I have an interesting Hessian story for you. A good friend of mine is descended from Hessian stock. According to his family stories his people came over originally as mercenaries for the Revolutionary War. After it was settled, they decided they liked America and they settled down to farm. In the aftermath, it wasn't a happy thing to be a Hessian, so his ancestors used to claim they were Swiss to avoid any reprisals.

cool !

All this talk of cider and no-one has mentioned 'snakebite & black'. Beer(lager) & Cider & blackcurrant juice(or cordial)....it's an interesting combo.

Why bother with pressing juice from them? Better eat them whole. Or baked. Or braised with meat and/or onions. Or with meat and grapes. Or with meat and peaches. Or with meat and pineapple. Or meat, graps and peaches. And served with cranberries.

All of those sound good except eating whole. I have a strange allergy to raw apples. The juice is fine, and they are fine when they are baked (such as in an apple pie), but if I eat them raw my throat swells up. It makes me sad.

It's actually any fruit with a core or a pit (apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries, etc). :(

Perhaps you're allergic to something in the seeds themselves?

Morning, all. What did I miss?

I don't know. Even an apple that has been sliced will do it. I think it is something in the sugar that breaks down when you heat them.

Although, wouldn't the fact that people could understand them give away that they weren't actually Swiss? ;)

My friend Tim says he has a great recipe for venison with apples. I look forward to trying that!

That's...yeah. That's weird.

It's the "joy" or trying to determine if you have poopy diaper to deal with. Although sometimes you can smell it from a distance.

AZ, do you, like my fellow gamer, always try to trick your wife into changing diapers when the test result is positive? Like saying "Honey, I am not sure, could you check it?" and then hiding/running away while no one is looking.

Damn, I should be preparing for session tomorrow but I can't focus because of headache. Will there be a change of weather soon? :|

Is there anything nicer than a hot wood fire on a cold and windy day?

I think not. My three dogs agree. They are all snoring at my woodstove's feet.

Such a day. I am feeling the call of the afternoon nap now

When things you assumed were great like teeth or joints start giving you trouble, you know you are past your warranty date

But, with age comes wisdom. At least that's what I've been told.

Well, it's too bad my body is in advanced middle age whilst my brain seems mired in advanced middle school

Sunset at 440. Well, better than 420 I suppose

Speaking of 420, I need to relax and chill tonight

I wish I could get a perscription.

I still need to find time to get to Treppa's 'Darkness' PbP.

I finally got a map made up and some NPCs sketched for an unexpected throwdown in one of my PbPs

Plus my seagoing PbP is fighting a very bruisy monster. The problem with modules is you can never tell how tough the mobs are until you try them out.

Drunk GM's can be fun....hung-over GM's not so much.

They want to battle the local temple extortionist. Named Pulgh, natch

We did the medical route here in Massachusetts this past cycle. Unsurprisingly the powers that be are dragging their heels

I love Second Edition AD&D stuff. I've been going through some of my Planescape boxes and the depth of information is just amazing

Time to nap, but a few more posts since everyone is out on their Saturday stuffs

I'd love to visit Colorado. But I am a rock nerd from waaay back

I still have to go visit that emerald mine in North Carolina

Just moving my 4th Ed stuff away, to make room for more AD&D stuff.

Arkansas has diamonds for the taking in their state parks.
