Essentially, this equates to about a 33% reduction in income for many of our loan officers. And we are pretty conservative and giving of our pricing.
However, true to government form, the document that spells this all out is anything but easy to understand. So I get to be the "broken record" with the loan officers and explain to them over and over again how they are (or "are not") going to be paid from now on. Then I get to hear them gripe about it as though it's all my fault.
No limitation on banks. Or top end bank employees or their "parachute" packages. Nope. Apparently, the reason for the recession was because people didn't care to shop around and went with the first sleazebag broker that they could find -- and apparently everyone was a sleazebag broker. That is the apparent reason for the entire recession -- so to fix this the government has decided to limit the loan officers' salaries -- and no one else's.
Well, I guess that it's all good as long as this gets us out of the recession.

Hmm. No, I guess it's not that.
I'm feeling a little better today, but not great. Called into work, because there would be no way I could get anything done.
I'm able to eat again, which is a plus. Definitely doing better than I was.

There's a couple in the apartment right by the main entrance to my building that has a very... active... sex life. It's always entertaining when we have guests coming over - you can hear everything in the hallway. Which leads me to believe that they are doing it in their living room, because if it was in the bedroom, it would be quieter.

I beg to differ. I have known a couple of ladies who do in fact like to get loud. One told me it is not so much that she has to but rather that she wants to as it makes it more pleasurable.

Reliable transportation a must!does it have to be a female?Well, maybe, while a man can explain lingerie as well as a woman, men are not hired in a clothing store for that department because ladies do not feel comfortable getting a bra fitting from a man. Who would blame them. Same goes for certain other, "accessories" that a lady may feel more comfortable speaking with another lady about. As such I did not know if it was just a general practice in hiring ladies.
As with most video stores here of a more adult nature tend to hire men, especially for night shift, not that I am a big patron or anything, just for the safety factor.

I cannot remember the author's name at this point, but he wrote two essays that take an in-depth look at two classic modules. The first was WG4, The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun, and the second was C1, The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan. He goes beyond the text to provide new insight into the adventures, postulates what the authors may have been thinking during development, and introduces a host of new ideas to help round out these classics.
I saw those being dropped in the other day. Thanks for the reminder; I need to check those out.

Is this restricted to mortgages or all loans in general? I wasn't aware there was a percentage / cut-off put into place. When did this occur?
I did send out a memo at one time indicating that loan officer's future commissions should be based on the strength / performance of the repayment of the loan over a certain period. I've seen a number of loan officers throw a customer into a loan that did not serve their means only because they knew that the commission earned for that loan type would make more for them, but damn the customer for comprehending it and finding out the pitfalls later.
Fell on deaf ears.
I can't begin to recite how often I've had to "re-educate" customers how they should repay their loan and/or explain to them that the loan officer did not place them in the best loan suited for them and that there are much better options out there. I then expand on the fact that I don't have any financial gain over my advice, but I can show them the amortization over the lifetime of the loan the difference in savings.
Especially in situations where the customer is talked into getting a simple loan for their home as a mortgage to avoid PMI and not having to pay the equity disbursement to pay for real estate each month (whereas they keep it for themselves to pay the county directly), but they end up paying more interest despite the interest "appearing" less because the interest is calculated at a per diem versus monthly under standard conventional mortgages. Not so bad if it's a $40k loan, but when you're dealing with something like $240k, the "car loan" for your mortgage isn't the way to go. Bank's making hand over fist.

Oh, I don't doubt that there were/are shady loan officers. But that's not where it starts.
We had real estate agents that demanded that every one of their buyers be placed into Option ARM loans. If the loan officer/lender refused, then he would take his business elsewhere. We didn't do business with them. But we lost a LOT of business because we wouldn't operate that way.
It also starts more with borrowers who feel that they are entitled to things they don't deserve. (And then go against my advice and then blame the system when it backfires on them... Grrrr.)
And this legislation is easily worked around. It doesn't talk at all about what the company can charge for a transaction -- just that the loan officer can't be paid based at all on pricing. So in theory, the "company" can just increase all their pricing and the loan officer gets paid the same. Our company just decided not to work that way -- that we actually make more money in quantity than by making more money on a few loans.
I just hate being a middle-man/messenger on this. In this case, I know more than most and have to constantly bite my tongue. It's really getting annoying.
So what does this legislation do? It will basically just increase pricing across the board for all borrowers.
Oh, I've got stories and stories to tell about some of this stuff. I mean, federal agencies (NCUA, FDIC, etc.) were pushing a lot of these loans. Why? They paid better. Now their tune is going the exact opposite way and are now pointing fingers at all the agencies who actually listened to them.
And no one wants to be the last one standing when the music stops.

ERGH! I need to see all three of those ... plus the older Spartacus series. I'll have to resign to Netflix in the future and rent those discs to watch.
I really miss some of the video stores. I understand their business is no longer viable for the majority of them, but I sure like being able to come in every other day and pick up the disc where I left off and watch the next one in the series.
