Oh yea at the colorful hospital building? I wish my house looked like that, it's full of win! True, I'm glad we live in Woodbury.

The shipping I select says it will take 12 – 20 days in transit. My orders seem to really run the gamut of that time frame. This was a quick one, 14 days.
Mine can take a month to get here grrrrr.... But then again all the mail to newfoundland goes by ferry, and this time a year half the ferries get canceled due to s$#~ty weather.

Morning, all. What did I miss?
Well, Holly and Manfred finally got revenge on Alan for stealing their company by framing him for an illegal smuggling operation. Meanwhile, Janice was flabbergasted to learn that the man she thought was her husband Paul was actually a foriegn spy given plastic surgery and voice lessons. And, across town, Jim suddenly found himself bereft of any reasons not to sleep with....No, wait! That's my soap opera!

Ugh, I hate this, and I hate that I'm complaining about something that could be a good thing.

Accepting counteroffers tends to poison you in the market, but you're not going local in this case. Might poison you in the new market and with the new employer forever, but do you care?
Wow. This is a toughie. You've got to look long term. Which is likely to be better longer? Which industry is better? Which do you like better?
Good luck with a tough choice.

My youngest son turns 21 in 2 days. A group gift for him?
Batman, Dark Knight movie poster autographed by the cast and director of the movie, including the late Heath Ledger.
He's going to pee himself. ;)
Sweet! I'd give Taig's right arm to have something like that.

Putting this here as a placemarker.
I hope everyone's having a pleasant weekend. I'm off for a day of wine-tasting and picnicking at local wineries with friends. I hope today is as sunny and beautiful as the last two days have been!
I hope your day has been great. It sounds nice.
It was fabulous. The weather was gorgeous and the picnic lunch we had outside on the patio was just perfect. And the company was good, as it always is.
I am a happy woman just now. :) Full of wine and sammiches.
I envy you that day. Wish I could have been there. :)

When I accept an offer, there is generally no counter offer I will accept - because they are aware I was looking, and ready to leave. And I assume they will pay to keep me because they think that they will need more than two weeks to replace me, and they would rather lose me on their terms...nevermind I'm then without any job opportunities. Because that's not their problem.
I might be cynical and jaded, though. :(

I understand that. I took a counteroffer once, and I regretted it, but at that time I wanted to leave the company and I really should have just walked away.
In this situation, I am contracting, and I had communicated my desire to go full time, and my boss was searching for ways to make that happen. I think he thought he had more time, since my 12-month contract (which was up at the end of May) was extremely likely to get renewed for 6 months. I didn't communicate anything to my boss about looking until I turned in my notice, which is how I would have approached things if I was already full-time.
Bleh.

Why do people insist on feeding troll threads?
The length of one's fascination with such an activity can depend on one's maturity level. I am not always as mature as I wish I were, myself.

Yeah, my only experience with a similar situation was with a boss that was repeatedly hiring people, only to fire them months later to hire personal friends. I was useful to the company - I had training and knowledge no one else had, and was doing some intense customer facing work at the moment - but I was under no illusion that my position was stable.
The owner was an excellent salesman. Not necessarily a good businessman, but his ability to talk people into things let him limp along despite some crazy decistions (let's focus on the $2000 customer to the detriment of the $500,000 customer!).
I gave them my notice when I got the offer for my current job. I felt bad for my boss (not the owner) - he was a good boss with a bad boss above him. When I gave my notice he wasn't coming in that day, so I had to do it over the phone, and I asked if he wanted me to stay off my computer, etc. - sometimes they're really concerned about security and such. He asked me to give him a minute, but I could continue working.
I got called into the owner's office about an hour later, and he was trying to get me to stay. But I knew better. He would keep me and then begin frantically looking for a new hire - and then drop me. If he did it to a new employee that just signed a new lease right before Christmas and he'd do it to a single mother with two children who'd been working for him for 3 years, he'd have no compunction about such treatment of me.
I was honest in my reasons for leaving - changes and firings and hirings all over, with no understanding of why and a fear for my own stability - and I offered to spend what free time I could in training people or assisting with problems. He was upset he couldn't get me to budge - which, I must admit, kinda amused me, and I both disliked and distrusted him quite a bit.
Your situation sounds much better all around. Which actually makes the decision harder - but I think it's a blessing you have real choices! I hope everything works out well for you!

We'll be taking pics and a video of him opening it, (in its temporary frame -they want almost $300 at the local place to frame it properly), so we can share his reaction with his BF who is stationed in Iraq yet was eager to chip in on it. I'll post on FB Wed night or Thursday.
I can't take credit for this. My wife and daughter stumbled across the memorabilia dealer and set it up.
