You have a point. There are many hells. One of mine looks like a vat of mayonnaise.

Planning to take over the world, Pinky!

Does this person not have an office? Study areas not the place for a conference call over skype. I don't need to know that much about your business. :/
I think half the time people do this crap to make others think that they're more important then they are. Uber self-centered = Epic fail!

So true!
I'll get comments back to you in the next few days. Overall, the edits work well.

But what are we going to do with the 100 lbs of Jello and the hamsters?

Good times here in Philly!
My group will be getting together tomorrow night to play some Serpent's Skull. I'll be introducing my new character: a half-orc druid named Brule, with a giant spider animal companion.
Before we game, a few of us usually gather at the Flying Pig to have a few beers, eat some good food, and shoot the s@*#.

I always got a kick out of people setting up an "office" in a coffee shop or bookstore.
A couple years ago, I can remember being a borders, and this lady came in with two big cases. She sets up her big old laptop and then... I kid you not... pulls out a giant desktop printer. One of those big boxy ones that weighs about 20 pounds. She set that up on a table and proceeds to do office work.
What is wrong with people?

That could be either an idiot, or one of the new generation of mobile workers. (The 20lb printer probably means a bit of both). Companies are squeezing people out of office real estate more and more. Cube/office sizes are shrinking, not being dedicated to an individual, or not being available at all. Our bosses are forcing this model and I'm one of the guys stuck between them and the workers. No fun.
Or the poor lady had a power outage at her workplace.

It's the printer that makes it stupid. Plenty of people work from cafes and even mcdonalds is usually full of students and people working since they have free wifi. But lugging around a desktop printer....full of fail.
Edit: I could almost understand it if due to a power outage. Almost. I still wouldn't. But I could see where someone might get the idea.
Edit 2: In all fairness, I'm all about less 'stuff' in general, so everything that can be paperless is. So I may be less sympathetic to those who rely on hard copies of stuff than might otherwise be the case.

There is no generic anti whedon rant, because Joss Whedon is awesome. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to the book store to buy the new Alton Brown cookbook I saw advertised on facebook.

Emperor7 |

Definitely. Our baseline workstation has been 80 square feet for decades. The new model is 36 sf. Plus the height of the dividers had gone from full wall/64" high to 36/42". Private offices shall not be more than 10% of total workspaces. Much different environment going forward.
Of course the big bosses have their own floor and 400sf offices...

For some reason, I'm suddenly thinking of those names as the lyrics to some of that creepy latin music from old relgious-themed movies like The Omen.

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, Craig was dismayed to once again realize that his sheep were in danger from the wild dingo's he thought he'd driven off. Meanwhile, Jeremy, Max, and Scott were caught off guard by the return of their old nemesis, Dr. Civreldis, and his army of mindless, sycophantic cyber-weasels. And, across town, Patrick's attempts to finally convince Gregg that pudding was.....No, wait! That's my soap opera.

Aberzombie's Really Grim Fairy Tales:
The Kind-Hearted Monster
Once upon a time, a gentle and kind-hearted monster lived deep in the Enchanted Woodlands. He often went out of his way to help those who were lost or in danger, never asking for any reward, and never letting himself be seen.
One day, as the monster was walking to his favorite grove, a cry for helped pierced the stillness of the forest. Moving towards the sound, the giant came across a beautiful, young princess lying on the ground and being attacked by a crazed bear. At great risk to himself, the monster fought the bear off, saving the young maid's life.
However, just as the monster was offering to help the girl up, her betrothed prince came along. Seeing what he thought was a monster attacking his beloved, the prince slew the benevolent monster.
Unfortunately, the monster was also enchanted, so that any who slew him would in turn be slain. As the monster's heart ceased beating, the angry bear returned with three of his friends, killed the prince, and ate the princess.
The end.

And that reminds me: I'm very much looking forward to the Avengers movie. From everything I'm hearing, it's FAWESOME and looks to be a HUGE success.
I've put time aside to see the film myself. I need to get a humidifier for when I sleep at night so my vocals can be ready for the booing I will offer....
