isn't actively looking to employ me. If the kids like me, that's awesome. If they don't, then I hope they at least learned something.

Yeah, kids these days seem to love geeky teachers for some bizarre reason, from the tales Scint's told me of student reactions to MLP/Pokemon/Homestuck/etc. references in class.
Your peers, however, still deem you socially inept if you don't go to all the sports events, go on a date every weekend (or more often) if you aren't married, and spend every non-football game Friday night at a bar.

My cynical guess is that it provokes a reaction of "Kindred spirit!" from the geeky ones and "Ha, my life is so much cooler!" from the non-geeks.
My somewhat more optimistic guess is that the geeks are breeding and indoctrinating their children well in addition to sneaking more geeky stuff into pop culture as a whole.
My mad scientist guess is YES! THE DEVICE IS WORKING! QUICKLY, IGOR, FETCH ME MORE TUNGSTEN!
