So I bought a 'learn to Art' book and a set of pencils and paper and I made a thing. This is my third thing, beyond a pear and a lamp, and the first thing that made me happy.

John's family is still here. They will be at least until next week.
Last night, John had a work meeting in the evening. I took the opportunity to hang out in Manhattan until about 9 pm. I just couldn't deal with an entire evening of unmediated small talk. They are good people, don't get me wrong. But this has been very draining.

@MagusJanus - And my sympathies to you too, friend. I hope your grandmother is getting the care she needs. *crosses more fingers*
Thank you. We're currently trying to get her into the doctor. It may be related to that six months of renal appointments she refused to go to.
Also, does SR 4e not have "chummer"? I am playing in a semi frequent campaign atm and the GM frequently throws in slang that I am learning is from the setting, chummer being among them, but that may just be the GM's doing.
Not the original release of it. They took out nearly all of the Shadowrun slang in favor of real-world slang. And then added in a spell that, well, had very adultish effects.
It does not surprise me the company ended up having to sell Shadowrun to someone else not long after.
I am. I can make conversation as well as anybody, but I need my "recharge time" and I haven't really been getting it.
I could too. It's been a few years.

My whole family is a family of introverts. Its always great when we can get together, but there's this point, about 3-4 days into the visit, where we all kind of look at each other for a moment, and find someplace to hide and be alone and read a book or play a video game or go for a walk.
After about 2-3 hours, we get together again and have more fun.
:)
It's nice that we all totally understand what's going on, and nobody gets upset and feels "ignored" because of it. :)

I envy you so much. My parents are both very extroverted, as is my sister. They seem to "get" that I can only take so much "public time", but they're not exactly happy about it.

pfff... I think I know the spell you mean. The Mage in our group uses it. A lot. If the results weren't generally so hilarious, it would be a lot more awkward.

John's family is a mix. His dad is an introvert, but he has been spending our workdays on his own, so he wants to chat when I get home.
I feel for his sister (who had the baby). She is extremely introverted and has been doted on all week. I'm sure she wishes everyone would stop helping...

My mom and brother are extroverts. My dad is possibly even more introverted than I am. (He doesn't even like to talk to waiters at restaurants.) I remember when I visited them in CA, and they had 2 weeks straight of rain. About day 8, there was a break in the downpour. He took one look at me, told me to grab a coat, and we went and just walked down a nearby pier. No talking, just walking and enjoying the quiet.

See, for me, interaction with service workers is not taxing. It all follows a script so I can be downright friendly (even if I am otherwise spent) because I know exactly what to expect.

Last thing you need is some corporate sales jerk hacking your eyes to spam you with advertisements. Or you could just have them non-wireless, but that doesn't seem to be encouraged by the latest ruleset.hugs, loves Amby
If no one's saying the word "chummer", it's not Shadowrun.
5e SR brought "chummer" back ^^ On page 14, in the section where they describe the setting.
They're still going wireless-happy, though :S
But, they brought the slang back, actually wrote a full rules set (glares at 4e), and they made picking human as Priority A actually worth something.
wireless is a necessity, as Shadowrun has accidentally predicted several non - magic based bits of technological and political advancements.

today the mayor came by and gave us the welcome cheque every baby gets in our municipality
he did it himself because he want to write a articel (pictures and all) about it for the local newspapers to make this feature more known
he did chose us because he remembered me from my civil service year in 1997, he was my supervisor back then (he was just an administrative clerk at the municipality back then)
the mayor is born on new years day as well,he said he thought it was awesome as a kid because for hi, it was like the whole world celebrated his birthday :-)

Celestial Healer wrote:Point of fact, I am recharging quite nicely in my favorite French cafe.where is that? I need to surprise the wife.
La Bergamote on west (way west) 52nd. It's kind of a casual coffee and pastry shop. If that's what you are looking for, it's a good one. If you want more of French dining, I recommend Le Rivage on west 46th. If you go at 7:30 or later, the obnoxious theater goers are gone and the menu becomes substantially cheaper to boot.

Treppa wrote:You must be an introvert.CH is just as loud and extroverted as I am!!!!
Being able to make lively conversation does not make one an extrovert! Despite being an introvert, I can be very social, enjoy public speaking, and have a job focused on managing client relationships. The difference is I need my time to recharge and reflect in between. This doesn't even need to be in private; for me, browsing a library or taking a stroll by myself through the city works just as well. Plus, I tend to focus inward when solving problems.
All that said, it would have been fun to get together! I assumed you were in Brooklyn or I would have asked. We need to get together very soon! Starting in two weeks, John will be working weekends again, so I will have time!
